INTRODUCTION

1. AN EXPLANATION OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

Domestic violence is a violence in a domestic manner, mostly it occurs in settings
such as in marriage. Domestic violence tends to be practiced regularly by a spouse
in an intimate relationship against their partners or former spouse.1 The statistics
show that it somehow involves abuse against children or parents, and it takes
forms in my ways such as sexual, physical, emotional and religious.
This violence may be caused by the need of abusers to control their partners or
any other family member. This may be because of strong emotions such as
extreme jealousy, and low self-esteem.

2. IDENTIFICATION OF DIFFERENT TYPES OF

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
When the general people think about domestic violence, they mostly think about
physical violence whereby the victims are easy to be identify since they might
have bruise all over their body. This is only one type of violence and it is the most
common one in the modern society, there are several categories of domestic
violence and it include emotional, sexual, verbal etc.

2.1 THERE ARE DIFFERENT TYPES OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE.

2.1.1 PHYSICAL VIOLENCE
In most case it occurs when one use strength and force toward other individuals
in which in most cases results in physical harm (Bruise on child’s body).
Examples include hitting, choking or otherwise causing intentional physical
injuries to the victim.

It is referred as emotional abuse and its traits includes the behaviors of
intimidation and that of control which results in intended cause of emotional
trauma.
Examples of psychological violence include stalking, verbal threats and any other
behaviors intended to cause emotional pain.

3. AN EXPLANATION OF THE DUTY TO REPORT

CHILD ABUSE
We as people share a common responsibility to protect children from any form of
abuse. Ontario’s Child,2 Youth and family Services Act,2017 (CYFSA) provides for
protection for these children.
Section 125 of this CYFSA stipulates that the public, including professionals who
works with children, must report any suspicious that a child is or may need
protection to a children’s aid society.[ CITATION Bel04 \l 1033 ] The report includes
physical, sexual and emotional abuse, neglect and risk of harm.
Any person who may suspect that a child is or may need protection must
promptly report the suspicion and the information that is based to the matter.

CONCLUSION
Yes, it is the doctor’s duty to report the abuse, the claims of the parents are
totally different from what the doctor observed.
It is highly impossible for a 1-year-old girl to “keep” falling on stairs when she
cannot even walk on her own unless the parent did it intentionally, it is also
Impossible for a 1-year-old girl to obtain bruises all over her body by just falling
on stairs unless if the parents has physically violated the child.
The parents lack the ability to keep their child under the requirement that are
mend and stipulated by the society that protects children from the abuse. The
bruise all over the 1-year-old girl is a sign that the parents has failed to provide an
adequate care and protection for the child as stated in section 125 (1) of CYFSA,
2017.

I believe the doctor must report the suspicion so that the legal action can be
implemented on the parents
