Paradise was written by Jhon Milton. In this poem, the poet represents Satan as a hero.

He is the major
character in this poem.

Satan was banished from paradise by God. He was highly self respected that he didn't want to back on
paradise to be subservient of God. He wanted to rule the hell.He had no fear to go on hell.He says "I
myself is an hell which way I fly is hell''. He thinks if he goes to paradise there no one will love or believe
him that they may think he might again betray with God.

Satan was expelled from paradise as he didn't want to bow down in front of human and disobeyed God's
order. He thinks himself much superior than human being.

So he wanted to take revenge on human and throw the humans out of paradise.

So he somehow goes to paradise and see there are two person in the paradise. They look so beautiful in
physically and also so happy. The paradise is flawless. The two people are living in there so peacefully.
Satan feels so jealousy. He comes to know that God had forbidden them not to eat the fruit of
knowledge. So he decided that he will tempt them to eat the fruit.

Satan has a very subtle character.

He is quite distinctive from the traditional heroes. He is also so prudent.

So then he tries to make curiosity by telling Eve when she was sleeping that why she shouldn't have this
what will happen if she eats this fruit.

He has many heroic qualities frist of all he wanted to take revenge because he was insulted. He was
insulted because he was told that humans are better than him but he says he will not admit this if they
do not prove it.So he denied to obey God's order because of prestige issue. For this he was thrown out of
paradise. The prestige only remains in heroes character not in cheap people's.Then He has no fear. He is
much strong imposing figure also prudent.Satan’s fearless lofty quality, to a large extent, eulogized his
cotemporaries’ heroic dauntless spirit.

He his firm at his decision. He accomplishes his goal of corrupting humankind. His confidence in thinking
that he could ever overthrow God displays tremendous vanity and pride.
Though this is difficult to prove Satan as a hero .He is the protagonist at the Paradise Lost. Making Satan
as a hero Jhon Milton teaches mankind much significant lessons. If Satan can make a win against God's
will why we will not be able to gain victory against tyrant king.

By the way Satan's character has been treated with great sympathy and great

dramatic power. He does not know to stoop. He has strong determination. He

has been defeated by God but he does not admit his fall. He says 'It is better to

rule in hell than to serve in heaven. All these things make Satan as a heroic

figure.

So from the above discussion we can say Satan as a hero.
