      Chapter 01

      Birth Horoscope

      The birth horoscope is the basic tool for predictions. All delineations start from it. For promise of birth of child fifth house is to be analyzed in birth horoscope. The fifth house indicates many other parameters of life apart from children. These are education, intelligence, disciples, grand children and future generation, poorva punya, speculation, wealth from property, wealth of mother, deity and many others.

      What the classics say about fifth house is given for ready reference.

      BPHS

      Uttar Kalamrita

      A simple approach to analyze fifth house for children is given.

      The parameters are,

      1.Fifth house

      2.Lord of fifth house

      3.Karaka of fifth house Jupiter

      Fifth house

      The fifth house should promise birth of children in the horoscope. It is the primary house and the house indicates the fulfillment of promise. To grant the promise any house should be strong. For a house to be strong any of the following condition should be met;

      a.Lord of house is placed in the house or aspects the house.

      b.Lord of lagan is placed in the house or aspects the house.

      c.Karaka of the house is placed in the house or aspects the house.

      d.The house is occupied or aspected by benefics.

      e.When the house is not occupied or aspected by any planet it can still promise the results.

      Note; For the purpose of this assessment, the lord of lagan and the lord of house are always benefic. The natural benefics are Jupiter, Venus, Mercury and Moon. A debilitated planet also promises the fructification of house.

      Example –1. DOB 22 December 1973, TOB 11.20, POB Delhi.

      The fifth house is occupied by two malefic Saturn and Ketu. Saturn is lord of lagan and is a benefic for this horoscope. From fifth house there are benefics in sixth and eighth house. She has two children.

      Example - 2 DOB 11 October 1942, TOB 16.02, POB Allahabad

      Fifth house is not occupied or aspected by any planet. He has two children. When a house is not occupied or aspected by any planet then the house still gives its promise.

      Example - 3 DOB 1 May 1896, TOB 03.01.30. POB Kheora. Bangla Desh

      Fifth house has exalted Jupiter. It is aspected by exalted Saturn. She had no child but has disciples in large number. Here Saturn is not benefic for fifth house.

      Example - 4 DOB 25 August 1967, TOB 17.30, POB Calcutta

      Fifth house is aspected by Saturn and Mars. Both are considered malefic. But in this horoscope Saturn is lord of lagan and will be taken as benefic. She is blessed with children.

      Example – 5 DOB 7 March 1972, TOB 8.15, POB Mumbai

      This lady has no child. She had two miscarriages in 1996 and 2003. Fifth house has Ketu which is aspected by Saturn and Mars. Both are not lord of lagan or fifth house.

      Fifth lord

      Fifth lord is the owner of fifth house. His role is like any house owner in daily life. He is required to take care of the house. If the owner is good and is in good company he will take care of the house. If he is careless and also is in bad company he will not take care of house. For a lord to be strong any of the following condition should be met;

      a.Lord of house is with lord of lagan or is aspected by it.

      b.Lord of house is in lagan.

      c.Karaka of the house is placed with the lord of house or aspects the lord.

      d.The lord is with or aspected by benefics.

      e.When the lord is not associated or aspected by any planet it can still promise the results.

      A good lord will make efforts to harness the fruits of the house. A bad lord will make no efforts to maintain the house and can destroy it. We will examine the condition of fifth lord in the example horoscopes.

      Example - 1 DOB 22 December 1973, TOB 11.20, POB Delhi.

      Fifth lord is Mercury. Mercury is placed in Kendra with Moon. Moon is a benefic. Mercury is aspected by Mars. Mars, Ketu and Saturn are in sixth and eighth house from Mercury. Saturn is lord of lagan and acts as a benefic. Mars is lord of tenth and enemy of Mercury. She likes to take good care of children but not able to because of professional responsibilities.

      Example - 2 DOB 11 October 1942, TOB 16.02, POB Allahabad

      Fifth lord Mercury is exalted. Mercury is with Venus. Two malefic Mars and Sun are also associated. He takes care of his children but malefic do not allow full attention.

      Example - 3 DOB 1 May 1896, TOB 03.01.30. POB Kheora

      Fifth lord Moon is aspected by exalted Saturn only. There is no benefic aspect. Jupiter and Mercury are in sixth and eighth house from Moon giving a benefic support.

      Example - 4 DOB 25 August 1967, TOB 17.30, POB Calcutta

      Fifth lord Venus is with Mercury. Sun also joins. Full care and attention is not given to children.

      Example – 5 DOB 7 March 1972, TOB 8.15, POB Mumbai

      Fifth lord Moon is aspected by Saturn and Mars. Great effort is required to get and take care of children.

      Karaka

      Jupiter is the karaka for children. Karaka is seen for beauty. Beauty is not the looks but the devotion and respect a child gives to the parents. It determines the care given by children to the parent.

      A karaka is considered favorable when any of the following conditions are met.

      a.Karaka is in lagan.

      b.Karaka is with lord of lagan or aspected by it.

      c.Karaka is with lord of house or aspected by it.

      d.Karaka is associated with benefics.

      Example - 1 DOB 22 December 1973, TOB 11.20, POB Delhi.

      Karaka Jupiter is debilitated in twelfth house. It is with Venus. There is no malefic aspect on Jupiter. Debilitation of Jupiter is not detrimental. The goodness is no malefic aspects. Her children give high respect and regards to their mother.

      Example - 2 DOB 11 October 1942, TOB 16.02, POB Allahabad

      Here the karaka is exalted. It is aspected by retrograde Saturn. Saturn is lord of lagan and twelfth house. As lord of lagan it a benefic aspect. Aspect of twelfth lord if not fully welcome. Still there is no malefic relation with Jupiter. The children are obedient and have high regard for father.

      Example - 3 DOB 1 May 1896, TOB 03.01.30. POB Kheora

      In this horoscope also Jupiter is exalted and aspected by retrograde Saturn. Saturn is not the lord of lagan. She had dutiful disciples.

      Example - 4 DOB 25 August 1967, TOB 17.30, POB Calcutta

      Jupiter is exalted but has no association or aspect. It is an average relation. Jupiter is not a good lord.

      Example – 5 DOB 7 March 1972, TOB 8.15, POB Mumbai

      She has no child. There are malefic Saturn and Ketu in sixth and eighth house from Jupiter .

      This promise of birth horoscope is confirmed from saptamsha who has final say in the matters regarding children.

      CODAL NAMES OF SAPTAMSHA.

      Each saptamsha is assigned a codal name. These represent the state of a planet on this life. This state has been developed by us through many past lives. This indicates the gradual emancipation of soul from mundane to spiritual. The names are;

      1.Kshar ({kkj) – A type of salt. This gives experience of harsh, sturdy and difficult path of life. He faces harsh truth of life and can have a satire in his words. Salt gives energy therefore the person is a source of motivation.

      2.Kshira ({khj) – Milk. Gets happiness by serving others in the family. Sings praise of Lord. Milk gets spoiled when mixed with sour things. The person is likely to get spoiled in bad company.

      3.Dadhi (nf/) – Coagulated milk. Steady in
