taking. The chief technical officer, who is called the CTO, is a member of this executive field. They have many different responsibilities,

CTO employee will be doing for their own particular company.
When CTO jobs are found within very young start up
companies, there will usually be hands on tasks that are found

be dealing with the oversight of the science and technology,
but they will also be working with the representatives of
industry organizations and governments. If the company is an
international company, the CTO will be responsible for dealing
with the various relationships with other governments and
companies within other countries.
Job Duties of the CTO
All said, there are some job duties that are known to be vastly
set aside for the CTO. Of course, there are different job duties
that might come up in a particular position, and some of the
CTO jobs will not have all of the listed duties. However, for
the most part, there are lots of responsibilities that the CTO
is going to have with a company. They will be in charge of
managing a portfolio for R&D, or production projects they
will need to put this portfolio together, update it, and make
sure that it is available. Also, CTO jobs usually report to the
CEO, and will work with the company by providing them with
a technical voice when it comes to strategic planning. If the
company that you are working for is a technical company, you
will have more say in the actual products that your company is
offering, and how these products will be offered to the public
at large. All in all, CTO jobs are jobs that deal with science
and technology in a number of different ways.
CTO Job History
The dot com era of the 1990s is when the CTO job really
first emerged. However, the job is far different today and is
still being defined. In some places, the CTO has the same
job as the CIO. However, in still other places, the CIO is

to the CIO.
Therefore, it is easy to see where the CTO position is still
growing and still being defined. If you are looking at CTO
jobs, it might be your best decision to read the actual job
description in order to figure out which exact tasks the CTO in
that particular company will be in charge of doing. Often these
tasks are going to differ depending on the various companies
and on the way that the company handles and deals with their
own science and technology.
