Yarn and Hook Recommendations

To make this pattern I strongly recommend that you use both the brand & yarn weight that you
chose to make your doll with. And also that you use the hook size that you used to make your doll.
Important Note for Getting the Right Fit for Your Doll!
If you tend to stuff your dolls very firmly, so that that the dolls body has very little give, it is highly
recommended that you go up at least half a hook size to make the clothing within this pattern. These
patterns have been designed to fit on my dolls, who although stuffed firmly can still be manipulated
quite easily into the clothes but I have had a few people who describe their dolls to be stuffed so firmly
that they’re like ‘bricks’ and have very little give and they have needed to go up in hook size to clothe
their dolls.

Assembly
Take the two fins and lay on top of one another. Then
taking a length of yarn in the same colour, use your
tapestry needle to sew the ends together as per this photo
sewing a whip stitch up and down, through and around the
four loops either side. Fasten off and hide loose ends.
Then take another good length of yarn and weave in and
out across the top of the fins.

Tie a good sized knot on one side and then push the fins
towards the knot to gather the top of them together so they
are just the right width to fit the bottom of the tail.

Then use the length of yarn you have used to gather the
fins to sew them to the bottom of the tail.
Once you have reached the other end and are happy that
you have securely attached the tail, you will then sew in
and out again through where the tail and fins meet, pull
tight and gather.
Fasten off and hide any loose ends.

I hope you have enjoyed completing this pattern!
