Hardware Requirement for Running RHEV and Future Versions of RHEL
Dear Partner
As you may be aware that Red Hat ensures that our products are upgraded time to time to provide the
best to the customers. In this endeavor we also needs to ensure that we have the right mix of Hardware
to run our product. We have released the new Hardware Specification for our Training Programs
conducted by our partners and the details are as below.
Instructor machine/server:
• x86-64 processor, with Intel VT or AMD-V support (see below)
• 4 GB RAM
• 180 GB hard disk space
• DVD drive capable of booting system
• USB2 external port
• Video card capable of 1024x768 resolution or better under RHEL 5 and above
• TWO GIGABIT [10/100/1000 Mbps] Ethernet cards compatible with RHEL 5
• Network must be 1000 Mbps or faster
NOTE: The facility should have Internet access available for instructor use, one NIC should be
plugged into a port accessible to the rest of the training center and the Internet; the other should be
networked with all other classroom machines but isolated from the rest of the facility network. Internet
access can therefore be controlled by the instructor. We will be running our own DHCP server on the
instructor machine for the classroom network, which will not be visible to the rest of the facility
network.
Student machines:
Most classes: One machine per student.
