EXPLORING A PRACTICE FOR
LENT – PRAYING THE ROSARY
The prayer we know as the Rosary offers
us a special way of meditating on the
Mysteries of Christ. It is a scripture based
prayer, with the Our Father, Hail Mary
(x10) and Glory Be forming the basis of
each decade. Each decade draws us in,
to meditate on one of 20 mysteries from
the life of Christ. In the 16th Century Pope
Pius established the standard 15
mysteries of the Rosary which he grouped
into three, The Joyful, The Sorrowful and
the Glorious Mysteries. In 2002, Pope St.
John Paul II added a new set of 5, known
as the Mysteries of Light or Luminous
Mysteries. The Lenten season is a most
suitable opportunity to spend time,
individually or as a family, meditating on
the Sorrowful, Mysteries: The Agony in
the Garden, the Scourging, the Crowning
with Thorns, the Carrying of the Cross and
the Crucifixion. See kandle.ie to

‘Stations of the Cross’
This Lent the diocese is offering a video
series, led by Bishop Denis, with three
stations each week. The Stations can be
accessed on kandle.ie from 3pm each
Friday during Lent, as well as on the
Kandle Facebook page. It is also available
in written format for those who prefer to
pray the stations in that way. The video
reflections are read by people from the
diocese who have been seriously
impacted by COVID.
 YEAR OF ST. JOSEPH 2021
Pope Francis has declared 2021 “The Year of
St. Joseph”. In his Apostolic Letter,
“Patris Corde” (A father’s Heart), Pope
Francis describes St. Joseph as a beloved
father, a tender and loving father, an obedient
father, an accepting father; a father who is
creatively courageous, a working father, a father
in the shadows.
Let us now make our prayer to him:
PRAYER TO ST. JOSEPH
Hail, Guardian of the Redeemer, Spouse of the
Blessed Virgin Mary.
To you God entrusted his only
Son; in you Mary placed her
trust; with you Christ became
man. Blessed Joseph, to us
too, show yourself a father
and guide us in the path of life.
Obtain for us grace, mercy and
courage, and defend us from every evil.

Fundraising - Go Fund Me
Due to the current Covid 19 restrictions, the
Graveyard Committee are unable to carry out
their normal fundraising efforts.
We have decided to set up a Go Fund Me page
to raise vital funds for the maintenance and
upkeep of the cemetery. This maintenance is
carried out on a voluntary basis by a number of
dedicated members. Any donation you could
make would be greatly appreciated, in an effort
to keep our Cemetery well maintained.
