KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT TOOLS

SUMMARY

The first element of knowledge management is knowledge creation and capture (Google).

Knowledge is continuously being created in any group, corporation or organization because the

very interplay amongst people generates knowledge. One of the number one aims of knowledge

management is to capture the knowledge that is produced during such interplay. Knowledge can

be captured in various ways. Knowledge from outside the enterprise can be captured by getting

access to different sources which includes publication, website, emails and the internet. Content

manage a principle factor of knowledge creation and capture is component management which

entails the creation of an information database. In general, three crucial decisions are concerned

in the process of populating the information database.

The first choice is on how new information could be created, contributed and published.

The second choice is on who may have the access or right to eventually update or delete

information withinside the database. Users if a database are typically provided a couple of paths

to facilitate access to information. Third decision is on which information are worth of inclusion

withinside the database. Information from documents web pages and emails are commonly not

based in accordance to the requirement of the database. The second element of knowledge

management is knowledge sharing and enrichment (Google). This element might be the most

important among the four. It is during the method of sharing that expertise is usually subtle and

enriched groups of practice had been proven to be outstanding means to share information among

people who have a common interest. Incentive scheme to be able to inspire know-how sharing,

certain incentive scheme will ought to be provide.

The third element of knowledge management is information storage and retrieval. The

corporation have to insure that obtained or shared knowledge is conveniently accessible to o

needed. This involved designing and providing information retrieval pathways. The fourth

element of knowledge management is knowledge dissemination. Unless knowledge is effectively

disseminated, the development impact of knowledge will continue to be limited. For knowledge

dissemination to be effective it'll require the transformation of highly individualized tacit

knowledge into explicit knowledge that can be more broadly shared.

RESPONSES

Information and Communication Technology (ICT), it is a broader term for Information

Technology (IT), which refer to all communication Technologies including the internet, wireless

network, cell phones, computer software, middleware, video-conferencing, social network and

other media application and services. ICT is one of the economic development of pillars to gain

national competitive advantage. It can improve the quality of human life because media the mass

communication media in promoting and campaigning practical and important issue such as the

health and social area. And also ICT is very important of the students because, ICT in education

improves engagement and knowledge retention when ICT is integrated into lessons student

become more engage in their work. Because, this technology provide different opportunities to

make it more fun and enjoyable in forms of teaching the same things in different ways. We have

to skills do we need for ICT first, the ability to use computer operating system to access software

programmes and manage the basic functions of a computer. And the second, is being able to

confident use core computer programmes to produce common digital information such as world

documents and PowerPoint presentation. Even though learning ICT is not easy to study because

of different functions of each tools is not easy to memorize and also the operating system. I've

learned a lot of things in ICT.

Most of the things I've learned make me understand how it is important in our life to

have an internet, and also important to know as a thing I've known. It is important to know it and

we could also use in our future even though we are not in ICT class. I hope I could use it to do

some good things and I also can learned further more about this.

HISTORY OF KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT

SUMMARY

The 1970s, the early development of knowledge management came as a result of the work

number of management theorists and practitioners. The pioneering studies made in the late 1970s

by Everett Rogers at Stanford on the diffusion of innovation by Thomas Allen at MIT on

information and technology transfer were largely responsible for the current understanding of

how knowledge is produced, used and diffused within organizations. Box 3.1 banking on

knowledge, the World Bank has been dispensing loans to developing countries for over 50 years.

Two examples of technology solutions that were available for use in early knowledge

management systems can be cited. The 1980s, classical economic theory (CET) does not fully

recognize the value of knowledge as an organizational asset. Thus by the late 1980s, the ideas

that they had developed together with the work done in artificial intelligence and expert systems

gave rise to such concepts as “knowledge acquisition”, “knowledge engineering” and

“knowledge-based systems” and other computer-based ontologies (Google).

The 1990s, by 1990 a growing number of academics and consultants had started talking

about knowledge management as the new business practice (Google). It was only in 1995 when

knowledge management in its current form first received significant attention among

corporations and organizations. By the mid-1990s, it became widely recognized that the

competitive edge of some of the world’s leading companies was for the most part due to the

robust knowledge assets of those companies. Gram. By the end of the 1990s, big businesses

started implementing “knowledge management solutions”. Generations of Knowledge

Management, for many large innovative corporations such as Microsoft and international

organizations such as the World Bank,

Knowledge management has become a standard feature of conducting business.-First generation

knowledge management. Many of the early knowledge management initiatives met with only

limited success.

The first generation knowledge management involved mainly the capture of information

and experience to make them easily accessible to other users within the organization. Thus,

knowledge management was primarily about “knowledge capture” (Google). By properly

Managing this capture of knowledge makes possible the growth of the system into a powerful

information asset.

-Second generation knowledge management in the light of the many practical failures of first

generation knowledge management techniques and their inability to live up to their Promises,

theorists began to study and scrutinize more closely the ways by which knowledge is created and

shared. In view of the growing recognition of the early mistakes and learning from them,

companies have started to take a different approach to knowledge management.

RESPONSES

Knowledge management helps us increased rate of innovation, better communication and

improved business processes. From early 1970s to late 1990s we can say that time is indeed one

of the reasons in change. From 1970-90s knowledge management play a crucial role in our

economy until today. It gives us an idea that knowledge based system and knowledge

engineering improved business and economic status within corporations and organizations.

Knowledge management has become a standard feature of conducting business. And I do believe

that knowledge management is the key to success in any organizations. It helps a lot especially in

the decision making and it also support the growth and development of the persons belong to the

organizations. We need to know the history of early development of knowledge management to

connect with our situation today, I really do believe also that knowledge management play a vital

role in the pandemic that we are experiencing today, which is the Covid 19.

INTRODUCTION TO COMPUTER SYSTEM

SUMMARY

Computer is digital device, working under the control of instruction saved in its personal

memory that can receive information (input) process the data in line with certain rules, produce

information (output), and store the information for future use (Google quizlet).

Information and communication technologies that capture, transmit and display data and

information electronically and includes all devices, applications and networking elements that

allow people to connect in a digital world (Google). An ICT system refers to overall set-up,

consisting of hardware, software, data and its users. ICT systems as a whole include: people,

hardware, procedures, software and data. In order for ICT system to function, it needs to receive,

store, retrieve, manipulate and transmit data. All basic computers consist of four functions: the

input, storage, processing and output. IPO is often referred to as IPOS or input, process, output,

storage. Input devices are any hardware devices that allows you to enter data right into a

computer or have interaction with a computer. One of the popular example of this is the

touchscreen on mobile smartphones.

A storage device is a hardware device that allows you to save data for later use (Google).

Some of the popular storage devices include hard disk drives (HDDs) and solid-state drives

(SSDs). The random – access memory (RAM) refers to a fast, temporary form of storage. All

data and instruction that is currently being executed is stored in RAM. The processing devices

receive data from the RAM, perform sets of instructions, and returns the processed data to the

RAM (Google). However, the two most important processing devices in modern computers are

the following: first, The Central Processing unit (CPU), where it is responsible for processing

general instructions. Every application makes the use of the CPU to collect, decode and execute

instructions as required by the application (Google). The popular output devices in include

monitors/ screens and printers. Lastly, the communication devices it is a hardware device that are

capable of transmitting an analog or digital signal over a wired or wireless connection. Examples
include, a modern and a network interface card (NIC) that can be either wired or wireless. There

are two types of software: the and second, The Graphics Processing Unit (GPU), it is responsible

for processing the instructions that create the images to your screen, for example, three-

dimensional video games rely closely on the GPU to create their images (Google). The output

devices are devices that return the computer systems instructions, as results, to the user.System

Software it is the specific type of software that manages the flow of data and the information

contained on the computer. The operating (OS) is the most important type of system Software.

The example of this are the Microsoft windows, Linux, MacOS, IOS and android. And second is

the program that is built for a specific purpose, like sending a message, browsing the internet, or

typing a document. Application software refers to any software that lets the user accomplish a

function or create content (Google). The aapplication software requires system software in order

to function, without the presence of each one of them one will not be functioning. This type of

software includes media players, spreadsheets and word processors (Google).

Once we understand how the computers operates, it becomes a lot easier to think about

creating your own programs. When you start learning about coding a program, you need to

recognize that you have to create a set of step- by – step instructions that manages the flow of

information (Wikipedia) : from when your program gets information from the user, up to the

point when it returns output back to the user (Google). And through that we will not feel hard to

create or make our own website or even inputting files that related to our works or something

important for us.

RESPONSES

ICT permeates all factors of life, imparting newer, better, and faster ways for people to

interact, network, searching for help, gain access to information, and learn. Besides its

presence everywhere, Information and Communication Technology has a huge economic

significance.ICT in education improves engagement and information preservation: When ICT is

incorporated into lessons, college students turn out to be extra engaged of their work. This is due

to the fact that it provides us different opportunities to make it greater amusing and fun in terms

of coaching on the same things with different methods. ICT has contributed plenty to extrude our

regular lifestyles including letter to e-mail, marketplace buying to online buying, projects in
school, etc. ICT is particularly use in Home and Domestic Activities, Social Networking,

Education, Health, Commerce, Banking, and Employment. Here, I’ve learned how the

information or data will input and stored to the computer and how will it release and send to

another computers or some other technological devices in short how the information processing

cycle works with the use of computer devices.

Honestly, learning ICTs is very difficult because of different function of each tools that is

not easy to get and memorize but even how hard it is, it is still important to learn because it is

really useful to my present and future life. However, I do agree that ICT is one of the economic

development pillars to gain national competitive advantage. It can enhance the quality of human

life due to the fact that it could be used as a learning and education media, the mass

communication media in promoting and campaigning practical and crucial issues, inclusive of

health and social area.

Practically, nowadays computers or technological devices plays as an important role,

particularly to us college or even high school students basically tor our online classes since this is

our way of schooling now, it is really a big assets to us in order to continue our schooling and

providing ourselves with a quality education despite of this calamities and epidemic that we

suffered and faced nowadays. And of course most especially to all business man and woman,

teachers and many other professionals through learning ICT and being proficient in using

computers will have a great help to them ‘coz this is the most important assets will they have to

develop and boost up what they really want to boost in their companies . Computer device have a

huge function to all of us especially to all businesses, they can stored important files of the

company, if they work and have meetings to some clients they can simply use computers and do

chatting and communicating them. Nowadays, businesses depend on ICT for business good due

to this pandemic Covid 19 in order to continue the economic development despite of that.

DEFINING KNOWLEDGE MANAGENT

SUMMARY

In this topic there is no universally accepted by experts, put very simply, knowledge

management is the conversion of tacit knowledge into explicit knowledge and sharing it within

the organization, technically and accurately, KM is the process through which organization

generate value from their intellectual and knowledge based assets, it becomes apparent that KM

is concerned with the process of identifying, acquiring, distributing and maintaining knowledge

that is essential to the organization.

If one considers KM in the broadest context, then there are multifarious definitions of

KM.All definitions hint at the same idea but each one focuses on particular aspect of KM.This

trend had resulted in a number of techniques being develop and applied such as "Knowledge

Technology “which analysis knowledge sources by using these techniques, organizations are able

to implement “Knowledge analysis and knowledge planning in much the same manner as the

application of earlier "tools of information analysis and information planning" (Google).

The second aspect of KM is people management, basically this involved the management of

Tacit knowledge that besides inside the heads of people process involving a complex set of

dynamic skills, know and how and other knowledge related capabilities. Both aspect of KM

embody two immediate concerns which is to make organizational knowledge more productive

and to produce benefits that are significantly greater than those envisioned.

There are four pillars of KM.First is "Management and Organization “the first is most

important pillar of KM is the commitment at the highest level of management. This commitment

is absolutely essential to the success of any KM initiative without such commitment, KM

initiatives are bound to fail. The commitment from the top management can come in two ways.

Firstly, the managers of the highest levels should serve as role models by sharing and using

knowledge themselves. The best way to promote KM and demonstrate its strategic importance is

for top management.Secondary,a structure to support KM should be implemented. Second

"INFRASTRUCTURE" all KM systems require a certain level of technology and infrastructure

support to be effective. As a business process become increasingly complex KM can be fully

implemented only when appropriate information in communication technologies are available.

“People and Culture" the KM process within an organization must take into account not only the

Process and material resources but, more importantly, the people by whom knowledge is

generated. There are three elements of People and Culture.Firstly,is the redefinition of

organizational structure determines the manner by which decision is made as well as the

accountability for material in human processes and resources, second,Human resources

management practices, includes acquires (recruitment).Enabling (training),Evaluating

(performance measurement) developing (career management) and rewarding (Compensation)

The knowledge workers. And lastly, a consistent organizational culture to flourish it is important

to create climate of trust and an environment of openness where continuing learning and

experimentation are valued, appreciated supported by everyone in organization.

KM is important because it boost the efficiency of an organizations decision-making

ability. In making sure that all employees have access to the overall expertize held within the

organization, a smarter workforce is built. Who are more able to make quick, informed decisions

that benefits the company? The main goal of Km is to improve an organizations efficiency and

save knowledge within the company.

RESPONSE

Through knowledge management latent point of congestion that hinders the flow of

knowledge towards decision and action can be identified.

And with the application of Actual the different aspects of knowledge management can function

in a seamless and coordinated manner.Infact it has been shown again and again that when

knowledge is managed well, there is significant reduction in the time needed to complete tasks

and unnecessary duplication is greatly minimized, if not avoided.

Knowledge management is very important in our lives especially at work. Because it helps us to

do well in every endeavor. Especially at work knowledge management can be used to have a

good plan for the development of a stablishment. And will definitely make a big contribution to

every strategy of the company. It will also make us a good employee and better one.it will give

us more knowledge on how to manage and to know our obligation as one worker. And to be a

responsible of every decision we make.
