A. On Viewpoint

Viewpoint refers to what is in the mind of the person/s in a story through

which the reader is told. It is a state of mind or circumstances of an individual
who may be a character, a reader or the one being talked about in a story.
An important factor in understanding a viewpoint in writing is the
"person,” which refers to how the viewpoint of the character tells the story. The
choice affects not only the reader's experience, but also how the writer perceives
the story.
"Person" in this context does not refer to the actual viewpoint of the
character, but on how the character tells the story.

3
There are three options—first person ("I"), second person ("you") and third
person ("he/she").
First person - (the "I") is a single viewpoint option. The first person is most
often found in fiction writing, but some nonfiction pieces use it as well, like:
personal essays, reminiscences, and "confession" stories are a few examples.
The second person viewpoint essentially makes the reader or the viewer a
character in the narrative to draw them into the story. The narrative is written
from their point of view and addresses them at the same time.
The third-person viewpoint is a form of storytelling in which a narrator
relates all the action of their work using third-person pronouns such as "he,"
"she," and "they." It is the most common perspective in works.
It is important that when you read stories, articles or journals. You must
be aware of how it is written or how the author wrote a certain work.
B. On Stereotypes
It is important how someone sees a situation, expresses his/her feelings
and opinions to a situation, and makes connections. Also, this can be linked to
images and articles where he/she can see different idea and share opinions from
a different perspective.
One factor about writing is stereotyping. Stereotypes are ideas about how
people will act or respond based on the group in which they belong.
Opinions are important so we can tell how other people feel, think,
perceive about things and share how we feel as they express them.
Being able to understand viewpoint will help you easily determine how the
writer perceives a story and for you to look at every image and article in different
perspectives.

Killing of George Floyd
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

On May 25, 2020, George Floyd, a 46-year-old African-American man,

was killed in Minneapolis, Minnesota, while being arrested for allegedly using a
counterfeit bill. Derek Chauvin, a white police officer, knelt on Floyd's neck
for several minutes while Floyd was handcuffed, lying face down repeatedly
saying "I can't breathe" and "please", and calling for his mother. Officers J.
Alexander Kueng and Thomas Lane further restrained Floyd, while Officer Tou
Thao prevented bystanders from intervening. During the final two minutes,
Floyd was motionless and had no pulsewhile Chauvin ignored onlookers' pleas
to remove his knee, which he did not do until medics told him to.

7
The following day, after videos were made by witnesses and security
cameras became public, all four officers were fired. Two autopsies found Floyd's
death to be a homicide. Chauvin was initially charged with third-degree
murder and second-degree manslaughter, to which was later added second-
degree murder. The three other officers were charged with aiding and
abetting second-degree murder.
Floyd's death triggered worldwide protests against police brutality, police
racism, and lack of police accountability. In early June, the Minneapolis City
Council voted intent to restructure the police department as a "new community-
based system of public safety.” The Minneapolis Police Chief cancelled contract
negotiations with the police union and announced plans to bring in outside
experts to examine how the union contract can be restructured to provide
transparency and "flexibility for true reform".
