AIM:

To design an Inverting Amplifier for the given specifications using Op-Amp IC 741.

COMPONENTS REQUIRED FOR MULTISIM SIMULATION SOFTWARE TOOL

1. Op-Amp
2. Resistors 3 Nos ( Ri = 1 KΩ, Rf =10 KΩ, RL = 100 KΩ
3. Power supply +/- 15V
4. Signal generator 1 KHz to 100 KHz

THEORY:

This is the one of the most popular op-amp circuits. The polarity of the input voltage gets
inverted at the output. If a sine wave is fed to the input of this amplifier, the output will be an
amplified sine wave with 180o phase shift. The gain of the inverting amplifier is given by the
expression :

A= -Rf/Ri

where Rf is the feedback resistance and R iis the input resistance. Inverting amplifier can be
used as a scaler because the amplitude of the output can be varied by varying either of the
resistors Rf or Ri.
CIRCUIT DIAGRAM:

DESIGN:

Gain of the inverting amplifier A= -Rf/Ri

Let the required gain be -10

Then Rf/Ri=10

Take Ri=1KΩ. Then R f = 10 KΩ

Let RL = 100 KΩ

MODEL GRAPH
PROCEDURE:

1. Connect the components as per the circuit diagram to obtain the schematic in
Multisim.

2. Set sweep generator to 2V p-p sine wave and observe the input and output
simultaneously. Verify the gain and phase inversion.

3. Record the output waveforms

OBSERVATIONS:

GRAPH FROM THE SIMULATION

RESULT:

The design and simulation of the inverting amplifier was done and the input and output
waveforms were recorded.

Gain (theoretical) = _______10_____________

Gain (practical) =_________9.994____________

Date: 5.b. NON - INVERTING AMPLIFIER

10/02/2021

AIM:

To design a Non- Inverting Amplifier for the given specifications using Op-Amp IC 741.

COMPONENTS REQUIRED FOR MULTISIM SIMULATION SOFTWARE TOOL

1. Op-Amp
2. Resistors 3 Nos ( Ri = 1 KΩ, Rf =10 KΩ, R L = 100 KΩ
3. Power supply +/- 15V
4. Signal generator 1 KHz to 100 KHz

THEORY:

This circuit provides a gain to the input signal without any change in polarity. The gain of the
inverting amplifier is given by the expression A=1+R f/Ri where Rf is the feedback resistance
and Riis the input resistance. The input impedance of non-inverting amplifier is extremely
large, typically 100MΩ.

A= 1+ Rf/Ri

where Rf is the feedback resistance and R iis the input resistance.

CIRCUIT DIAGRAM:

DESIGN:

Gain of non-inverting amplifier A= 1+ R f/Ri

Let the gain be 11

i.e., 1+ Rf/Ri= 11

or Rf/Ri=10

Take Ri=1KΩ.

Then Rf = 10KΩ

MODEL GRAPH
PROCEDURE:

1. Connect the components as per the circuit diagram to obtain the schematic in
Multisim.

2. Set sweep generator to 2V p-p sine wave and observe the input and output
simultaneously. Verify the gain and phase inversion.

3. Record the output waveforms

OBSERVATIONS:

CIRCUIT SCHEMATIC ON MULTISIM

GRAPH FROM THE SIMULATION
RESULT:

The design and simulation of the non-inverting amplifier was done and the input and output
waveforms were recorded.
