Hello everyone. Today I will begin the lecture on Christ the Prophet.

We will look into the ministry of Jesus Christ during this time. Jesus held many duties and he
carried out those duties. We will first look into the revelation of the start of the ministry of
Jesus Christ. It’s 1Corinthians chapter 1 verse 20. 1Corinthians chapter 1 verse 20, “Where is
the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made
foolish the wisdom of this world?” 1Corinthians chapter 1 verse 21, “For after that in the
wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of
preaching to save them that believe.” There is one very important thing here. I am starting
today’s lecture on the subject of Christ the Prophet. In 1Corinthians chapter 1 verse 21, it
said, “For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God.” It means
they can never know God with their wisdom. It means man cannot know or understand God
with whatever wisdom they have. Most people believe in their wisdom and in their
knowledge. That is why they think they can know God with their wisdom and knowledge.
Thus, they judge God with those things and there are many times when they speak of God in
a wrong way. God cannot be known through the reasoning, wisdom, and knowledge of man.
God cannot be reached with that knowledge. That is why God revealed Himself. That is to
say, He opened it up and showed it to us. If He doesn’t reveal Himself, we cannot understand
or know God. God allowed His revelation to be seen in history, nature, and in creation. That
is why we say that we can see God in everything. In other words, even from one blade of
grass that springs up from the ground, God reveals Himself. How can that weak blade of
grass break through that hard ground? That is the mystery of life and the power of life is
taking action.

We all know those words from Genesis chapter 1. “Let the earth bring forth grass and the
fruit tree yielding fruit.” This is the Word taking action. Even though we are not planting
seeds today, the ground is still bringing forth grass. Who is making the ground to bring forth
grass? Who makes the ground to bloom flowers? Who is making the ground to bring forth
seeds, to sprout, to bloom flowers, and to bear fruits? This is very mysterious. Through these
things, God is showing us even today that His Word is alive. So, the work of God in
everything and God is being revealed. Isn’t it truly mysterious to see that?

Then through what can we see the revelation of God? Yes, we can see it through history,
nature, and creation, but God revealed Himself through the words of the Bible. We can find
everything that God revealed in the Word and believe in the Word. The Bible is the Word of
God. There is something we need to think about here. It doesn’t mean the Bible contains the
Word of God. The Bible doesn’t include or contain the Word of God. The Bible is the Word of
God. In other words, it’s the inerrant, absolute, and clear Word of God. The beginning of all
revelation concerning Jesus Christ and God is the Bible; the starting point. The starting point
of all our life is the Bible. This is the most precise description and one of the most important
things. The Bible is our starting point and it’s the precise, inerrant Word of God. Thus, we
cannot do anything apart from what the Bible tells us. We cannot find anything. We cannot
find any meaning or revelation. Then we gain all knowledge from the Bible and we know
only what the Bible teaches us. This is the heart and attitude of those who come across the
Bible. All knowledge is gained from the Bible and only what the Bible teaches can be known.
It’s because we can only see and understand what God reveals. We are people with a
limitedknowledge and reasoning to know beyond that. Therefore, we can come to a
realization on the ministry of Jesus Christ through the Bible which is the beginning of
revelation.

In the second ministry of Jesus Christ, let’s take a look at what things were given to us by the
Lord. We will look in John chapter 16, chapter 16 verse 12. “I have yet many things to say
unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he
will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear,
that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. He shall glorify me: for he shall
receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you. All things that the Father hath are mine:
therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.” The Lord said three
things to his disciples, right? It said the first, in John chapter 16, is of sin in verse 9; the
second is of righteousness; and the third is of judgment.Saying “of sin” means “not
believing”; “of righteousness” is going to the Father, ascending after the resurrection; and
“of judgment” means the world, the king will be judged.

There were many things where the disciples could not understand the words of Jesus when
he spoke on his death and the resurrection. Why could they not understand? It’s because
they didn’t know precisely who Jesus Christ was. Because they didn’t know the Lord and it
was impossible for them to understand his ministry, they often thought, “Who is the Lord?
Who is Jesus Christ?”Because they didn’t exactly know that or they didn’t precisely know the
work or ministry he had to do, there were many times when they couldn’t understand the
words of Jesus. If we look in John chapter 16, there is this Word, “I have yet many things to
say unto you.” Jesus had many things to say to his disciples, but why didn’t he say them? It’s
because, “Ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will
guide you into all truth.”The Spirit has to make us realize for us to precisely understand and
know Jesus. If you look at it that way, there were many times when the disciples couldn’t
understand the death and resurrection of Jesus. They didn’t believe. If we look in Mark
chapter 16, Jesus said the disciples who didn’t believe that he arose and didn’t accept the
words of people who reported this had a hardness of heart. After the Lord resurrected and
after the light of the resurrection shined, after the revelation of God and the light of the Lord
taught by God was received into the heart, the ministry of the Lord was now understood.
They believed and realized why the Lord died and resurrected.

As we understand and look into the ministry of Christ concerning the parts where Jesus
Christ is the Prophet, we are able to get a detailed look, “Oh, this was his duty. He did such
things in the world.”There are many people who simply think, “Jesus died for our sins. He
just died for our sins.” However, there were many things he did in this world other than that.
As we look at these things one by one, we can discover exactly what the Lord did for us.

Among the ministry of the Lord, you have heard of the propitiation, right? Propitiation.
Among the ministry of Jesus, he came to this world to reconcile and make peace with God.
It’s because God and man became enemies, and man left. God and man were one, but man
turned his back on God and left. However, God sent Jesus Christ to this world to reconcile
with man who left God and became enemies with God. Then what does the Lord do? He
does this work.

If we divide the ministry of Jesus Christ into two parts, one is reconciliation with God;the
part in reconciling with God. Next is restoring us to the state before we became corrupt with
Adam. So, one is reconciliation and the other is restoration; restoring us. The two greatest
things in the ministry of the Lord are restoring us to the perfect child of God. To restore us,
the Lord has to wash our sins and he saved us. He restores us from the life that is
contaminated by sin to a holy child of God. That is the work God does for us. Why don’t we
take a look in 1Timothy chapter 2? It’s 1Timothy chapter 2. I’ll read from chapter 2 verse 5.
Verse 5, “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ
Jesus.” God is one, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.
Certain people misunderstand this Word and say, “How can Jesus be God when there is one
God?”I think I said this last time that there are many people who realize this wrong. What
this is telling us here is that God is one, and there is one mediator between God and men,
the man Christ. It means Jesus is the mediator; the messenger. In other words, he takes all
the infirmities, lacking, evil, and sin of man. He takes the sin in their place, he receives the
punishment, and he is the mediator who reconciles us to God and connects us. That
mediator is also one. Then that means that it’s only one God who brings us to God to unite
with God and leads us to become one with God. He is our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, the
most important thing among the works done by the Lord, the most important thing from his
ministry is becoming the propitiation to connects us, reconciles us, and make peace with
God. The Lord came to this world to do that and he accomplished it. He was pleased with it.
The way for us to reconcile and become one with God is only the mediator who is the man
Christ. He is the man Christ Jesus. The Bible is clearly speaking of that part of the man Christ
Jesus. He was man, but he was the Son of God, the anointed Christ. He is our mediator; he
connects us to God, reconciles us to Him, and makes us to have peace with Him.

Should we say that this is a job performed by Jesus Christ? The ministry of Jesus Christ, as
we all know very well, can be divided into three parts. Among them, Jesus Christ is the
prophet, Jesus Christ is the priest, and Jesus Christ is the king.If we look at these three things
that Jesus does in his greatest ministry, first is the prophet that I am talking about right now,
second is the priest, and third is the king. They are the prophet, priest, and king. These three
were performed by the Lord in this world in his ministry. Let’s take a look at these three
things of prophet, priest, and king. He is in charge of these three things in his ministry of
being a mediator in connecting us to God and in his ministry as a redeemer in saving us from
sin. If we take a look at the work the Lord does and is in charge of, it’s truly amazing because
the Lord has done many things for us in his ministry. We are looking at the works Jesus Christ
did as a prophet through this lecture right now.

Another thing we should look into is the reason why Jesus Christ had to be a prophet. What
is the reason for Jesus Christ to be a prophet when there are many other prophets? We will
now look into this. Man is ignorant concerning sin. Paul said in Romans chapter 7, “It is not I
that sin, but sin is sinning through me.” Most people sin and they think they are the ones
responsible. But the Bible is saying that it’s not I that sin, but what’s inside of me. Paul said
that, right? “For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. It is
no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.” Paul clearly spoke on the true nature of
sin. The human nature and sinful attributes in us is not us, but sin that dwells in us. We’re
not going to cover sin in this lecture so we’ll just move on, but we have to be freed from the
ignorance of sin and be saved. That is why the Lord had to teach us and make us
realize. Thus, the Lord as a prophet had to do this work. The Lord had to do his work as a
prophet because we are ignorant of sin, we are bound to sin, and we will receive damnation
as sinners. It’s to free us from the ignorance of sin and to save us.

Why don’t take a look in Ephesians? In Ephesians, the Bible is telling us in detail what state
man is in. It’s Ephesians chapter 4. Ephesians chapter 4 verse 17, “This I say therefore, and
testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their
mind.” Now I will read the important part, verse 18, “Having the understanding darkened,
being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the
blindness of their heart: Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto
lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness. But ye have not so learned Christ.” If
we look here, it said their understanding was darkened. Because their understanding was
darkened, they can’t realize or discover. There is also ignorance inside of them and the
blindness of the heart. They are alienated from the life of God because of the blindness of
the heart. That is why they are past feeling given over to lasciviousness to work all
uncleanness with greediness. They are riotous, negligent, given themselves over to
lasciviousness, past feeling, work all uncleanness with greediness, their understanding is
darkened, their hearts are blind, and they are alienated from the life of God. What should
the Lord do with such people? The Lord had to teach these people. If he doesn’t teach the
unenlightened and ignorant man, they can’t return to the Lord, they can’t be saved, and
they can’t realize. Thus, the Lord makes man to realize, speaks to them, and chastises them
as the prophet.

This Word is also in Isaiah chapter 9. There is a part in Isaiah chapter 9 that teaches us what
the state of man was. It’s Isaiah chapter 9. Isaiah chapter 9 speaks of the birth of Jesus
Christ. It’s chapter 9 verse 2. Isaiah chapter 9 verse 2, “The people that walked in darkness
have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath
the light shined.” If we look here, it’s speaking of two things. The people that walked in
darkness and they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death. These people walked in
darkness. They walked in sin. They also dwelt in the land of the shadow of death. What did
they need? They needed the light. Because they can’t realize without the light, they needed
Christ the prophet to be free from the ignorance of sin. The Lord is speaking of these things.

During this time, we will take a general look at Jesus the prophet, Jesus the priest, and Jesus
the king in its entirety. I just talked about the reason why Jesus had to be a prophet. Next is
Jesus the priest. We will search the Bible again for the reason why Jesus had to be a priest.
We all know very well of the reason why he had to be a priest. We have to be freed from all
sin and condemnation. To do the work of saving us from sin, Jesus became our high priest.
That is why we need a priest. As we all know in the Old Testament, the people cannot go out
to God with sin. That is why they make an offering with a sacrifice because they can’t go to
God with sin. Why? It’s to be forgiven of sins. Then who does that work in their place? It’s
the priest. That is why the Bible calls our Jesus the high priest. He is our high priest. Why?
Jesus is the one who takes our sins to God in our place and frees us. Because we needed a
priest to go to God in our place, God made Jesus a priest. That is why Jesus Christ took the
duty and function of a priest. I will be covering this again later, but this is explained in detail
in Hebrews. Jesus Christ is our eternal high priest. He is a priest who bears our sins in our
place before God and takes care of them. One of the truly important things among the
ministry and function the Lord undertook is being a priest. We will cover the specifics
concerning this in the next lecture.

Next, Jesus was king. Why did Jesus have to be king? Why don’t we look in Colossians to see
why he became king? It’s Colossians chapter 1. If you look in Colossians verse 13, it says it
clearly,“Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the
kingdom of his dear Son.”He delivered us from the power of darkness and then translated us
into his dear kingdom.Because Christ is king with authority, power, and dignity, he frees us,
frees us from sin, and made us a citizen of his kingdom by moving us to heaven. That God
delivered us from the power of darkness.God has authority, dignity, and power as king. That
is why we can find the Lord’s greatness, renown, and nobility in the Bible.

The Lord who loves us is pleased to lead us. Within Jesus Christ are the wonderful functions
of being a prophet, priest, and king. He leads us and makes us blessed.I hope we can keep in
our hearts the precious words on the Lord’s ministry towards us that blesses us.

I will end here. Goodbye.
