The following studies in question 1 and 2 are based on STATICS

Question 1

Hypothesis:
The T-support has an articulation point at A, and fixed at the point B. at the
point T, is attached a cable exercising a pulling horizontal force F, of magnitude
1000N.

Work required
a) isolate the body indicating the various forces acting on it.
b) Develop a table for bill of forces
c) Apply the FPS to develop the equation of forces
d) Calculate the magnitude of the mechanical forces at A and B
e) solve graphically to prove your answer. Taking scale: 1cm = 250N
Question 2: MASSICOT OR PAPER CUTTER

Presentation

The mechanism shown above is a paper cutter used to cut bundles of paper 7. For
this, a force Q must be applied at A. The spring allows a rapid return of the blade 5
Work required

The resistance of the paper bundle on the blade is || ⃗I || = 3200N. We propose

to determine the minimum force Q that must be exerted on lever 1 at
A, to cut the bundle of paper.
We will take, Scale of forces: 1cm = 800N.
1) propose an order of isolation for the mechanical part.
2) Isolate the lever 4, and apply FPS to determine the nature of its forces.
3) i) isolated the knife 5, state the theorem of a solid in equilibrium under the
action of three forces.
ii) determine graphically ⃗
K 4/5 and ⃗
F 3/5

4) i) Isolate the lever 3, develop the bill of external forces that apply to it.
ii) Use Culman’s method to determine ⃗
H 6/3; ⃗
E 8/3 and ⃗
D 2/3. Take ||⃗
F 5/3|| =

2800N.
5) From the equilibrium od piece2, ⃗
D 2/3 = ⃗
B1/2. Justify this expression.

6) i) isolate the lever 1, develop its bill of external forces.

ii) calculate analytically the intensity of the forces ⃗
Q and ⃗
C 6/1

7) Calculate the friction force of the paper on the knife.
