Preface

What's New
The necessary topics to describe the third part of integrating MARIAN with
SmartPlant have been added to this document. These topics describe retrieving
SmartPlant 3D model data for the Bill-of-Material (BOM) from SmartPlant
Foundation. This new functionality is available with MARIAN 2007 (6.2.1).

MARIAN SmartPlant-MARIAN Integration User’s Guide 5

Introduction

Introduction
The current version of integrating MARIAN with SmartPlant Foundation supports the
retrieval of document header information and publishing of requisitions and purchase
orders. This functionality allows you to attach the retrieved documents to requisitions,
purchase orders, and inquiries. The view file, for example, a P&ID, can be opened in
MARIAN using the SmartPlant Foundation Web Client and SmartPlant Markup.

New in MARIAN 2007 (6.2.1) is the ability to retrieve SmartPlant 3D model data
(piping material and equipment ) from SmartPlant Foundation for the Bill-of-Material
(BOM).

The necessary MARIAN user interaction for integration purposes has been restricted
to a minimum.

All other installation and configuration steps for the MARIAN Tool for Integration
(MTI) should be done by an administrator on the server. Once the software is
completely configured, retrieve and publish are done automatically as background
tasks. For more information on installation and configuration of MTI, refer to the
MARIAN Tool for Integration (MTI) Installation Guide.

Introduction

Retrieving BOM Data

This section describes how to browse and import BOM data from documents that
have been retrieved from SmartPlant Foundation.

The MARIAN BOM import from SmartPlant looks at the SmartPlant 3D model data
published as XML files with the document type of ‘SmartPlant Review Document’.
The kind of material is equipment and piping material.

The contained SmartPlant 3D system hierarchy together with the Plant-Breakdown-

Structure will be used to create the BOM Node hierarchy.

Settings
To allow you to use the functionality described in the following section, some Project
Defaults in MARIAN must be set properly.

To learn more about how to set the necessary settings for BOM import, refer to the
MARIAN Tool for Integration (MTI) Installation Guide.

Introduction

Browse BOM Documents

The MARIAN B.40.51 SmartPlant Enterprise BOM Docs screen allows you to
browse documents containing BOM data available for BOM import.

Retrieved documents are automatically inserted by MTI and can neither be changed
nor deleted by MARIAN users. The only necessary user interaction is to select the
documents that are candidates for BOM import. This is done by selecting the
Request Details check box for documents in the list that have no details retrieved yet.

Import BOM Data

1. Open the B.40.01 BOM Import screen.
2. Create a new import job by applying a freely definable job code first.
3. Select Retrieve BOM from SP3D from the Data Source dropdown list. Note
that the Map CCs/Idents option is checked automatically and the Company
Code field is filled from the ZI_SP3D_CO project default. These settings are
necessary for this type of BOM import.

Publishing Documents
This section describes publish settings, requisitions, and purchase orders.

Related Topics

• Requisitions, page 20
• Settings, page 19

Settings
To keep user interaction for publishing to a minimum, an administrator must perform
the following configuration: specify language settings, DBA-Settings, and Project
Defaults in MARIAN. Typical MARIAN users are not required to configure or
interact with these settings when working with requisitions or purchase orders.

To learn more about how to set the necessary settings for publish, refer to the
MARIAN Tool for Integration (MTI) Installation Guide.

If a MARIAN project is enabled to publish purchase orders or requisitions, the

SmartPlant Enabled check box is checked for the project on the A.20.01.02 Project
Information screen.

Introduction

Requisitions
Integration with SmartPlant Foundation affects the Release to Procurement action of
screens R.30.01 and R.30.02. The release to procurement causes the requisition to be
published under the following conditions:

• First, the project must be enabled for integration by selecting the

SmartPlant Enabled check box on the A.20.01.02 Project Information
screen.
• Second, the requisition supplement must be the first supplement, or the
publishing must have started with the first supplement.
The release to procurement action fails if the view file cannot be created and the
project default ZI_SP_RFIL is set to Y, which means a view file is required for
publish. Setting ZI_SP_RFIL to N starts the view file creation, but does not terminate
the release to procurement because of errors during view file creation.

Purchase Orders
Integration with SmartPlant Foundation affects the Approve action of the P.50.07
screen. The approval causes the purchase order to be published under the following
conditions:

• First, the project must be enabled for integration by selecting the

SmartPlant Enabled check box on the A.20.01.02 Project Information
screen.
• Second, the purchase order supplement must be the first supplement, or
the publishing must have started with the first supplement.
The approve action fails if the view file cannot be created and the project default
ZI_SP_PFIL is set to Y, which means a view file is required for publish. Setting
ZI_SP_PFIL to N starts the view files creation, but does not terminate the approval
because of errors during view file creation.
