How do the characters in the legend correspond to the behavior of the volcano in
real life?
~I can relate myself to a volcano because it is high as my dream of achieving,
but despite all that I am confident that I will reach it in the future.

What does knowing the legend do to your appreciation of the volcano?


~As for me, its beauty makes me see that god is amazing for making such
wonderful volcano. I might realize to appreciate thing that gods made and all of
these beautiful things we take them for granted.

How would the legend of Daragang Magayon be told today?


~What changes would there be in how story is told? Just like in the story the
girl doesn’t have a complete family, but she never feels alone that because of her
dad who loves her so much.

THE REVOLUTION:
What do you know about the publication of Noli Me Tangere and how it affected
the Philippines?
~Noli me Tangere is the first novel written by national hero Dr.Jose P.Rizal in
1887 and published in Germany.the story goes detailed with the society of the
Philippines during Spanish colonial period. In this novel it affects in the way of
how Filipinos communicate in their everyday lives.

Do you think that in the Philippines are as important to as they used to be when
the Noli was published in 1887? Are people still inspired by novels?
~Of course, novels are very important in the Philippines because it’s the
novel of our country that we can proud to say. It teaches us to give importance in our
blessings that we have today. For me novels are not just like a novel they are mirror
of the past and gives inspiration in present even in future.

What is it about reading long texts, such as short stories or novels that makes it
different from reading tweets and Facebook status post?
~what is the importance of literature for the Facebook generation? Reading
stories is a knowledge to us it is enhancing tool that may help us to broaden our
vocabulary though reading is quite boring, but it is worth. Literature is meaningful
to us to learn new knowledge to make our lives easier. Always remember that in
the highest civilization the books or literature rather is the highest delight.

Why did the Noli me Tangere have a such a big impression on the narrator?
Could you relate to the narrator’s experience of reading? Why or why not?
~Because Jose Rizal portrayed himself as the protagonist and faced
sufferings from the hands of the Spaniards. I can relate much for I am immersed
in his work too, if you want to know.

Have you ever felt the same bout a book that you had read? What book was it?
Why did it leave such a huge impression on you?
~Yes. The Hunger Games. It leave such a good impression on me
because from the very beginning up to the end of the story it amplifies and
expands my imagination and also it encapsulates the true meaning of revolution
and it is an epitome to everyone to stand up and fight for their freedom.

What does the line, “art is reproach to those who receive it mean” Should we
relate art to society explain your views.
~ Art is a powerful tool in expressing our inner desires. through art, the
ideas are expressed in such a way that it invokes a certain bliss in us.

When you read about how so many people were affected by the novel Noli me
Tangere, what was your reaction? Do you think a book can ever elicit such a
strong response In the Philippines?
~Yes, because Noli me Tangere is a filipino novel by Jose Rizal which is
about to the experience of the filipino back then by the hands of the japanese. It’s
a true to life story.

When the narrator says that the act of reading was a historic act, what did he
mean? Do you think this is true even today?
~Because what ever happen to the physical material that you were
reading, whether it gets burned.

During those times, do you think you would have been moved to fight against the
government after reading the novel?
~Ahm for me its yes because Noli me Tangere is written by Jose P. Rizal
and writing this is one of his way to fight for our country.

They say that act of reading gives people more empathy and makes the more
critical and reflective. Do you think this is true?
~Yes because when we are reading we tend to gain new knowledge, we
discover and realize some things that make us more reflective.

Given this excerpt, ewhat do you think is the importance of literature to society?
Is this still applicable today?
~Literature is important in everyday life because it connect individuals
with larger truths and ideas in a society.

Why is the Noli me Tangere, a book that was banned in the past, now a required
reading in the Philippines schools? why did the catholic church go against
making the Noli a requirement?
~Because of its supervise content that goes against the teachings of the
catholic church.

DEATH OF A HERO:

Who is Pepe? Why does Pepe ask the persona about purgatory?
~Pepe want to know how the souls are purified before entering heaven.
he was curious because he knows that sooner or later, he will die.

The poem talks about the nature of stars. Can you explain what he means, in
terms of science?
~A star is a big, hot ball of fire. Stars are born to do its duty and function
in the universe. It is to give heat and light to the planets and other heavenly
bodies.

This discussion of the stars is also a metaphor. What is it a metaphor for?

~Metaphor is the direct comparison of two unlike objects. The word “like”
or “as” is not used

Why was Rizal executed? How is this similar to the idea of a star?
~Relate this to Philippine history. Executed because of his rebellion, it
was like a star because in earth, we can still see a star light even though its dead
just like Jose Rizal memories.

What would you say was Rizal’s greatest contribution to Philippine society?
~I would say was he had the greatest contribution because of his talent
of writing he used that in a very good way to have freedom in the Philippines.

~calamities can give adversely impact on the natural and built
environment as it contributes to the difficulties in our way of living but moving
forward and reaching out to other people even if you are in a difficult situation.

~Explain. It depends on the person. If it’s about a grave topic,
maybe you should put a serious tone. If it is about something funny, there is no
need for a serious tone.
