Your competition is making it easy for you to bring new


people into your business.
This is because all your competition is focusing on is sell-sell-sell, failing to understand the most important
element of selling.

Understanding your prospect’s problems.


The key to unlocking more sales, deepening rapport and building a stronger organization is to help solve the
problems people are having.

• People respond to solving their problems all the time. When it’s their problem and you’re giving a
solution, they respond 100% of the time. How do you do that if you’re connected with someone?
You ask questions.

• You’re going to get better results with people if you find out what it is that they’re here for and
connect with that. They’re going to stick around longer. They’re going to buy more upsells.

• People will respond to your pitches if you’re giving them value. If you’re giving them value that
solves their problems then they love the pitches.

• Objections aren’t real, ever. They’re never real. They are a smokescreen that someone is putting
up. Most of the time, if you challenge them head on, they go away. The reason people are giving
you objections is to see if you’re real.

• They’re joining you, your vision and the belief that, if they join you, they’re going to get what
they want.

and say, “Give me a call.”

Let’s walk through this. Then I will help. Then we’re going to do some role-play with this.
I want you to understand how to close. I’m going to call you. It’s ringing.

Conversation #1
Dave:
Hello?
Paul:
Hello. I was just reading one of your emails.
I saw your phone number in here. I looked
at your videos for the last few days. I opted
in from your website. I just wanted to call
and talk to you.
Dave:

Paul: How can I help you?

I saw the ad on Facebook. I clicked on that


because I’m not making any money in my
business. I saw your videos and I liked
them. It made sense to me. I’m just
looking to make money.
Dave:
OK. I want to let you know that I have about
five minutes before I get on a coaching call.
If I show you exactly what to do to finally
succeed online, will you follow my advice or
will you continue doing things your own way?
Paul:
Are you going to tell me what to do to
actually make money?
Dave:
Are you going to listen?
Paul:

This is. Who’s calling?
Paul:

Paul, how are you doing? How can I help you?
Paul:
I was just watching this webinar that you
did. I’ve been reading your emails for a few
days. I clicked on an ad from for Amway.
I was really interested. I was wandering
around in Wal-Mart, too. I was just so sick
of prospecting cashiers. I was looking at
your thing. What you’re doing makes sense
to me. I just had a few questions about it.
Dave:
OK. I have five minutes. I’m about to go to
a meeting. If I answer your questions, will
you be prepared to join right now?
Paul:
I don’t know. I think so.

Is this for real? I see you. You obviously picked up
the phone, which surprised me. I didn’t think that
you would. I thought you were some schemer.
I see these people on the webinar. You’re talking
about making money and sponsoring people. I’ve
been struggling for years and I just want to make
sure that I can learn something where I can
really make money.
Dave:
My question to you is, how coachable
are you, from one to ten?
Paul:
I’m really coachable. I’ll listen. If I find someone
who I think is giving me good advice and they
tell me to do something, I’m going to do it.
Dave:
Where are you from a level of one to ten?
Paul:
I’m a little bit arrogant from time to time.
I would say I’m at seven or eight.
Dave:
I can’t work with you unless you’re at twelve.

What is there to think about?
Paul:
I don’t know if it’s for real. I was wondering
if you’re telling the truth or if you’re some
sort of schemer on the internet.
Dave:
Are you prepared to join right now or
are you just here to waste time?
Paul:
No, I just wanted to ask you some questions.

Will you actually help me out if I join
at the $25 level? Dave:
What is your name again?
Paul:
Mike.
Dave:
Mike, can I ask you a question?
Paul:
Yes, sure.
Dave:
You want to make money, right?
Paul:
Well, yes.
Dave:
In making money, do you want to be on the
phone all day and night, helping people who
are only paying you $25 every 30 days? Is
that what you want to do for a living?
Paul:
I’m willing to do whatever it takes, but…
Dave:
For $25 a month, you would spend hours
and hours and make about $1 an hour?
I’m just curious.
Paul:
No, it doesn’t make sense at all.
Dave:
I wouldn’t either. You have two options. First,
I can hang up the phone. Second, you can
stop being a wussy. You don’t want to put up
with bullshit. The reason is because you don’t
need people to join you. They either want to
or they don’t. If you are a pansy, they won’t
ever join. Be the bullshitter, the person who
pounds you with questions. Do you know who
I’m talking about?

How exactly does this system give me
autopilot sales? I want to join but I just want
to make sure that this actually works.
Dave:
It’s not really autopilot sales. What you’re
doing is building a list and marketing. You’re
making sales through your marketing. Does
that make sense?
Paul:
Yes, but just tell me about the autopilot. You
said something in the email that it’s autopilot.
Dave:
Yes, you can get sales on autopilot
where you set up a system and you
have autoresponders going.
Paul:
I know. I’ve been in this thing for a little bit.
I understand what you’re saying. I’ve been in
marketing. I’ve been doing this for a long
time. I’m trying to figure out exactly what
you mean by “autopilot.”
Dave:
You have emails going out.
Paul:
You said something about autopilot. I don’t
have to do anything. That’s the only reason
why I’m on the phone with you.
Dave:
Yes, you’re building a list. Then you have
advertising running. You have a system set
up to sell the products you’re selling. Sales
can happen when you’re doing nothing.
It’s as simple as that.

It still doesn’t make any sense to me.

I tried this other system last year. I was in it
for three months. I kept calling and calling
the guy who I was in under. He wouldn’t
help me with anything.
Dave:
Stop. Here’s the deal. You called me
because you want what?

Kim:
I need to learn how to make money online.
Dave:
You want to learn how to make money online?
How much money do you want to learn how
to make?
Kim:
I want to make $2,000 a month.

Dave:

How much time do you have to dedicate
towards making that $2,000 a month.
Kim:
I don’t really know. I have a job.

Stop. Here’s the deal. I’m not going to listen
to any more complaining. I don’t want any

I know how to help you make money. If you


listen, I’m going to help you. If you don’t listen,
that’s OK. I’m just not going to talk to you. It’s
not because I don’t love you. It’s not because
I don’t think you’re cool. It’s because I have
better things to do.

Here is the reason why. It’s because I’m tied

How much money do you have that you could
invest into your business to get started and
also on an ongoing basis for marketing, along
with your work in order to be able to produce
that result of $10,000 per month?
Carol:
Right now, because I’ve been without work,
it’s a little low.

It’s a little low. What do you mean by that?
Carol:
I’m cash poor right now.
Dave:
You’re cash poor. That means you have how
much to invest into this, specifically in order to
hit your goal of making $10,000 per month?
Carol:
I could probably do $1,000 a month.
Dave:
To a lot of people, cash poor would be $20
so $1,000 a month is a little bit different.
I just wanted to clarify that. That’s on an
ongoing basis to do marketing and test things.
I’m not going to ask you to spend that every
month obviously.

Here’s the question I have for you. How much


could you put into getting your business
started right to make sure you’re on the right
track, hit your goal and make $10,000 a month
and get out of this grind so that you don’t have
to deal with getting laid off from jobs for the
rest of your life?
Carol:
I’m not sure I understand that question? Dave:
How much could you put to your business to
getting started to be able to hit your goal?
Carol:
Right now today?
Dave:
Right now or in the next week.
How much could you do?
Carol:
I could do $1,000.
Dave:
You could do $1,000 right now. On an ongoing
basis, you could put $1,000 into your business.

Then why are you asking about the $25?
Carol:
I got confused with my story here.
Dave:
People tend to get confused when they are
put on the spot. Why are you asking about
the $25? Are you not taking your business
seriously enough to be able to invest in your
education to actually create the results? Just
a second ago, you said that you were serious
about making $10,000 a month.
Carol:
I need to change that. I don’t have $1,000.
I’m on a tight budget.
Dave:
Now you have $1,000. A second ago, you
were trying to fiddle me around for $25 and
get a business started for that. I know we’re
all cheap, but do you take your business

Carol: seriously? Are you willing to do what it takes?

Dave:
Here’s what I’m going to ask you to do. I’m
going to ask you to stretch yourself, not
beyond your means. You’ve told me your
means. In life, we need to stretch sometimes
to be able to hit the goals that we want. If I
lied and said, “Yes, spend no money. Every-
thing is free,” I would send you off on your
way, never being able to hit the result that
you want. Then am I really helping you? I’m
not helping you with that, am I?
Carol:
No.
Dave:
I want to help you. Do you want
me to help you?

Absolutely.

I have a package of products here. I want you
to buy these products specifically because I
want you to be able to get results. The pack-
age of the products that I have is not even
$1,000. It’s $997. I want you to get started

The reason is because I want you to learn


what’s in them and master them so that you
can go out there and confidently feel good
about selling those products. Obviously, if
you sell something that’s $1,000 then you will
earn a little more commissions than if you sell
something that’s $25. Does that make sense?
Carol:
Yes, it does.
Dave:
