SELECTION CRITERIA SHEET – ANDREA INDRANANDA

I am writing to apply for the position as a Peer Advisor for the Student Success Program. Having
recently finished my second year of Bachelor of Design (Honours) in Architecture and successfully
completing 192 credit points, I believe that academic and extracurricular experiences, wide range of
skills, and genuine passion for connecting and learning with others make me an ideal candidate for
this position.

As my expected finish date is December 2020, I still have 192 credit points remaining to complete.
Thus far, I have demonstrated a high level of success during my university career, both in my
extracurricular activities and my academics.

As the Vice Project Officer of IndoFair 2018, the largest annual cultural festival held at QUT, I
demonstrated dependability in managing multiple responsibilities with little supervision whilst at the
same time delegating tasks and collaborating with our team to achieve our collective goal of sharing
and embracing the cultural diversity that exists in QUT. These responsibilities included liaising with
our representative from QUT Student Engagement and Sport, organizing and maintaining
communication with the performers and stall holders of the event, as well as running weekly team
meetings to keep up to date with goals and maintain a positive team dynamic. From this
opportunity, I developed key listening and communication skills especially I effectively conveyed
critical information given by QUT Student Engagement and Sport to our IndoFair team that would be
crucial in achieving the success of the event.

As the current Secretary of the Indonesian Student Society of QUT (ISAQ), I demonstrated my
capability to organize effectively as I manage day-to-day administration responsibilities as well as
maintain and contribute to important documentation such as official letters and correspondences
with external parties from QUT.

Throughout my time as a student of architecture, I have also developed key skills in design thinking
as well as creative problem solving. Each assignment brief is a series of challenges, which are then
solved by a range of innovative and creative solutions that all come together to create a cohesive
and effective design intent. Having well developed computer and information literacy skills as well as
listening and communication skills has been vital in helping me communicate these solutions. Having
a solid understanding of various design programs, Photoshop and Revit, as well as word processing
programs, Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, has been critical in ensuring that I am able to convey my
design intent and ideas effectively and with a thorough level of detail. Through both tutor and peer
reviews, I have learned to communicate these ideas orally in an articulate manner as well as the
value of listening to suggestions and criticism to further improve my designs. I believe all of these
skills can be applied beyond the classroom and towards this position as Peer Advisor as I can
contribute to discussions and help my peers with their personal difficulties through creative and
tailored solutions.

Both my academic excellence and strong work ethic is demonstrated by my inclusion into the Dean’s
List for Academic Excellence for semester 1 of both my first and second year. My ability to balance
various responsibilities and abide by QUT rules is also demonstrated by the Creative Industries
International Scholarship that I have maintained since the beginning of my university education as I
continuously strive to achieve a 6+ average GPA.

As an international student living away from my family in Brisbane for the first time, I am also well
aware of the value of the support and encouragement of my peers in order to not only survive but
also thrive in my university life. The peers that I have met both in my degree as well as my
extracurricular activities have given me valuable insight on the importance of including and caring
for others as we all deal with various challenges both inside and outside of the classroom. Through
their support, I have developed a genuine passion for wanting to connect and grow with my peers as
I can share the lessons that I have learned from my personal perspective and experiences.

I am confident that these examples have proven that I am an ideal candidate for the position of a
Peer Advisor. I believe that my constant encouragement for self-growth, wide range of skills,
extracurricular and academic successes, and, above all, my motivation to contribute towards an
engaging, supportive, and positive learning community at QUT will make me a valuable member of
the Student Success Program team.

Thank you for your time and I hope to hear from you soon.

Kindest regards,

Andrea Indrananda
