Day 3 of Week September 10, 2019

10-Faith 6:30 – 7:30 10-Love 9:45-10:45
Schedule

I. OBJECTIVES

The learner demonstrates understanding of key concepts of circle and coordinate

A. Content Standard
geometry.
B. Performance The learner is able to is able to formulate and find solutions to challenging situations
Standard involving circles and other related terms in different disciplines.
C. Learning The learner derives inductively the relations among chords, arcs, central angles, and
Competencies inscribes angles.-M10GE-IIc-1

At the end of the lesson, students should be able to:

1. recognize the terms related to circle;
D. Specific Objectives
2. name the terms related to circle; and
3. manifest accuracy in one’s activity.

II. CONTENT Geometry

A. Topic INTRODUCTION TO CIRCLES

III. LEARNING RESOURCES

A. Grade 10 Learner’s Module
A. References DepEd, Republic of the Philippines

B. Other Resources Power Point, board –chalk, and laptop

IV. PROCEDURES
Group Activity: Pictionary
Mechanics: Each group will have their turns in playing the game. They will be given 2
minutes each to play. First, each group should pick a member who will draw the
words they will get from strips of paper in a box. Once, the other members have
guessed what their representative have drawn, the representative can get more strips
of paper for them to draw and their members to guess, so that they can earn more
A. Review previous
lesson and skills points during the allotted time. The group with the most earned points will get a
prize.

Most of the objects to be drawn are circle in shape, for example; plate, clock, wheel
and etc.
B. Establishing the
purpose of the
lesson
C. Approaches/
Strategies drill, class discussion, board work, timed test and pair-share

D. Discussing new
concepts and
Circle- A circle is a round plane figure whose boundary (the
practicing new circumference) consists of points equidistant from a fixed point (the
skill# 1
center). Its radius is the distance from the center to any point on its
circumference. The diameter is any straight line that passes through the
center of the circle and whose end points lie on the circle.

Parts of the Circle

Parts of the Circle Description Figure

Radius It is a segment drawn

from the center of a circle
to any point of a circle.

Diameter It is a segment whose

endpoints are on the
circle and it passes
through the center of the
circle. It is the longest
chord.

Chord It is a segment joining

any two points on the
circle.

Minor Arc It is an arc of a circle that

measures less than of a
circle.

Major Arc It is an arc of a circle that

measures greater than of
a circle.

Central Angle It is an angle whose

vertex is at the center of
the circle and with two
radii as its sides.

Inscribed Angle It is an angle whose

vertex is on a circle and
whose sides contain
chords of the circle.

Try this!
Label the parts of a circle.

E. Discussing new
concepts and Naming the parts of a circle by its Lines, Line Segment, Angle and Arc
practicing new
skill#2
Line- a line is an infinitely thin, infinitely long collection of points extending in two
opposite directions. A B
Line can be named like this; AB ´

Line Segment- has two endpoints. It contains these endpoints and all the points of
the line between them.

Example:
A B line segment
´
can be named like this; AB

Arc- A portion of a circumference of a circle.

Minor arc

Example:
BA while the major arc can be named like ^
the minor arc can be named like ^ BCA .

Angle- the space (usually measured in degrees) between two intersecting lines or
surfaces at or close to the point where they meet.

Example:
can be named by putting this angle symbol AOC CBA

Try This!
Name the following parts of a circle by its line, line segment, arc and angle.
