Subject: Student 25 Science

Good morning ParentA and ParentB,

I am making contact with you to introduce myself and catch up with you in regards to Student 25's behaviour lately
in science. My name is Sara and I am Student 25's science teacher this year. The year started off really well with
Student 25 working hard in science and even though he has stated his keen interest in space he has participated in
the biology content. As the weeks have progressed he has been turning up late sometimes up to 20 minutes late to
class with other teachers notifying me later on that he has been sitting down at tables with his mates having a chat
and needing to be directed to class. Yesterday’s lesson consisted of Student 25 arriving late to class, wearing
sunglasses and entering the classroom without being prepared and disrupting others. I have asked Student 25 to
wait outside a moment. When speaking with Student 25 I have reminded him about late to class expectations on
entering the classroom. Student 25 has re‐entered  with sunglasses still on calling out and talking to other students.
I have tried redirect his behaviour to completing science work, and when behaviour continued asked Student 25 to
remain for a post lesson discussion. Student 25 has ignored this instruction and left when bell rang.

I  am  hoping  at  the  moment  that  just  catching  up  with  you  and  you  having  a  word  with  Student 25  about  his
behaviour will see a more positive turn around in class. He is a joy to have in class and can add valuable insight into
the learning. If you have any ideas on any strategies that may be useful to ensure Student 25 remains on task and is
succeeding in science I would be more than happy to take it on board. If you have any queries or want to discuss
behaviour further please phone myself on 49559222.

Regards,

Sara Utley
