Christian Commitment and in truth.
Ruth 1:6-18
Introduction
Love is best defined as commitment. In Ruth's comments to Naomi
we see the two most important areas of Christian love or commitment.
Commitment to God and Commitment to one another.
Matthew 22:37-40 And he said to him, "You shall love the Lord your
God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind
This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You
shall love your neighbor as yourself On these two commandments
depend all the Law and the Prophets."
Commitment to God
Exodus 20:2-3 "I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of
the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery. "You shall have no
other gods before me.
Mark 5:25-28 And there was a woman who had had a discharge of
blood for twelve years, and who had suffered much under many
physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was no better but rather
grew worse. She had heard the reports about Jesus and came up
behind him in the crowd and touched his garment. For she said, "If I
touch even his garments, I will be made well."
Matthew 19:21-22 Jesus said to him, "If you would be perfect, go,
sell what you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure
in heaven; and come, follow me." the young man heard this he went
away sorrowful, for he had great possessions.
Commitment is not in our words alone, it is in our actions.
1John 3:18 Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed
Isaiah 6:8 And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I
send, and who will go for us?" Then I said, "Here am I! Send me."
Matthew 10:22 and you will be hated by all for my name's sake. But
the one who endures to the end will be saved.

Commitment to One Another

It's about helping each other through the hard times
Galatians 6:2 Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of
Christ.
It's about encouraging one another when we are down and out.
1Thessalonians 5:11 Therefore encourage one another and build one
another up, just as you are doing.
It's about being honest with one another
James 5:16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for
one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person
has great power as it is working.
It's about rejoicing together and crying together
Romans 12:15 Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who
weep.
It's even about forgiving one another
Colossians 3:13 bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint
against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so
you also must forgive.
               
Closing

Hebrews 13:5 Keep your life free from love of money, and be content
with what you have, for he has said, "I will never leave you nor
forsake you."

Romans 8:37-39 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors
through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life,

 
nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor
powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be
able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

How to have Eternal Life

Romans 10:10-13 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and
    
with the mouth one confesses and is saved For the Scripture says,
"Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame." For there is
no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of
all, bestowing his riches on all who call on him. For everyone who
calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."
