PHILOSOPHY -
Believed that architecture begins after you put four walls & the roof - this is what he called “Non-
manifest part”
The immediate surrounding is the source of construction materials - stone, straw, reed, wood or mud
is the indigenous materials for constructing an enclosure.
The relationship between human being & the building being established, what develops & grows
around becomes a measure for man & his society.
There is a place for everything & everything has it’s place.
Spatial configuration is his design is an attempt to invoke a spirit that will establish a symbolic bond
between the present & the past.
FORM -
Realization of shelter form & its content are in response to a given place, climate & time.
Context is important.
AESTHETICS -
It is the aesthetics of openness contrasted with enclosures that highlights the different features from
the rest of the facade.
Facades communicate through solids & voids.
In operational realities, if an attempt is made to highlight the ideological postures leading to the
directions of value as accepted design-decisions resulting into tangible architectural ambient, the
efforts are also directed towards creating a preference in the public mind for consumption of good
design in their day to day living.
The various projects he has undertaken since then reflect the consistent contextuality inherent in his
design philosophy, a preference for local materials & craftsmanship as well as willingness to
experiment with the language of built form without compromising the prevailing ambience.
