Plan of Investigation

My group has chosen “crime and violence” from this theme I chose my topic “The
impact of crime and violence on youths”. I chose this topic because I am against the negative
effects that crime has on the youths. As a student of the English A. I will expect that the SBA
will help me develop my vocabulary, comprehension and writing skills. To collect data; I will
be using the internet for different source. I will be using a poster, poem and a YouTube video.
This information will help me write my reflections.

REFLECTION ONE

Stop the youth violence

I was ponding about the violence that young people not only committed against each other but
against themselves as well especially young men. As I was thinking, I remembered reading a
poem a few months ago that give me the same feelings I had back then as I do now. The poem is
called “Our Sons.” I hope it touch you as much as it did me.
Our Sons were never meant to wonder in circles like the Israel, searching for the promise land.
Our Sons were never meant to kill and rape each other by using tongue or putting a gun in their
head. Our Sons are born little boys that will grow up to be men. Our Sons are men who are
scared little boys that never mature within. Our Sons are dreamers, writers and the again. Our
Sons are haters, blind, liars and desperately alone and never free men. In, prison, in courts, on the
streets, our sons are behind bars, in mental and emotional slavery. Our Sons are trapped in a
worldly kind of shame. Our Sons have been lied to and told “Life is not a game.” Oh, but in life
there are winners and losers, throw dice a game of chances. Our Sons have lost hope, are deaf to
the music, on one taught them how to dance. Our Sons are to be more than conquerors, world
changes, and full of destiny. But what does all this is really mean? The truth is in god’s eyes our
sons are to be protected, nourished and fed. It is only they can truly be free.
REFLECTION TWO

End Youth Violence by: Herminia Chow

I wish I can find an answer

To make it all better
And take the pain away
I hope to see that day
Where violence can end
Where we can all be friends
Everyone knows it’s wrong
Yet it still goes on
Can’t you open your eyes?
Can't you hear all cries?
Don't hide from the truth
Violence is plaguing youth
Nothing is the same anymore
Life has turned into a full-scale war
Are you blinded by lies?
By the darkness in the skies
They say nothing can’t be solved
It's hard to fix a problem with nobody involved
You're a part of society
You can be the catalyst, the key
To fixing the mistake of the past
To ensure none of this pain will last
He doesn’t deserve to be scared forever
She shouldn't cry every time she is forced to remember
No one should bleed for long
It happens on the streets
You can find it in ignorant tweets
Hurting doesn’t have to be physical
There’s mental and emotional
We must not be enemies
We have to act like families
Let’s talk things out
Let's erase all doubts
Despite previous events in history
Regardless of what has happened in this country
I continue to hold on to the light
Because I believe this generation can make wrongs right
Shouldn't happiness be our first priority?
Shouldn't peace and kindness and morality?
Tell me why nothing I do is ever enough
Explain to the world why youth have it so tough.
