The cause of the plague was rats, which carried bacteria and fleas. The plague was spread by
the bite of an infected rat flea. Due to the killing of stray cats and dogs, rats didn’t have natural
enemies and, therefore matters got worse.
They thought because it was due to bad air, that’s why the wore those strange herbs
