1. Explain and give an example why the network management is important in IT Service.
2. What are the key decisions about network management?
3. Explain why and how the use of advanced network tools reduces the need for more costly
premium vendor support.
4. Explain and give an illustrative example why Involve appropriate hardware and software
suppliers can improve the quality of configuration management.
5. What the relation between configuration management and asset management? Give a simple
example.

Answer:
1. Network management services ensure that your IT infrastructure management tools and
devices work smoothly. Monitoring helps you to recognize the existence and changes within
your organization’s IT. It also assists you to define the importance of latest technologies for your
business. For example in chatbot company, we need to provide a good infrastructure to ensure
that our bot available 24/7.

2. Network management can save cost and make the services available effectively. Here the key
decision:
 What will be managed by this process?
 Who will manage it?
 How much authority will be given?
 What types of tools and support will be provided?
 To what extent will other processes be integrated with this process?
 What levels of service and quality will be expected?

3. There are many types of networking tools out on the market today. In my company I work for,
we are using Grafana as monitoring tool. Grafana allows you to capture, view and network
traffic in timeseries. This tool is handy for troubleshooting network problems and applications on
the network. This help us to monitor the network traffic in real time.

4. Appropriate hardware suppliers – Different models of server hardware may support only
limited versions of operating system software. Similarly, different size disk arrays will support
differing quantities and types of channels, cache, disk volumes and densities. The same is true

for tape drive equipment. Network components like routers and switches, and desktop
computers, all come with a variety of features, interconnections and enhancements.
- Appropriate software suppliers – Similar to their hardware counterparts, infrastructure software
suppliers can be an excellent source of assistance in documenting which levels of software are
running on which models of hardware. In the case of servers and operating systems, the
hardware and software suppliers are almost always the same. This reduces the number of
suppliers with whom you may need to work, but not necessarily the complexity of the
configurations.

5. A configuration item is something that can be configured (changed) somehow, think of a

server on which you can enable protocols or modify a port. An asset is something that needs to
be tracked financially by an organization but cannot be configured, think of a mouse, a PC cable,
even your office building.
For example: in an office where we used to work our printers were supported by another
company so we had them listed as assets (because they cost us money). But we didn’t have them
as CIs because any changes to the equipment were not made by our IT department, and any
incidents that occurred were handled by the support company so configuration records were not
necessary (as they were not controlled by our change management team).
