“HOW I SEE MYSELF IN 5-10 YEARS FROM NOW”

By: Andres Kalikasan S. Sara

As a child, Andres grew up wanting to become so many things like

being a doctor, a singer, an actor, a fashion designer, a businessman and etc
because of the influence from his family, friends and the activities and
organizations he joined. But as he mature and enter college, he started to
realize certain things in his life that made him took the path he’s in. Now, he
is a Fourth Year Education student who majors in English. During his life as a
college student, he have met a lot of people and experienced a lot of things
that helped him in understanding what he really want to be when he grow
up. He realized he wanted to be a performer who acts, dances and sings.
Those were the three things he realized he wanted to do. Some of those
factors only came out recently while some were already being practiced by
him during his childhood. He have wanted to take up Communication Arts
major in theatre but unfortunately his older brother had to study in college
also that’s why he wasn’t able to transfer to a different school who offers
that course. He pursued his course in Education hoping that he can still find
in this course an extension of his talent. He once said to himself, “if only
there’s major here in music, I’d definitely take it. ” thinking that it’s the way
he can divert his course or major into something to what he love to do. It was
on his third year when he was informed about a subject in our fourth year
about speech and stage arts, ever since he heard about it, he have always
looked forward to that day until it came. He had a background in theatre
from his high school days but it was approximately 7 years ago which made
him feel very nervous. During the making of his play he ventured all the
things he loves to do which were singing, acting and dancing. It made him
feel a sense of fulfilment which made him say to himself that “Finally, I did
something that I’ve wanted to do.” He may not be able to take his chosen
course due to their financial stability, he was glad to say that he was able to
show his talent to everyone with the course and major he have chosen as a
2nd option. Because of this, he finally made himself love what he’s doing.
Maybe because finally he was able to let himself express what he want to
which made him appreciate the things he have now. So from those
experiences he sees himself pursuing his course which means becoming a
teacher and being the coach of a choir or theatre club in the school that he’ll
be teaching in. Surprised? Well he realized that god has a reason in making
him stick with his course and that in this field aside from being able to do his
craft which is acting, dancing and acting he is still able to impart the things
he has learned to the youth of their next generation.
“A Place for you and me”

By: Andres Kalikasan S. Sara

It’s the place I want to be, for I see you and me,

Doing things together, staring things with one another,

Oh how I wish, to always be here,

To this place where would be, with each other.

II

Anything can happen if we are here together,

It may not be often, but I always get better,

It can be at night time, or in the morning,

I just have to close my eyes, and think you while sleeping.

III

It is in my dreams, where fictions can be facts,

Where impossible can be possible and never can be forever,

But it’s just temporary, with one snap means back to reality,
Because in the real world, you and me can never be together.

It was the first day of classes in the Laguna State Polytechnic

University Los Baños Campus and students kept on coming in and out of its
gates. Inside the school, new students were asking directions about the
rooms and teachers to be looked for from old students. The University has 4
colleges namely the College of Education and Journalism, the College of Arts
and Sciences, the College of Agro-Fisheries and Sciences and the College of
Hospitality Management and Tourism. The story started in the first room
from the College of Education and Journalism. Students in that room kept on
arriving, everyone were sitting and talking. Some of the students were very
quiet and reserved brought by their shyness while some were being jolly and
loud and joking around the room. Two of the quiet students there were
Janerie Vianne Mistica and Annabelle Perlas, they just sat there watching
everybody do their businesses while silently waiting for their teacher. From
the other row of chairs, 2 more quiet students sits and watch their
classmates joke around, Charmaine Joy Alcantara sat with her then high
school classmate John Michael Platon and Joana Marie Bron was chatting and
sitting silently with her then best friend from high school, Almira Canoy .
They both watch their classmates together with their high school friends.
Two of the loud students Andres Kalikasan S. Sara and Crystal Joy Tandang
were then classmates during their 1st and 2nd years in high school. They were
one of those who kept on tossing jokes which made the classroom filled with
laughter. That room at that time made everyone who walked across it turn
their heads because of the noise brought by the overwhelming laughter of
the students. At first, groups were formed based from their personalities and
interests. Their groups at that time have names, they were the Spice girls
where Joy and Charmaine belonged to, the Leloan Force where Anabelle is
part of, the La vendetta girls were Janerie and Joan were members and the
Power puff Girls where Andres is from. In spite of the different groups,
everyone was very united with one another that they were used to covering
one another’s faults and agreeing in one opinion. During that time, most of
the groups attend their classes regularly except for the Spice girls that
whenever one wasn’t there the others will be gone too, going to places
outside school. The Leloan Force was known to be the quiet ones who were
focused on their studies. The La Vendetta girls were famous in putting eye
liners around their eyes and eye shadows above their eyes. Lastly, the Power
puff Girls were known for being the nosiest among all the students in the
room and for making the best jokes that can make the entire class laugh out
loud. They were all so bonded with one another until one day when their
teacher in computer went inside, he called Joan to lead the report. While
reporting she called Kuya Bob to answer a question. Kuya Bob answered the
question and shared something about his answer. Upon stating his answer,
Jomar reacted negatively about it and when Kuya Bob heard it an exchange
of words between those two was next. Their teacher tried to pacify them and
they continue and finished their class. Later on, Kuya Bob went to the SSC
Office to submit his complain and they were advised to talk. After talking
with the SSC President at that time both two parties departed the office with
smiles. Also during this time, Andres who was before has no hobby in
dancing joined the CEJ Pep squad in exchange for a bag of Cream-O from the
FEG President Jacqueline Ferrer. Yes, he joined the squad in exchange for a
bag of sweet snacks because at that time the group is in need of male
members. Their group struggled during their practice maybe because most
of their members weren’t really good dancers. But they were able to pull it
all off when they bagged the 1st place. As a result of their winning, they were
asked to represent their campus to the upcoming Intercampus. Since they
will no longer represent their College which was then under the Deanship of
Prof Juanita Juanillas, some of the members were replaced with members
from different colleges. Everything seems to be fine during their practice
until the day of the competition came. While performing, someone hit the
stop button on the CD player making their music stop at that time. They
stood there for approximately 15 minutes literally doing nothing but just
stand. When it was discovered by their choreographer, he directly went to
the audio men to fix the problem and then their performance continued.
They were very ashamed of what had happened there and during the
announcement of winners, they already expected to be the first one to be
called or the 3rd runner up. Before leaving, the other cheerers went to the
audio men to get the CD’s unfortunately he told them a teacher from the
other campus took it. They may have good moments with one another but
storms also stroke them as they continue their college journey. The 1st
semester had passed and the next semester was about to approach and
more unexpected things were about to happen in the lives of the few English
Majors. Most of their classmates stopped going to school and transferred
from different schools due to certain reasons. Some new students also
arrived which made our family bigger and the dramas and experience more
intense.
