The Legalization of

Marijuana
Often a hot-topic worldwide, whether in a classroom or courtroom cannabis, better

known as pot, weed, reefer, or marijuana, is and has been debated for many years. I think

the main issues that will bring more light to the subject of cannabis are its history, health

issues, and many uses. Killer or a cure, devil or a saint? These 3 factors will reveal the

truth, for you to analyze. This is why marijuana should be legalized.

Used in ancient rituals by our Greek ancestors. Shamans entering a trance like

state from the effects of marijuana to disperse special and important information to the

people. The supposed origin of the word “Cannabis” comes from the word Qunubu

(Meaning “way to produce smoke”) used by Aryans for religious purposes. The Aryans

also introduced cannabis to many other factions and peoples including the Assyrians and

the Dionysus cult. Even the great land of Tibet, China is thought to smoke the drug for

religious purposes because of the fact that in 2003 a leather basket filled with marijuana

leaves and seeds were found next to a mummified 2500-2800-year-old shaman in

Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China.

Coughing, sore-throat, and bodily pain, all side-effects of inhaling the deadly drug known

as marijuana… or is it? The that smoking cannabis as it is can be deadly to your health

considering the facts that it has 20 times the carcinogens, 4 times the hydrogen cyanide
and nitrogen than a single cigarette, but who says it must be smoked? According to

MAPS/CaNORML if the drug known as marijuana is vaporized not burned it has little to

no harmful physical effects. The marijuana is placed in a chamber where it is cooked at

roughly 226*C (439*F) at this point water vapor is released from a water-pad and goes

up through the herb and into a bag. Through this process only the tetrahydracannibol, or

THC, is released from the herb for the purest and safest way to receive the psychedelic

effects from marijuana. It is also a known fact that while under the effects of Marijuana

the intensity of pain is dulled and can relax your body, thus explaining why marijuana us

used today and is prescribed by doctors for many serious problems on of which being

MS(Multiple Sclerosis).

Marijuana is used for more than just heightening the entertainment of normal everyday

activities and having a good time, if inspected in full spectrum, cannabis has always had

more bountiful uses. It relieves mental stress and tension, research shows that is can

prevent obsessive compulsive disorder and anorexia, just to name a couple. The Hindi

people have used marijuana for spiritual and religious reasons for many centuries along

with the Rastafarian religion which claims cannabis is a “Tree of Life”. In the early

1940’s concentrated THC was used as a truth serum by the Office of Strategic Services. It

was most significant as a truth serum In May 1943, where the OSSS counter-intelligence

had a meeting with Augusto Del Gracio, a headman for Lucky Luciano. Augusto was

given a cigarette containing THC concentrate where he began to talk openly, spilling the

information on Luciano’s heroin operation. Marijuana has had its uses for many years
and due to its popularity and positive results, it would seem there are many more years to

come.

Cannabis is still used today all around the globe, whether for medical purposes or just

leisure. There are no signs of its use being completely set to a halt any time soon and the

3 positive factors of its history, health issues, and many uses would make it seem it is

here to stay. Friends and normal marijuana users gather to celebrate its global day on

April 20th and even more gather on the day of “The Global Marijuana March” where the

country gives approval for avid and recreational marijuana smokers gather from all

around the country to smoke together as a nation. It may be unorthodox but there has

never been a riot or negative act in Canada (where the most legitimate and well known

global march takes place, though the same cannot be said for countries with harsher

governance) at one of these massive assemblies. So it is apparent that before one is to

look down upon a subject, one must know the facts first.
