COVID-19 POSTER CRITIQUE

Try to identify the images you can see in the

poster? What do they symbolize?

The woman in the image is facing the

mirror but her appearance is a little different
from the other. The image depicts ourselves
during this pandemic wherein it symbolizes
our normal self vs. our self during the new
normal. It shows that even if we want to do a
lot of things just like before, we know that we
can’t, because we have to follow the protocol
by the higher authorities to stay safe. So, the
reflection basically represents the inner
thoughts of us.

Consider the positions of the images, what do

they imply?

An image indirect gaze offers the

viewer to interact with the image, but does not
give a blatant meaning or gesture to enter the
frame.  No immediate reaction is demanded
from the image, but the meaning can be
persuasive, although are often free of emotion
or neutral in sentiment, but it’s still informative
or educational.

Linguistics text, what words are included? What Colors, what colors are used? What do they
do they mean? Are they necessary? symbolize?
The image shows the majority of color
There is text such as “stay home”, “protect
yellow, blue, violet, black and white. Along the
yourself”, notes with to do list, and flyers. I believe
colorful side, yellow symbolizes cheerfulness,
all of this are necessary element in the poster since
friendliness, joy, and energy of the environment
the topic is about COVID-19. Aside from the woman
before the pandemic. The blue hair symbolizes the
representing us during the pandemic, the poster also
peace and calmness we’re feeling before the
persuades the people to follow the protocols in order
lockdown. Violet signify refined things of life,
to lessen or better stop the spreading of the virus.  It’s
creative, witty and civilized. The black-and-white
expressing that we can be socially connected while
image convey a certain emotion and our sentiment
keeping physical distance.
and it shows of how we feel in reality situation we
are in today.

I think the woman is intended to be in big scale in order to emphasize the
Diitka Laya Kashyap
representation of people today and to show the emotions, sadness, and
frustrations we are feeling because of the situation we have during this pandemic.
