RE:- State ofMinnesota v. Algene Leeland Vossen

Court File: 34-CR-20-658
County Attorney File: 20CR00832

Your Honor:

Mr. Vossen was hospitalized on Saturday, October 17, 2020. He has been in the
hospital since
that time. This morning I was informed that Mr. Vossen no longer meets level of care but
hospital
requires 24-hour skilled nursing care. The Kandiyohi County Jail is not equipped to meet Mr. Vossen’s
medical needs. The hospital plans to release Mr. Vossen as soon as an appropriate
placement is
located. I am asking that the court amend Mr. Vossen’s release conditions to allow for a
furlough to a
nursing home or other equivalent facility while Mr. Vossen requires 24-hour skilled nursing care.
Given the seriousness of the offense, Mr. Vossen should be required to obtain this treatment in a
facility. We are requesting a furlough so ier. Vossen’s condition improves to the point where he no
longer requires 24-hour skilled nursing care, he would be expected to report back to the Kandiyohi
County Jail.

I have contacted Kent Marshall and left a message. l have not heard back on his position on this
request.

Respectfully,

Kri en Pierce
First Assistant Kandiyohi County Attorney
