INSTRUCTIONS
1. This assignment is considered as a final assignment. Write a report
based on required instruction given in the task. Use Times New Roman,
font 12, 1.5 spacing and you may write up to a maximum of 10 pages of
A4 size paper including diagrams and list of references. Be clear and
concise.
2. The duration for this assessment is 5 DAYS.

DELIVERABLES
1. Students are required to write a report based on the instruction given. As
a general rule, the depth-and-breadth of the content of the report should
be based on the rubric as attached (Appendix 1), which demonstrates
levels of understanding of each task. Note that this rubric also includes
prompts for what components students should include in their report for
each section and how much each component is worth.

INSTRUCTION:

Write a report on the challenges in the inspection planning on the maintenance of static
mechanical equipment of ageing and gas production plants by including the following content:

1. Introduction

a. Brief description on the static mechanical equipment in the oil and gas production
plant.
b. Objective of the report.
c. Highlight the ageing and static equipment as well as the challenges in
maintenance.

2. Evolution of inspection and maintenance strategies description

a. Demonstrate the history of first, second, third and recent generation of inspection
and maintenance strategies.
b. With the aid diagram, explain the role of “Inspection and Maintenance Inspection:
Ageing and Life Extension”.
c. Discuss the maintenance planning methodologies on the maintenance of static
mechanical equipment on ageing and gas production plants.

3. Industrial challenge

a. Identify the industrial (oil and gas production plant) challenge based on the
historical data on corrosion and erosion, wall thickness reduction etc.
b. Discuss the industrial challenge in 3(a).
c. Illustrate with explanation the degradation in flowline components in the form of
wall thickness reduction.
