Big bold cables and and buttons make sizing: finished cowl measures 23” long and 7” tall
for a quick stylish knit, for you or as a
perfect gift! Knit in bulky yarn, this cowl materials:
makes for a great first cable project. ? Yarn: 100 yds bulky weight yarn (sample shown in Sweet
Fiber Merino Big Twist in ‘sea glass’)
? Needles: US #11 / 8mm (or as required to meet gauge)

Notions: darning needle, two 1.5” buttons

Cast on 22 stitches. Weave in ends, sew buttons on corresponding to
buttonholes. Wet block your scarf.
Knit 6 rows.
Wrap up your beautiful gift for someone special!
Buttonhole row: [k6, work 2 st buttonhole (instructions
below)] twice, k6
Knit 5 rows.
Row 1, 3, 7 (RS): k3, p1, k6, p2, k6, p1, k3
? abbreviations:
Row 2 (and all WS rows): k4, p6, k2, p6, k4 c6f - cable 6 front - slip 3 sts onto cable
Row 5: k3, p1, c6f, p2, c6f, p1, k3 needle, hold in front of work. K3 from LH
Row 8: as row 2 needle, k3 from cable needle.
Work rows 1-8 a total of 9 times. k - knit
LH - left hand
Knit 8 rows. p - purl
Bind off all sts. RH - right hand
RS - right side
2 stitch buttonhole: slip 2 sts, pass the first over the
st(s) - stitch(es)
second, slip 1 more st, pass the first over the second (2
WS - wrong side
sts bound off), slip 1 st from the RH needle to the LH
needle. Cast on 2 sts to the RH needle.
