EARTH 2100: Sickness

Sickness? A horrid thing in the human world. So microscopic yet so deadly. If let loose

and unattended it could wipe us all out, of course it has no brain to think, no conscious to feel

bad. So, what is to say one day that only the immune would leave since sickness has murdered

out brothers and sisters without a second thought.

Humans relies on human contact and communication so there is no 100% way to

contain a contracted human without containing the whole area this one contracted human lives

in. Without a doubt this contracted human, the host per say, has meet countless other humans.

The host then causing the others to become sick as well, helping the virus, parasite or disease

slowly but shortly take out humans one by one.

A contracted human could travel to another country and in the airport he/she was in

could have gotten a good 50+ more humans sick, 10+ more on the plane and thousands more

in the new country the contacted human is in. This is how simple it is for humans to get sick a

die. A simple handshake and BOOM your 5 hours minimum from your death bed. Now that this

one host has contracted thousands of people the virus is in its first stage of wiping out humanity.

Just like in the movie, how a whole town got a disease within a matter of hours, that

could happen in our world today. It HAS happened in our world countless times (the black

plague, Ebola etc. etc.) but has been contained and cured , so we move on about our days as

though nothing ever occurred . As though a life-threatening disease did not just almost wipe out

humanity. Who is to say that one day we may ignore a sickness or virus and notice it when it is

too late and there is a good 15% of humans left on earth?

In the movie, first minute if I remember correctly, the narrator said these exact words “It

became a race against time. To save our future. To even have a future. “This quote itself

should get you thinking. Thinking about what you yourself would do if you were stuck in this

horrid predicament. How would you protect your kids, your elders, your brothers and sisters? Of
course, right now we have no worries about a life-threatening disease killing us all because of

our advanced technology and what nots.

It is so crazy to think that something so microscopic, so tiny, could kill so many humans

in a couple of hours and we could go about our days without even knowing we are infected until

it is too late. Yet in the end, the 15% alive, the immunes, could get contracted by the new

version of this virus. We must keep in mind though that a common cold could become a virus a

virus could mutate into a disease and a disease is never always 100% the same.

Diseases change and adapt to the medicines we use to cure them and eventually our

medicines will not be enough, and our world will be infested with bodies piled on top of one

another. All of us walking around with masks to cover and protect us from disease but what we

do not know is that disease can be contracted so many ways the only way to keep us all alive is

to wear a full protective body suit .

Sure, it is troubling to think that one day you may not have a family, all killed from the

same disease that we thought was just a normal random fever, or you yourself may be dead

from some deadly disease. But! We could stop all of this from ever happening. WE could stop

our human race from being wiped out but a deadly microscopic organism, simply by advancing

our technology just like a virus advances its attack every new host. WE could live to better

healthier days by helping doctors by keeping our earth clean itself and taking care of ourselves.
