In this day and age, "e-book generation" is developing at a speed that people in the past could not
even imagine and we cannot deny its vital role in our study, work,…Some people believe that these
types of books will soon replace the monopole role of printed books in the past while others claim
that the extinction of printed books is impossible. From my perspective, hardly can classical media
be replaced by any other type of media.

First to say, traditional media help us avoid getting addicted to technical devices like smartphones,
computers,… These days, people are doomed to spend all day sitting in front of their computer
screens, sometimes for work, but sometimes without any certain purpose. So we need something to
urge us to take a break from the never-ending time surfing the Internet. What is more, reading
printed documents also gives us a better ability to concentrate as we have a tendency to do multitask
and not be able to stay focus while reading something on the Internet. For instance, research claimed
that for every 150 readers reading an article online, 50 of them will leave within seconds and only
some of them read the whole article on the web. To sum up, classical types of media give us a chance
to stay a little far from the longlasting time spending on technicals things and help us keep our mind
on the thing we are actually doing.

Simultaneously, printed means of communication give readers some experiences that we can never
have if we read online. First of all, holding a real book always gives people a feeling of pleasure and
wisdom. And this feeling can encourage us to read more effectively and even imagine some scenes
from the book. Besides, a printed book can be a subtle gift for your friends, family,… Sometimes the
message from the book is also the message that we want to tell to that person as we cannot tell them
directly. Finally, reading printed documents can help us in educating our children. Kids are perfect
mirrors of their parents. One example is that if you spend time on your phone, even you are doing
good things, such as reading books,…, your children can also misunderstand that you are playing
games or surfing the Internet,… It can easily lead to misconceptions for your children. By reading a
real book, you can help your children form a good habit: reading books. As aforementioned, with

To flip the coin, we cannot deny the convenience of new ways of media. A mobile phone can contain
thousands of books while a real book can make our bag much heavier. Otherwise, online books are
much more accessible and much cheaper. We can read online or easily download books in seconds
from the Internet and then we can read them wherever we go, no matter there are wifi connections or
not. We can also highlight and mark some points that we like or want to remember. For these
reasons, it is understandable why technological advances are spreading the speed of light.

Taking everything into account, despite the huge advantage of online documents, it cannot replace
traditional types of media as it makes a beneficial compact on human's lives by giving them a chance
to escape the domination of the Internet and helping them have a better experience.
