Experiment-12
Aim : There are multiple networks A, B, C and D :-
Network A is working as a Bus Topology; Network B is working as a Star Topology;
Network C is working as a Ring Topology; Network D is working as a Mesh Topology.
All networks are interconnected with each other. Try to send data securely from one
topology device to another topology device.
To implement this experiment we need Router, End devices & Switches.

Step1 : Open CISCO Packet Tracer.

Step2 : Go to End devices and select any End devices, minimum fourteen devices are required
for this network.
Step3 : Go to Network devices and select switch, minimum twelve switches are required for the
connection of this network.
Step4 : Go to Network devices and select Router(PT-Router), four routers are required for the
connection of this network.
Step5 : Now go to Connections and select Automatically choose connection type
To form Network A Bus topology: Connect maximum three End devices with three
switches. Then connect a switch with a router as shown in above diagram.
To form Network B Star topology: Connect atleast four End devices with four switches.
Then connect a switch with a router as shown in above diagram.

To form Network C Ring topology: Connect atleast four End devices with a switch.
Then connect the switch with a router as shown in above diagram.
To form Network D Mesh topology: Connect atleast four End devices with four
switches. Then connect every switch with each other with each switch. Connect a switch with a
router as shown in above diagram.
After this Select Fiber optic wire and join Routers with each other as shown in above diagram.
Allocating IP address in End devices
Step6 : The next step is allocating IP address for individual PC. For this click on PC go to
desktop > IP > type address and click on subnet mask it automatically fills the address and below
it also fills the Gateway do the same for others PC. For example, if your default IP Address for
one network is 192.168.10.1 ; 192.168.20.1 ; 192.168.30.1 ; 192.168.40.1then enter 192.168.10.2
or 192.168.10.3 ; 192.168.20.2 or 192.168.20.3 ; 192.168.30.2 or 192.168.30.3 ; 192.168.40.2
or 192.168.40.3 for PC IP Addresses.

Note: Gateway should be an all over IP of that network so, its address should be different for
both networks. Do the same process for other networks too. Remember to provide different IP
Addresses to other Networks.
Now allocate IP address in router
Step7 : Click on the first router. Go to Config. > Interface > FastEthernet0/0 > type Gateway
address in address column and click on subnet mask it automatically fills the address. You can
refer the image for to follow the step.

Step8 : Now go to FastEthernet4/0 > type IP address in address column(172.16.10.1) and click
on subnet mask it automatically fills the address. Don’t forget to ON Port status of FastEthernet.
You can refer the image for to follow the step.

Step9 : Open router config. > Routing > RIP > and ADD both network basic address which you
provided as Gateway and save it. For example, if you entered 192.168.10.1 and 172.16.10.1 as IP
addresses in router then ADD both the addresses in RIP. You can refer the image for to follow
the step.

Step10 : Click on the second router. Go to Config. > Interface > FastEthernet0/0 > type Gateway
address in address column(type the IP for second network e.g. 192.168.20.1) and click on subnet
mask it automatically fills the address. You can refer the image for to follow the step.

Step11 : Now go to FastEthernet4/0 > type IP address in address column(enter the IP of same
series of 1st router but change the last digit e.g. 172.16.10.2) and click on subnet mask it
automatically fills the address. Don’t forget to ON Port status of FastEthernet. You can refer the
image for to follow the step.

Step12 : Now go to FastEthernet5/0 > type IP address in address column(enter the IP of with
different network id from 1st router but change the last digit e.g. 172.17.10.1) and click on subnet
mask it automatically fills the address. Don’t forget to ON Port status of FastEthernet. You can
refer the image for to follow the step.

Step13 : Open router config. > Routing > RIP > and ADD all the networks address which you
provided as Gateway or IP Addresses and save it. For example, if you entered 192.168.20.1,
172.16.10.2 and 172.17.10.1 as IP addresses in router then ADD these addresses in RIP. You can
refer the image for to follow the step.

Step14 : Now for the third router do the same steps as you done for the second router. For the
third router do the same steps as you done for the first router. Make sure you enter IP Address in
the correct Ethernet connection. For reference you can see the provided images.

Step15 : You can add the shapes in the devices that you used in your network and you can also
add note to write IP Address on them. After this click on add simple PDU to share packets.
Step16 : Now click on simulation and click on auto capture/ play button to see where your
network is successfully sharing the packets.
