Kibby Sampling Machine

It is single needle, automatic high speed machine to produce sample of carpet.

FEATURES

 It produces sample of size 18”×18”.

 It is single needle tufting machine.
 Up 40 colors of yarn can be used.
 Generally for portrait making.

OBJECTIVE OF SAMPLE

 Colour Variation :-It is common for an installed carpet to show a small difference in
colour or shade from the selling. It should be noted that colour assessment is subjective
and may be affected by lighting conditions so recommends that carpet samples be
viewed in different lighting conditions.
 To check functional property of carpet:- abrasion resistance ,compression, tensile
strength etc.
 To Check the effect of tuft density on carpet

PRINCIPLE OF TUFTING

“U” shape tufts are inserted into the pegboard with the “tail” of the tuft being towards the
operator and the loop of the tuft being away from the operator.

 Cut Pile Samples are usually made by applying a backing material to the loop side of the
sample and then shearing the tails level, before removing the sample from the
pegboard.
 Loop Pile Samples are made by applying a backing material to the tail side of the sample
before removing the sample from the pegboard.

 Sometimes cut pile can also be prepared by backing on tail side also.

Design Preparation and PreSetting

Design making by CAD then Transfer the design onto machine (by CD) .Opening the pattern
(The KIBBY can accept patterns in either .pat .bmp or .kby format, as well as commonly used
windows graphics formats such as jpg, gif, tif etc) .Set the position of the colour bar on screen
of the machine. Setting the pegboard. Load the yarn package as per the design on the creel.
Open the colour bar. Setting up the colour bar .Set the start position.
Note : Set all corners If you have not used the pegboard before. And also if you changed the
needles.

PASSAGE

Podging- Instertion of tuft in the pegboard

 Color bar with selected yarn moves just above the gripper
  Opened Gripper jaw slides upward at the selected yarn
 Gripper jaw close to grip the yarn and slides down with the yarn
 Guides move inward to guide the same yarn
 End out detector scan whether the yarn is present or not
 Cutter moves inward and Gripper open , it cuts the yarn and move outward
 Needle moves inward with yarn in the pegboard with simultaneous release Of the yarn
from the guide
 The cycle ends ready to start again on the next hole and Color bar moves for new color
and pegboard moves to next hole

Pegboard- it holds the tuft inserted by the needle.

Backing :

1. Insert the Modra hot melt backing material in the hot melt processor
2. Finishing the backed sample by shearing the long tails from the sample
3. Place the Modra Hot melt backing on the sample:

6. Remove the sample from the pegboard.
