Système U Chooses Huawei Servers to Build a Reliable Retail
Store System Challenges
 Système U is the fourth largest chain supermarket in France and has a total of 1,600 stores and 40,000
employees, with an annual sales amount of EUR 31.2 billion.
 Its original servers once encountered an accidental power failure, and the entire system crashed, affecting
the normal operations of its stores. Having learned its lessons from this accident, Système U now wants to
purchase new servers with high reliability. As Système U stores do not have dedicated IT equipment
rooms or IT staff, the new servers are required to be low-noise and easy to manage.
 In the next three years, Système U stores may introduce new types of services (such as office automation,
finance, video surveillance, VDI, and file sharing). Therefore, the new servers are also required to be highly
scalable.
Solution
 Système U HQ purchases several thousand Huawei RH1288 V3 servers and deploys one or two such
servers in each store to support store business, including daily accounting, video surveillance, and bar
code management.
 Système U HQ manages all these servers centrally via eSight and performs unified monitoring, alarm
handling, and O&M. RH1288 V3 servers can operate reliably with low noise under normal room
temperature, thanks to the unique heat dissipation design and intelligent fan speed adjustment policies.
