SKILL BASED: PUBLIC SPEAKING

SOP MIDTERM TEST: Speech Delivery (20%)

1. Students videotape their speech delivery with the same speech texts as in In-Class Assessment 1.
2. Students must submit the speech text before the scheduled time of the test.
- The essay is typed in Times New Roman, 12 font size, and 1,5 spacing.
- The file is renamed into Name_NIM_CLASS. (e.g Hesti Widyasari_20140580064_HI IC 1). The
students must NOT write their personal information inside the speech text.
- Teacher should grade the soft file (to see the similarity index to prevent plagiarism and to grade the
essay).
- All submitted speech texts’ originality will be checked using Turnitin. The minimum tolerable
similarity level is 30%; speech texts exceeding 30% will receive zero score (0) and the student
WON’T BE ALLOWED TO HAVE THE TEST.
3. The video duration of the speech delivery is 4 – 6 minutes.
4. Students are NOT allowed to read the text. They are permitted to bring in brief notes on palm cards with
40 words at most on the cards.
5. Students upload the video on Youtube and submit the link of the video.

9 The speaker’s volume of speech was appropriate.
10 The speaker pronunciation was clear and understandable.
11 The speaker’s grammar was correct and didn’t prevent
understanding.
12 The speaker naturally addressed the points and didn’t appear to
memorize the text/paper.
13 The speaker used notes effectively.
14 The speaker’s gesture appeared natural.
15 The student’s presentation is between 6 – 8 minutes.
TOTAL SCORE

Total Score: 4x15 = 60/3 = 20

Marking system score:

1 Poor, many requirements not met

2 Fair, some requirements met

3 Good, meets most or all expectations

4 Outstanding, exceeds expectations
