Industry Trends, Solutions to be Discussed at Upcoming iTech Summit


 Industry watchdogs predict the IT industry to see an annual growth rate of 4% over
the next five years.
 Some of the top trends to watch for include cloud computing, social media, smart decives, green
computing, context-aware computing, network and system maintenance
 and innovation. (Gartner, Inc. research)
 Chuck Wright, Director of the iTech Summit, says sustainability will top the list of industry
trends.
 “IT has a critical environmental role to play, from helping to ensure compliance to enabling
green computing.” –Wright.
 Passes to the conference are valued at $295, but are complimentary to qualified IT
professionals.
 The exhibitions will take place in Montreal (Apr. 5), Toronto (Apr. 7), Calgary (Sept. 20), and

AT&T iPhone beats Verizon in Nationwide 3G Speed Tests


 The two iPhones have faced off in thousands of broadband tests, and the results are in: AT&T’s
network is faster.
 Ookla, the creators of the Speedtest.net broadband test.
 On average, the reported AT&T iPhone transfer rates were roughly two times faster than
Verizon iPhone’s.

Telltale Games Believes The Future of Gaming is Digital


 Small San Rafael, CA based videogame company Telltale thinks it has the right
way to sell games.
 Steve Allison, SVP of marketing for Telltale Games, says the magic is all in
Telltale’s
formula to build games in bits and pieces, which doesn’t fit squarely with today’s trends.
 Telltale’s games are written as a narrative or a cinematic adventure and are divided into five
separate episodes.
 Players download a new one every four weeks for a 6 month period. Season passes for the
games cost roughly $35 and include all episodes.
 Yesterday the company announced an exclusive worldwide publishing agreement with Warner
Bros. Interactive Entertainment to develop videogames.
 Telltale is also working with Universal Pictures on “Back to the Future” and “Jurassic Park”
games.
Internet use Around the World Continues to Grow (really really fast)
 According to the Mobile World Congress in 2010 there are 5 billion mobile
phone accounts worldwide (73% of the world’s population).
 That’s double the number of Internet connections, with only 29% of the
world’s population using the Internet.
 More than twice as much business will be done in future as is done today, at a very conservative
estimate.
 The fastest growing language on the web ISN’T Chinese in percentage terms, it’s Arabic (19 % of
Arabic speakers are connected) with a 2,500% rate of growth the past decade.
 Russian is 2nd with 1,825% rate of growth, and Chinese is 3 rd with 1,300% growth over 10 years.
