Standard One: Know students and how they learn

1.1 Developing an understanding of physical, social and intellectual development and


characteristics of students and how these may affect learning.

1.2 Develop understanding of how students learn and the implications for teaching.

1.3 Developing understanding of teaching strategies that are responsive to the learning
strengths and needs of students.

1.4 Developing an understanding of the impact of culture, cultural identity and


linguistic background on the education of students from Aboriginal and Torres Strait
Islander backgrounds.

1.5 Developing knowledge and understanding of strategies for differentiating teaching.

1.6 Developing an understanding of legislative requirements and teaching strategies

Standard One Comment
Lauren has built a good rapport with all the students in year 3. She has continually
differentiated her lesson plans to meet all the students needs and abilities. Lauren
has incorporated whole group, small group and collaborative groups into her
lessons. She is always willing to provide critical and positive feedback to each
student. Lauren has demonstrated an understanding of the Aboriginal and Torres
Strait Islander cultures and has incorporated some creative lessons based around

structure of the content and teaching strategies of the teaching area.

Standard Two Comment
Lauren continually uses curriculum, assessment and reporting knowledge to design
learning sequences and lesson plans, when she is uncertain on how to evaluate or
assess these lessons she is willing to ask for assistance and guidance. She uses
innovative technology is all lessons making it thoroughly engaging and motivating
for the students. Lauren has demonstrated a highly competent knowledge and is
confident when teaching in the areas of Literacy and Numeracy. Continue to have
high expectations of the students and give them critical feedback in what they need
to improve. Absolutely loved your power point presentations and all the technology
that you use on a everyday basis.

Standard Three Comment
Lauren's confidence with her classroom behaviour management has improved
greatly over the last 10 weeks, you have control of the class and it makes so much
difference to your teaching plans and strategies. She has continually engaged
students with her creative lessons and using ICT has been a great motivator for this
challenging class. Lauren engages with the parents and guardians on a regular basis
often in the morning at the start of the school day and via technology eg: Seesaw.

Standard Four: Create and maintain supportive and safe learning


environments

4.1 Identify strategies to support inclusive student participation and engagement in


classroom activities.

4.2 Demonstrates a developing capacity to organise classroom activities and provide


clear directions.

4.3 Demonstrate knowledge of practical approaches to manage behaviour.

4.4 Describe strategies that support students’ well-being and safety working within
school.

4.5 Demonstrate an understanding of the relevant issues and the strategies available
to support the safe, responsible and ethical in learning and teaching.

Lauren identifies strategies to support inclusive student participation and
engagement in classroom activities. She demonstrates a developing capacity to
organise classroom activities and provide clear directions. All instructions are clear
and stepped out so the students are able to follow the instructions to complete the
activities and tasks. Lauren has demonstrated knowledge of practical approaches to
manage behaviour. She has implemented various strategies and behaviour
management techniques and incentives. Lauren demonstrates an understanding of

Lauren demonstrates an understanding of a variety of assessment strategies,
including informal and formal, diagnostic, formative and summative approaches to
assess student learning. She is aware of the schools assessment procedures. Lauren
provides clear critical feedback to each student, both verbally and written. Continue
to work on the sandwich approach positive, negative (critical) and positive.

Standard Six: Engage in professional learning

6.1 Demonstrate an understanding of the role of the National Professional Standards


for Teachers.

6.2 Understand the relevant and appropriate sources of professional learning for
teachers.

6.3 Seek and apply constructive feedback from supervisors and teachers to improve
teaching practices.

Lauren has attended all professional development days and opportunities whilst on
this prac, all while maintaining a supportive positive attitude towards the school
policies and requirements.

Standard Seven: Engage professionally with colleagues, parents/carers and the


community

7.1 Understand and apply the key principles described in codes of ethics and
conduct for the teaching profession.

7.2 Understand the relevant legislative, administrative and organisational policies


and processes required for teachers according to school stage.

7.3 Understand strategies for working effectively, sensitively and confidentially with
parents/carers.

7.4 Understand the role of external professionals and community representatives in


broadening teachers’ professional knowledge and practice.

Standard Seven Comment
Lauren demonstrates an understanding and applies the key principles described in
codes of ethics and conduct for the teaching profession. She always professionally
communicates with parents and other staff members in the school on a daily basis, if
she is unsure she will speak to myself to find out how she should respond. Lauren
maintains a high level of confidentiality.

General Comment
Lauren you have continued to grow in leaps and bounds, its been wonderful seeing
your confidence in the classroom grow each day. You are a natural teacher who has
demonstrated a awesome growth over the last ten weeks. The skills that you have
developed with this challenging class will assist in any situation in any school. You
have built up a wonderful relationship with all the students and they just adore you,
often making up reasons to have a chat. All your lessons have been engaging and
incorporating technology! Love the many lessons that you have used and designed
the PowerPoint and activity booklets. Lauren you are really working hard to
maintain the children's attention by engaging them with their many interests.

Remember to always go with the flow as things within the classroom can change at
the drop of a hat. A flexible teacher is a successful teacher.
