Guide
This document is intended to serve as a helpful tracker for anyone who is
working through the Lingua Latina per se Illustrata (LLPSI) series. This
brief guide will simply serve to help provide an overview of how to use this
document as well as the various forms of notation used by it.
Below the top of each section, titled either LLPSI Pars I or LLPSI Pars
II, a table of names and abbreviations will be found. In the left column of
each table are the abbreviations used for each book in the progress tracker
tables; in the right column the full names corresponding to each abbreviation
are found. Right next to each abbreviation is a small empty box, which can
simply be used to indicate whether the book itself is owned yet.
In each abbreviation table and each progress table, abbreviations will ei-
ther be bolded, italicized, or plainface. A bolded abbreviation indicates that
the book is the main reading; a plainface abbreviation indicates that the
book follows the chapter structure of the main reading; and an italicized ab-
breviation indicates that that the book does not follow the chapter structure
of the main reading, and should simply be read concurrently along with the
main reading and any other readings.
Below each abbreviation table, the progress tracker itself is found. In
the leftmost column for each progress table is the chapter number along with
three boxes. Box one indicates whether or not the chapter has been read; box
two indicates whether or not the chapter has been re-read a second, a third, or
multiple times; and box three indicates whether or not the relevant exercises
for that chapter have been completed, if there are any. Arrows between book
abbreviations simple indicate the range of chapters, corresponding to the
chapters of the main reading, in which the book should be read.
In the section LLPSI Pars II, the first four ”chapters” are simply indi-
cated with ellipses, with four provided readings: Sermones Romani, Epitome
Historiae Sacrae De Bello Gallico and Amphityro. The ellipses simply indi-
cate that these books should be read in an ”interim period” of sorts between
the completion of LLPSI Pars I and the beginning of Roma Aeterna. As
indicated in the progress chart, the recommended order for this interim pe-
riod is starting with Sermones Romani, moving to Epitome Historiae Sacrae,
then to De Bello Gallico, and finishing with Amphityro.
