 EUCHARISTIC CELEBRATION

INTRODUCTORY RITES

When the people are gathered, the Priest approaches the altar with the ministers
while the Entrance Chant is sung.

When he has arrived at the altar, after making a profound bow with the
ministers, the Priest venerates the altar with a kiss and, if appropriate, incenses
the cross and the altar. Then, with the ministers, he goes to the chair.

When the Entrance Chant is concluded, the Priest and the faithful, standing, sign
themselves with the Sign of the Cross, while the Priest, facing the people, says:

GREETING

In the name of the Father, and of the Son,

and of the Holy Spirit.
All: Amen.

The Lord be with you.

All: And with your spirit.

(These [or similar words] may be used to address the assembly.)

The last Sunday in the liturgical calendar of the Church

celebrates Christ, the King of the universe. This King is a
shepherd who cares for all of us and protects us. He is the
firstborn of all creation to whom everything is subjected.
And Christ is the King who judges the nations on the basis
of care and concern for the needy.

PENITENTIAL ACT

Then follows the Penitential Act, to which the Priest invites the faithful, saying:

Brethren (brothers and sisters), let us acknowledge our

sins, and so prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacred
mysteries.
A brief pause for silence follows. Then all recite together the formula of general
confession:

I confess to almighty God

and to you, my brothers and sisters,
that I have greatly sinned,
in my thoughts and in my words,
in what I have done and in what I have failed to do,

And, striking their breast, they say:

through my fault, through my fault,

through my most grievous fault;
Then they continue:

therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-Virgin,

all the Angels and Saints,
and you, my brothers and sisters,
to pray for me to the Lord our God.
The absolution by the Priest follows:

May almighty God have mercy on us,

forgive us our sins,
and bring us to everlasting life.

All: Amen.

Afterwards the presider, with hands joined, sings or says:

 PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL

Presider: Let us pray to the Father that, as we celebrate the

kingship of his Son, we may always seek his kingdom and
persevere in becoming witnesses to it through our piety
and works of charity. Full of trust, we pray:

Lord, hear our prayer.

1. That through Christ, our King and Shepherd, the shepherds of the
Church may, following Christ’s example, tend the weak, seek out
the lost, and gather all the sheep into one flock, we pray: (R)

2. That through Christ, our Leader and Savior, government and civil
leaders may lead the nation to a more loving and caring
community which promotes and protects the dignity and rights of
the poor, the marginalized, and the weak, we pray: (R)

3. That through Christ, the Word Incarnate, the people who are in
need and in pain may experience the presence of God in the hands
and hearts of those who minister and care for them, we pray: (R)

4. That those who have departed from this life may enjoy eternal
happiness in the company of the saints in heaven. We pray: (R)

5. Let us pray for the urgent concerns of our community and our
personal intentions (pause). We pray: (R)

Presider: Heavenly Father, grant our humble petitions,

that we may live as your faithful followers who proclaim
that your Son is our Master and King by our acts of love
and kindness to our brothers and sisters.
Through Christ our Lord.

 LITURGY OF THE EUCHARIST
PREPARATION OF THE ALTAR AND THE GIFTS

During the preparation of the gifts, an Offertory Hymn is sung and the altar table is
prepared by the deacons and the acolytes.

When the Altar and the gifts have been prepared, the presider takes the paten with the
bread and holding it slightly raised above the altar says:

Blessed are you, Lord, God of all creation,

for through your goodness we have received
the bread we offer you:
fruit of the earth and work of human hands,
it will become for us the bread of life.
R. Blessed be God forever

A concelebrant pours wine and a little water into the chalice saying inaudibly:

By the mystery of this water and wine

may we come to share in the divinity of Christ,
who humbled himself to share in our humanity.

Then the presider takes the chalice and, holding it slightly raised above the altar says:

Blessed are you, Lord, God of all creation,

for through your goodness we have received
the wine we offer you:
fruit of the vine and work of human hands,
it will become our spiritual drink.
R. Blessed be God forever

The presider bows and says inaudibly:

With humble spirit and contrite heart

may we be accepted by you, O Lord,
and may our sacrifice in your sight this day
be pleasing to you, Lord god.

 If appropriate, he also incenses the offerings and the altar. Afterwards, a minister
incenses the presider, then the Concelebrants and the faithful.

Next the presider stands at the side of the altar and washes his hands saying inaudibly:

Wash me, O Lord, from my iniquity

and cleanse me from my sin.

The presider:
Pray, brethren (brothers and sisters), that my sacrifice and
yours may be acceptable to God, the Almighty Father.

All: May the Lord accept the sacrifice at your

Hands for the praise and glory of His
name, for our good, and the good of all His holy Church.

PRAYER OVER THE GIFTS

The presider:

A s we offer you, O Lord, the sacrifice

by which the human race is reconciled to you,
we humbly pray
that your Son himself may bestow on all nations the gifts
of unity and peace.
Through Christ our Lord.

CHRIST, KING OF THE UNIVERSE

V: The Lord be with you.

R: And with your spirit.
V: Lift up your hearts.
R: We lift them up to the Lord.
V: Let us give thanks to the Lord, our God.
R: It is right and just.

I
t is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation,
always and everywhere to give you thanks, Lord, holy
Father, almighty and eternal God.

For you anointed your Only Begotten Son,

our Lord Jesus Christ, with the oil of gladness
as eternal Priest and King of all creation,
so that, by offering himself on the altar of the Cross
as a spotless sacrifice to bring us peace,
he might accomplish the mysteries of human redemption
and, making all created things subject to his rule,
he might present to the immensity of your majesty
an eternal and universal kingdom,
a kingdom of truth and life,
a kingdom of holiness and grace,
a kingdom of justice, love and peace.

And so, with Angels and Archangels,

with Thrones and Dominions,
and with all the hosts and Powers of heaven,
we sing the hymn of your glory,
as without end we acclaim:

 EUCHARISTIC PRAYER III
The Priest, with hands extended, says:

Y ou are indeed Holy, O Lord,

and all you have created rightly gives you praise,
for through your Son our Lord Jesus Christ,
by the power and working of the Holy Spirit,
you give life to all things and make them holy,
and you never cease to gather a people to yourself,
so that from the rising of the sun to its setting
a pure sacrifice may be offered to your name.
He joins his hands and holding them outstretched over the offerings, says:

Priest with Concelebrants.

T herefore, O Lord, we humbly implore you:

by the same Spirit graciously make holy
these gifts we have brought to you for consecration,
He joins his hands and, making the sign of the cross once over both bread and
chalice, says:

that they may become the Body and  Blood

of your Son our Lord Jesus Christ,
He joins his hands.

at whose command we celebrate these mysteries.

In the formulas that follow, the words of the Lord should be pronounced clearly
and distinctly, as the nature of these words requires.

For on the night he was betrayed

He takes the bread and, raising it a little above the altar, continues:

he himself took bread,

and, giving you thanks, he said the blessing,
broke the bread and gave it to his disciples, saying:

He bows slightly.

TAKE THIS, ALL OF YOU, AND EAT OF IT:

FOR THIS IS MY BODY
WHICH WILL BE GIVEN UP FOR YOU.
He shows the consecrated host to the people, places it on the paten, and
genuflects in adoration.

Then he continues:

In a similar way, when supper was ended,

He takes the chalice and, raising it a little above the altar, continues:

he took the chalice,

and, giving you thanks, he said the blessing,
and gave the chalice to his disciples, saying:
He bows slightly.

TAKE THIS, ALL OF YOU, AND DRINK FROM IT,

FOR THIS IS THE CHALICE OF MY BLOOD,
THE BLOOD OF THE NEW
AND ETERNAL COVENANT,
WHICH WILL BE POURED OUT FOR YOU
AND FOR MANY
FOR THE FORGIVENESS OF SINS.

as we celebrate the memorial
of the saving Passion of your Son,
his wondrous Resurrection
and Ascension into heaven,
and as we look forward to his second coming,
we offer you in thanksgiving
this holy and living sacrifice.

Look, we pray,
upon the oblation of your Church
and, recognizing the sacrificial Victim
by whose death you willed to reconcile us to yourself,
grant that we,
who are nourished by the Body and Blood of your Son and
filled with his Holy Spirit,
may become one body, one spirit in Christ.

Concelebrant One:
May he make of us
an eternal offering to you,
so that we may obtain an inheritance with your elect,
especially with the most Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of
God,
with blessed Joseph, her Spouse,
with your blessed Apostles and glorious Martyrs
and with all the Saints,
on whose constant intercession in your presence
we rely for unfailing help.

May this Sacrifice of our reconciliation,

we pray, O Lord,
advance the peace and salvation of all the world.

Be pleased to confirm in faith and charity

your pilgrim Church on earth,
with your servant Francis our Pope
and Daniel our Bishop,
the Order of Bishops, all the clergy,
and the entire people you have gained for your own.

Listen graciously to the prayers of this family,

whom you have summoned before you:
in your compassion, O merciful Father,
gather to yourself all your children
scattered throughout the world.
Concelebrant Three:

† To our departed brothers and sisters

and to all who were pleasing to you
at their passing from this life,
give kind admittance to your kingdom.
There we hope to enjoy for ever
the fullness of your glory

The Priest takes the paten with the host and the concelebrant takes the chalice, lifting
them up, says:

 COMMUNION RITE

THE LORD’S PRAYER

At the Savior’s command and formed by divine teaching

we dare to say:
The assembly sings the Lord’s Prayer.

Our Father, who art in heaven,

hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come;
thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread,

and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil.

The Presider with hands extended, continues alone:

Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil,

graciously grant peace in our days,
that, by the help of your mercy,
we may be always free from sin
and safe from all distress,
as we await the blessed hope
and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

R. For the kingdom, the power,

and the glory are yours, now and for ever.

SIGN OF PEACE

Presider:

Lord Jesus Christ,

who said to your Apostles:
Peace I leave you, my peace I give you;
look not on our sins,
but on the faith of your Church,
and graciously grant her peace and unity
in accordance with your will.

He joins his hands.

Who live and reign for ever and ever.

R. Amen.

Presider:

The peace of the Lord be with you always.

Let us offer each other the sign of peace.

All present make an appropriate sign of peace.

 BREAKING OF THE BREAD

AGNUS DEI

The assembly sings the Agnus Dei.

Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world:

have mercy on us.
Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world:
have mercy on us.
Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world:
grant us peace.

Meanwhile, the presider takes the host and breaks it over the paten. He places a
small piece in the chalice, saying inaudibly:

May this mingling of the body and blood

of our Lord Jesus Christ
bring eternal life to us who receive it.

PRIVATE PREPARATION

The presider says inaudibly:

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the living God,

by the will of the Father and the work of the Holy Spirit
your death brought life to the world.
By your holy Body and Blood
free me from all may sins and from every evil.
Keep me faithful to your teaching,
and never let me be parted from you.

COMMUNION

The presider genuflects. Taking the host, he raises it slightly over the paten and,
facing the people, says aloud:

Behold the Lamb of God

behold him who takes away the sins of the world.
Blessed are those called to the supper of the Lamb.
R. Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof,
but only say the word and my soul shall be healed.

The presider says inaudibly:

May the body of Christ bring me to everlasting life.

He reverently consumes the body of Christ. Then he takes the chalice and says
inaudibly:

May the blood of Christ bring me to everlasting life.

He reverently drinks the blood of Christ.

After this he takes the paten or other vessel and goes to the communicants. He
takes a host for each one, raises it a little, and shows it, saying:

The Body of Christ.

R. Amen.

While the faithful receive Holy Communion, Eucharistic Hymns are sung.

Then all stand for the prayer after communion.

 PRAYER AFTER COMMUNION

Let us pray.
Pause for silent prayer.

H
aving received the food of immortality,
we ask, O Lord,
that, glorying in obedience
to the commands of Christ, the King of the universe,
we may live with him eternally in his heavenly Kingdom.
Who lives and reigns for ever and ever.
All: Amen

If the Exposition is done right after the Mass, the Concluding Rite is omitted.
The priest places the Consecrated Host in the monstrance while the faithful sing
O Salutaris.
The priest makes an appropriate form of reverence and then incenses it.

O SALUTARIS HOSTIA

Quae coeli pandis ostium.

Bella premunt hostilia;
Da robur, fer auxilium.
Uni trinoque Domino
Sit sempiterna Gloria:
Qui vitam sine termino
Nobis donet in patria. Amen.

A Eucharistic Procession is made around the vicinity.

After the procession, the Blessed Sacrament is placed back on the Altar Table.
The following prayers are said.

PRAYER FOR PEACE IN THE WORLD

Lord Jesus, our Savior and King, we come to you in our need.
Create in us an awareness of the massive forces that threaten the
world today. Grant us a sense of urgency to activate the forces of
goodness, of justice, of love and of peace. Where there is armed
conflict, let us stretch our arms to our brothers and sisters. Where
there is abundance, let there be simple lifestyle and sharing. Where
there is poverty, let there be dignified living and constant striving
for just structures. Where is selfish ambition, let there be humble
service. Where there is injustice, let there be atonement. Where
there is despair, let there be hope in the good news. Where there
are wounds of division, let there be unity and wholeness. Help us
to be committed to the building of Your kingdom. Not seeking to
be cared for but to care. Not expecting to be served but to place
ourselves in the service of others. Not aspiring to be materially
secure but to place our security in your love. Teach us Your Spirit.
For it is only in loving imitation of You, Lord, that we can discover
the healing springs of life that will bring about new birth to our
earth and hope for the world and our country. Who live and reign
with the Father and the Holy Spirit, God forever and ever. Amen.

ACT OF THE HUMAN RACE TO THE SACRED HEART

OF JESUS

Most sweet Jesus, redeemer of the human race, look down upon us,
humbly prostrate before your altar. We are yours and yours we
wish to be; but to be more surely united with you, behold each one
of us freely consecrates himself today to your most sacred heart.
Many, indeed, have never known you, many too, despising your
precepts, have rejected you. Have mercy on them all, most merciful
Jesus, and draw them to your sacred heart. Be you king, O Lord, not
only of the faithful who have never forsaken you, but also of the
prodigal children who have abandoned you; grant that they may

 quickly return to their father’s house, lest they die of wretchedness
and hunger. Be you king of those who are deceived by erroneous
opinions, or whom discord keeps aloof, and call them back to the
harbor of truth and unity of faith, so that soon there may be but
one flock and one shepherd. Be you king also of all those who sit
in the ancient superstition of the Gentiles, and refuse not you to
deliver them out of darkness into the light and kingdom of God.
Grant, O Lord, to your Church, assurance of freedom and immunity
from harm; give peace and order to all nations, and make the earth
resound from pole to pole with one cry: Praise to the divine heart
that wrought our salvation; to it be glory and honor forever.

PRAYER TO THE CHRIST THE KING

O Lord our God, You alone are the Most Holy King and Ruler of all
nations. We pray to You, Lord, in the great expectation of receiving
from You, O Divine King, mercy, peace, justice and all good things.
Protect, O Lord our King, our families and the land of our birth.
Guard us we pray Most Faithful One. Protect us from our enemies
and from Your Just Judgment. Forgive us, O Sovereign King, our
sins against you. Jesus, You are a King of Mercy. We have deserved
Your Just Judgment Have mercy on us, Lord, and forgive us. We
trust in Your Great Mercy. O most awe-inspiring King, we bow
before You and pray; May Your Reign, Your Kingdom, be
recognized on earth. Amen.

After the prayers, a brief silence may be observed. Then the priest, kneeling,
incenses the Blessed Sacrament while Tantum Ergo is sung.

After the prayer, the priest puts on the humeral veil, takes the Blessed Sacrament
and blesses the people in silence. After the prayer, he goes back to his place and
leads the faithful in saying the Divine Praises

Blessed be Jesus Christ, true God and true Man.
Blessed be the name of Jesus.
Blessed be His Most Sacred Heart.
Blessed be His Most Precious Blood.

Blessed be the great Mother of God, Mary most holy.
Blessed be her Holy and Immaculate Conception.

After saying the Divine Praises, the priest reposes the Blessed Sacrament in the
tabernacle while the faithful sing O Sacrament Most Holy.

All praise and all thanksgiving
Be every moment Thine,
Be every moment Thine.

Sweet Sacrament, we Thee adore,

Oh make us love thee more and more,
Oh make us love thee more and more.
After the Reposition of the Blessed Sacrament, Mangisalakan, Cristo Dios is
sung.

The Lord be with you.

PRAYER OVER THE PEOPLE

Bow down for the blessing.

Graciously enlighten your family, O Lord, we pray, that by

holding fast to what is pleasing to you, they may be
worthy to accomplish all that is good. Through Christ our
Lord.
All: Amen.

And may the blessing of almighty God, the Father, and the
Son,  and the Holy Spirit, come down on you and remain
with you for ever.
