Vice President, Strategic Planning


The Strategic Planning Department provides strategy-based planning, consulting and advisory services that enable
Countrywide, its subsidiaries and divisions to develop, align, communicate and executestrategies and measure their
success.

The Vice President within the Corporate Strategy and Planning Group, partners with
senior management to address a variety of corporate strategic issues, with a focus on
disciplined management of long term profitable growth, diversification of the markets
and products in which we compete, relationship strategies with customers and
business partners, and definition of strategies related to cross -segment business
issues.
Duties involve scoping, planning and executing res earch and analysis to support
corporate strategy decisions, contributing to building and managing the long term
corporate strategic vision and plan, building and managing relationships with senior
executives, supporting alignment and communication around t he corporate strategy,
performing special projects on corporate strategy issues, and making presentations to
management regarding analysis, findings, and recommendations.
Primary responsibilities include:

- Corporate strategy project-based research and analysis.


- Corporate strategic plan development and support.
- Special projects.
- Professional development .
A successful candidate will have:
- 7+ years of professional work experience.
- 5+ years of post-graduate (Masters) work experience in a corporate strategy or
strategy consulting environment.
- MBA preferably from a leading business school.
- Deep experience addressing corporate-level, external-facing strategic issues.
- Proven problem solving, conceptual thinking, and analytical abilities.
- Proven ability to scope, plan and execute project-based research and analysis.
- Prior experience in a strategy consulting firm or internal corporate strategy group.
- Strong executive-level communications skills.
- Financial Services experience strongly preferred.

The Vice President, Strategic Planning will manage a small but well -trained team. It is
expected that the VP¶s staff will serve both as an entry point for attracting and
developing high-potential talent from outside the company, as well as a
developmental experience for high -potential individuals within the company to
support planning goals across the company. He/she will work closely with the
company¶s operating leaders and key members of the C -level group related to the
planning process and other activities. The position may also work with external
consultants on various corporate and business unit strategic projects. 

The key responsibilities of this position will include, but are not limited to:
‡Proactively identify, develop and s upport initiatives that advance enterprise strategic
objectives to enhance the customer experience, achieve process improvements, enter new
markets, and grow the business;
‡Refine, lead and manage a high quality strategic planning process (including Board of
Directors presentations) that produces a clear, comprehensive, financially integrated and
forward looking strategy for the company and its businesses;
‡Identify key trends and emerging changes in the industry and communicate implications and
options to executive leaders. Develop, challenge and frequently re -visit strategic assumptions
about customers, competitors and the environment to gain and sustain competitive
advantage;
‡Identify and quantify the likely contribution of major business segments based on market
growth and competitive position. Monitor progress against strategic goals and recalibrate as
needed;
‡Develop a corporate strategy team that can serve as a talent pool for future business

Description
The Vice President, Strategic Planning & Analysis will play a leadership role with full responsibility for
strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting and analytical activities. As a public company that?s
experiencing rapid growth, we?re looking for a senior -level hands-on leader who has seen best
practices, particularly around managing long -term and annual strategic planning processes, leveraging
enterprise planning systems and forecasting. The position includes developing and driving the long -
term strategic planning processes, annual and quarterly budgets, financial forecasts and analyses,
overseeing the development and delivery of management reporting environments, monitoring key
performance indicators and driving companywide financial performance initiatives. A key aspect of the
position will be to partner closely with the Company?s executive and senior manage ment to drive
business insight and companywide financial results, and to provide fact -based thought leadership on
key strategic and financial decisions. The position will initially have a team of seven and will report to
the Company's SVP, Chief Financial Officer.
Responsibilities include:
‰orking closely with the executive team and departmental leadership to develop
long-term strategic plans, annual budgets and operational analysis and reporting;
providing thought leadership in the creation department level key metric dashboards
Leadership role in provide analytical perspectives to important strategic decisions, including M&A
activities
Leading company-wide strategic planning, budget and quarterly target -setting processes, including
weekly forecasts and key performance monitoring
Working with executive management to maintain three -year long range plan that incorporates the
financial impacts of Company strategies and initiatives
Playing a leadership role in the ongoing development of business intelligence and budgeting tools
Providing support to our month -end and quarter-end closing and external reporting processes
Driving weekly internal processes to maintain and improve quarterly financial outlook
Leading the development, monitoring and reporting of key oper ational metrics and driving processes to
improve consistent productivity and efficiency improvements
Performing ad hoc financial analysis to support key business decisions


Vice President, Strategy Planning & Reporting


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
‡ Develop strategic with senior executives to implement strategy, design performance

metrics and monitor planned results. Examples include: acquisitions, business


combinations, new product lines in business, market entry strategies,

‡ Direct & oversee delivery of strategic & financial presentations to Managing Director

and Board of Directors

‡ Direct the development, consolidation and systems delivery in SAP of the BU¶s worldwide operating
plans, including: long term plans, budgets, rolling forecasts, cash and capital budgets, ultimates and
sales plans. Provide detailed analysis of plan assumptions and variance to plan explanations to BU and
Corporate Finance management.
‡ Direct the consolidation of the BU¶s worldwide operating results in the format requir ed by Corporate
FRB for financial reporting purposes as well as in the format required by BU senior executives for
management reporting purposes.
‡ Design and develop management reports to facilitate business decision support activities for BU
senior executives.

‡ Consult with and advise department heads and division management as to


operational impact of new business plans, resource plans, space plans, new deal
analysis, budgets, sales presentations, cost savings opportunities and other financial
matters.
‡ On a periodic basis (weekly, monthly, quarterly), monitor and evaluate actual financial performance
against operating plans and partner with executives to ensure divisional profit goals are attained.
‡ Develop & refine financial data model in S&D system (ALFRED) as well as SAP to optimize reporting
across multiple dimensions for multiple constituents (FRB, BU Executives, Participations, etc.).
‡ Other special projects as required.
