It is an honor to recommend Tom DeGrand as the Assistant Principal at West Bloomfield Middle School.

I had the pleasure of working with Tom my first summer as an employee at West Bloomfield School
District in 2018. My first day at WBSD Summer Camp Tom made me feel welcome and part of the team.

Throughout his seven years as the Summer Camp Director, Tom led the group with creative academic
lesson planning, field trip coordination, and on-site assemblies featuring West Bloomfield Public Library
and Oakland County Parks.

During our time together, I learned Tom has a genuine zest for making learning fun while instilling the
4Cs. Tom used iCenter technology and his presentation skills to “WOW” the campers.

It’s not just his leadership and teaching skills that impress me, Tom’s positive relationships with the
families was a key element to camper retention and community involvement. He was always timely and
eager to greet campers and families while building rapport with parents at dismissal. He instilled a level
of respect with camp staff and campers based on high professional standards.

Tom’s contributions and dedication to Summer Camp and the district along with his passion for
advancement is inspiring. He would be a strong asset to West Bloomfield Middle School community,
staff and students.
