National high School teachers enjoined in the celebration of the World Teachers’ Day with
the theme, “Teachers Leading in Crisis Reimagining the Future.” This year’s celebration was
different compared to the usual and previous celebrations from the past years. There were
no students to personally greet their teachers, no surprises, no hugs. However, this didn’t
prevent the SCNHS teachers to celebrate this occasion. While following observing social
distancing and wearing face masks and face shields, SCNHS teachers celebrated with their
colleagues from their department. Together, they ate a sumptuous lunch, shared stories and
laughter, sang, danced and enjoyed. During this occasion, the teachers remembered the
hardships they went through during the module preparation and distribution, the challenge
brought about by the pandemic and the doubts about the new norm. But this also
reminded them of the reasons why they choose teaching as a profession. They would like to
help students to reach their dream no matter what the situation is. This pandemic won’t
stop the teachers from performing their vocation.
