A virtual classroom is different from the real one.
If in face-to-face lessons students are
waiting for the teacher to enter the classroom, now the situation is different, the teacher waits for the students to log on. As a teacher, while I was waiting for my students to enter virtually, I will display a welcome message on the screen that greet each students as they log on. The template which presented on the screen has a video timer fixed wherein they would know that the class will start in few minutes. This should also include a few minutes to let students know what materials they might need for the lesson (paper, pencil, calculator, etc.) Before the class starts we will have a short prayer that will lead by the student I selected. Knowing we have difficulty with internet connection in our country, I will give students time to log in, while waiting for them I prepared an activity, entitled “Which One Doesn’t Belong,” and this are for those who get in early. This should take about 5-7 minutes to make them ready for our lesson. Next, I will review to my students the norms and rules they will follow during the online lesson because behavior are important. Even in a virtual class we still need to build relationships with our students, by sharing something fun or mysterious about us they will also have the courage to share something about themselves, or you could simply ask a question per meeting. The learning objectives are another important point to present, with an “I can statement” or with their child-friendly language the students will feel that it is their personal learnings. This is also to review and connect their previous learning or present academic vocabulary. This time presenting the lesson will begin with an activity –“What do you notice game,” these are images of patterns or sequence of numbers, after they notice and answer correctly what is on the image, I will give one or two follow up questions to engage them to our lesson. After that you have to define the terms to be used in able to understand the procedures on solving and give the formula for their reference. To work with the students in the learning objectives, I will use virtual manipulatives to catch their attention and to model abstract mathematical concepts for deeper student comprehension. Finally, it’s time for students to practice, and one way to exercise the skill that they develop is to assess them. Using “quizizz,” an online engaging platform, I will group them by three and make them answer the questions I made, I can automatically monitor their scores when they are done answering and can record them immediately. To end the lesson, I will give examples as how to apply the concepts they have learned in daily living and to wrap it up students will reflect and share what they’ve learned through google forms or google docs before they log off.
A sequence is a set of ordered numbers.
There are 4 types of sequence and these are arithmetic, geometric, harmonic and Fibonacci.
An arithmetic sequence is a set of ordered numbers with a common difference.
The formula is a n=a1 + ( n−1 ) d
Where a n=¿ nth term a 1=¿ 1st term n=¿ nth term d=¿ common difference
