Executive Summary

The banking sector is always considered one of the most fundamental sectors for the economy to
be able to function. In this economic era, In order to achieve advancement in the industrial and
commercial division, there ought to be a sound banking system to support not only the economy
but also the society. This report focuses on the Overall Banking System of NCC Bank Limited,
Moghbazar Branch. This report covers my brief experience during my three months of internship
at the Moghbazar Branch of National Credit & Commerce Bank Limited. It contains a brief
overview of the organization, which includes its History, Characteristics of NCCBL, Objectives,
Products, and Services of NCCBL, mission, vision, slogan and the list of the Board of Directors.
The report is, for the most part, focused on my obligations as an intern, the duties I was given
and the lesson I have learned. It likewise features mine interaction with my supervisor and other
coworkers and What I have gained from them. I likewise clarify the challenges I looked during
this period and what I have done to beat them. I additionally feature how this internship has
impacted me and how it has influenced my future plans. The Appendix part contains the Updated
Curriculum Vitae, Employee Satisfaction Survey, Payment Slip, Joining Letter and all the week

Origin of the Report

The topic of the Study

To compose a report is important to choose a topic. A well-defined topic reflects what will be
examined all through the report. The topic has been assigned​ "Overall Banking System"​ in
National Credit and Commerce Bank Limited. The report has talked about how the bank operates
its activities.

Objective of the study

The reasons for this report cognates the internship purpose. The internship objective was to
assemble reasonable information and experience of the corporate workplace. To this regard, this
report is considering the information and experience gathered.

Overview of NCC Bank Ltd.

Presently National Credit and Commerce Bank Limited (NCCBL) is a standout amongst the
most prominent banks in Bangladesh. The bank started its journey from 1985 as a venture

The Departments and The Employees of Moghbazar Branch

Mahfuzur Rahman is our General Manager who screens the entire office and A.S.M Kamal
Hossain is the Deputy Manager who helps the General Manager. Three First Assistant Vice
Presidents are there as In-Charge of every department. Ms. Ruma Sultana is the In-Charge of
General Banking, Mr. Al-Amin is the In-Charge of Credit and advance and Mr. Shihab Rahman
is the In-Charge of Foreign Trade. There are around twenty-eight employees working in the
Moghbazar branch. They have five watchmen and eight office staffs. Altogether there are around
forty-four individuals working in this branch. The employees dependably attempt to put on a
formal clothing standard. Everyone is so polite and co-operative with each other there.
There are three departments in the office of Moghbazar Branch of NCC Bank Ltd.
1. General Banking
In General Banking division every one of the customers requests are met and new
accounts are opened. For opening any kind of account, all the essential archives are
checked and each exchange is made in this area.
2. Credit and Advance Department
In the Credit and Advance office, all the loan and advance works are done through
legitimate judgment.
3. Foreign Trade
Issuing of all the import and export L/Cs and issuance of a license which deals with
foreign currency are a few pieces of Foreign Exchange department.

Assignment and Contribution

In General Banking office, I was informed to help my supervisor Ms. Ruma Sultana and
other senior officers. I was allocated to open accounts, check account holders and
nominees NID or other verification copies, complete the KYC, put necessary seals to the
forms, help clients to fill up their forms and pay order checks and so on. I was
approached to make a locker statement on the Excel sheet and update it routinely at
whatever point any change had made. Another task was to write the transformation and
release order for the employees who were transferred to other branches. In the Foreign
Exchange department, I was briefed to check the Swift messages every day. Additionally,
I was advised to make the Source Tax statement consistently. They additionally offered
me to write some local and foreign forwarding letter which should be sent to the head
office. These were some of my allocated works that needed to do normally. Additionally,
at whatever point anybody required any help with their work, I constantly endeavored to
support them.
I helped them by reviewing the missing data and filling the account forms. While filling
up those forms, I discovered that a few clients did not give NID copy or anything for the
verification purpose, nominee's photograph and so on. Account holder and nominee both
need to give their signatures however there were a few forms that these things were
absent. So I took a few cheats and composed there which data was absent and joined
them with forms so they could request those missing things from the clients later. I
associated with the clients and helped them with filling up their forms who couldn't
compose. In some cases, there are some star clients who don't want any hassle while
opening an account and expect we will do the majority of their work. I helped these
clients by filling up their forms for the benefit of them. I also wrote some pay order
cheques. I made the locker statement and updated it regularly. Also, I checked the swift
messages daily, made Source Tax Statement, wrote forwarding letters and some other
things.

Lessons Learned from Internship

I have learned a lot of new things and improved my aptitudes and knowledge during my three
months internship. These three months in length program gave me my first experience of the
corporate world. I got the chance to work with various individuals, confronted some new
circumstances and challenges and figured out how to overcome them.
I tried to work in all the departments as knowing a specific work is not enough, having
knowledge about all the sectors is very important. I worked mostly in General Banking and
Foreign Trade departments. General Banking is the primary level of the whole banking process.
For any type of query, the customers need to go to this department first. Some activities of this
department are- opening new accounts, closing accounts, receiving cheques, issuing cheques,
giving bank statement and locker statement, issuing pay orders, verifying customers information,
delivering thanks letter to the customers, etc.

Here I have learned how to open new accounts, fill up the forms and complete the KYC, help
the customers with completing their forms, give the seals to verify the signatures, write pay
orders, compose release order and transfer letters, etc. I have learned how to handle the
customers when they are in a hurry or not in a good mood. Talking to them politely and
remaining calm in any situation are the most important things.

Foreign Trade department is another important section of the bank. There are import and
export sections in a foreign trade department. It helps corporate clients to build their
businesses by giving financial and strategic advice and products. Here the daily transaction is
being done through foreign currencies. Here the most common form of currency is the US
dollar for exporting and importing. In the foreign trade department, I updated information on
Microsoft Excel and also in the register book. I also updated the L/C opening register in the
import section.

Time management is another important thing in the job sector. The employees of NCC Bank
have to arrive at the office within 9:30 AM where the office starts at 10:00 AM. After coming
and before leaving, the first thing to do is greeting the colleagues. Maintaining a good
relationship in the office is very important.

Interaction with Supervisor and Co-workers

During my three months of Internship, I have made a solid relational association with my
supervisor and the majority of the co-workers. On the absolute first day, I went to the workplace
and conversed with the FAVP and presented myself as a new intern. She invited me and took
me to the manager of our branch. The manager welcomed me pleasantly. He was so polite and
wanted to know about my educational background and also asked me to let them know if I
faced any problem there. On the first day, they didn't let me do any work rather they needed me
to get settled with the new condition and watch their work so I could understand the pattern of
work. From the second day they appointed my work and at whatever point I confronted an issue
with anything they helped me with that.

My other colleagues were likewise supportive. I was preferred by them for the sincerity I had
towards my work. They felt easy and secured to assign me any activity and I likewise attempted
my dimension best to satisfy the obligations I was given by them inside the given time and with
remedy. Sometimes I got applauded by them as I had the capacity to complete a few works
before the designated time.

How I have dealt with any difficulties I have encountered​:

As this was my first time working in the corporate world, it appeared somewhat hard to
comprehend the corporate culture. I committed a few errors during my work yet my partners
were in every case steady to me and rectified my oversights without saying anything to
anybody. They used to rouse me all the time which helped me a ton to adapt up to this expert
world.

From the first day of working there, the greatest obstacle for me was working with the account
forms. At first, I was attempting to comprehend which form was for what activities as there
were such a significant number of sorts of forms. There was an alternate code for each form and
I attempted to recollect those codes which helped me a lot. I also read the forms a couple of
times to understand and remove confusion and it helped to remember and understand what it
was used.

I likewise confronted a few troubles with the clients. Once in a while, they got very stubborn
that it appeared to be hard to deal with them. Likewise, some of them would not like to give
legal documents and proper information for which we could not have the proper record of them.
They gave instances of different banks that every one of the documents was not required there
but rather NCC Bank was severe with this issue. All the customers needed to provide legal
documents and information to open an account. All the employees in NCCBL were well trained
that they never allowed breaking the rule and neither did I whenever I saw them doing
something not legal.
Sometimes I had to work extra time when the work pressure was high. They never forced me to
stay late at the office but I always tried to help them as far as I could. Also sometimes while
working, some other colleagues assigned me some other works but I always tried to finish the
work that I was doing earlier and then I went for the new work.

Whenever I was struggling with understanding something, I immediately asked for help so that
it did not take much time to complete the task. I always tried to double check the entries that I
made to reduce mistakes. My colleagues were so friendly and they taught me how to avoid
mistakes so easily. Without their help, it was very tough for me to handle all those difficulties.
They encouraged me all the time which helped me a lot through this internship journey.

Differences between my Expectations and Experience

Before I joined NCC Bank, I expected that a bank must be very formal and the people there must
be very senior to me and less friendly. I thought that I would get scolded there for my mistakes
and flaws, so I set myself up for that rationally and I was prepared to confront that sort of
circumstance and not to feel awful. But my thoughts were proven wrong just after I joined NCC
Bank. The things that occurred there were completely inverse to my considerations. I was
warmly accepted by them on the first day of my joining. All the co-workers behaved with me
friendly and they acted as if I was one of them. I never felt like I am doing an internship in the
office rather I felt like an employee of the bank who was doing his jobs.

My colleagues were so helpful and they used to correct me every time if I had made any
mistake. I was encouraged by them and never felt down. They also gave their references that
they used to do mistakes in their earlier times too and after many years of working they still do
some mistakes sometimes. After hearing all that I found hope. I thought that I always just need
to be present in the office for eight hours long but I could leave the office earlier whenever
there was less pressure on work.

Before joining here as an intern, I was told by some of my friends that internship in banks is
not a wise decision. Interns are usually ordered to do photocopies and other kinds of stuff
which are not related to the banking system and this is not good for them in the long run. I too
learned to do photocopy but I took it in a positive way that I could learn a new thing. I think
there is nothing bad about learning something new.

Influence on Career Plans

At first, I was not interested that much with regards to working in the Banking area. Amid my
internship period, I came to find out about the corporate culture, working environment,
professional behavior, practical tasks and so on. This internship helped me a lot to choose
from where I need to begin my profession. I had dependably an arrangement to work in a
multinational organization however at this point I am likewise keen on making a vocation in
this segment. Here I could improve my communication skill, customer services, conflict
management, and time management. It also created an opportunity for me to build some
professional network which will certainly help me in the future.

Additionally, the environment is so friendly. Everybody was extremely helpful and constantly
motivated me that I would do well in the Banking area. They were the genuine motivation to
me. One additionally thing that pulled in me is their decent salary amount. They offer entirely
attractive compensation for entry-level officers. I was planning to start a job right after
completing my BBA. Now I am considering this Banking sector as my career as well. My
colleagues have suggested me to take preparation for the written exam and interview of the
bank. So I will get myself prepared for both MBA exam and written exam of a bank.

Activity summary week-01


I have been working at NCC Bank Limited, Moghbazar branch from February 03, 2019 as an
intern. It is situated on the second floor of a four-story building. The office starts at 10 am on
&ends at 6 pm. On the very first day, I went to the office at 9:50 am and talked to the FAVP
and introduced myself as a new intern. She welcomed me and took me to the manager of our
branch. The manager greeted me nicely. He was so polite and wanted to know about my
educational background and also asked me to let them know if I faced any problem there. Ms.
Ruma Sultana who is the FAVP of General Banking is my supervisor. I gave her my joining
letter to get done with all the formalities. Then I asked her how I should address my colleagues.
She told me that I could address them as bhaiya/apu instead of Sir/Ma’am. Then she took me to
a tour of the entire office and all the departments.

Observation
While visiting the other departments I observed that there were 3 departments in the office.
They were 1) General Banking 2) Advanced Banking & 3) Foreign Trade. As Ms. Ruma
Sultana had to get back to her work, she could only manage to introduce me with the
co-workers of General Banking and Advanced departments. There was another intern working
with me who was from Jagannath University. On the next day, my supervisor asked him to
take me to the Foreign Trade Department and introduce me to them. All the employees try to
maintain formal dress code as it was mandatory. So, for the first week, I observed the people
and their work and activities of the departments.

Work was done


My supervisor told me to join the front desk of General Banking to see how the initial work
was done. The Front desk is about helping customers to deal with their account queries. There
were two officers named Fatema Akhter and Fateha Jannat Himi at the front desk and they
were working with the customer’s account opening form and other issues. I was asked to
observe their work and customers. Later, they gave me some account opening forms of the
customers and asked me to write down the missing information. On the first day, there was not
that much work pressure rather they informed me of the formal ambiance and the official
timing. When it was 3 PM, Ms. Ruma Sultana told me that I could leave early as it was my
first day. On the following days they asked me to get known to the products they offer and
their requirements, fill up the forms and observe their work. This week I put the seals beside
the account holder’s signature and also beside the account opening officer’s signature.

Learning and Achievement

I learned from them about how many bank accounts were there and how to fill up the forms.
There were Savings account, Current account, FDR account, DPS, etc. and for opening these
accounts, the account number and customer ID need to be authorized. Also, another
achievement was to learn how to do a photocopy on the same page. I learned that customers
need to fill up forms for the solvency and bank statement. At last in this week I learned how to
write deposit slip as I helped some customers to write their slip.

Activity summary week-02

As this was my new beginning at the bank part, I began with the General Banking division to
understand the fundamental ideas of banking. While topping off those structures, I discovered
that a few clients did not give NID copy or anything for verification, nominee's photograph
and etc. Account holder and nominee both need to give their signature however there were a
few forms that these things were absent. So I took a few cheats and composed there which data
was absent and appended those with the forms so they could request those missing things from
the clients later. Toward the finish of the main seven day stretch of my internship, I worked on
some important forms that customers need. I arranged more than ten types of forms and
provided the forms to the customers who came for the statement, solvency, DBL goes and so
on. That week I interacted with the customers a bit more and helped the customers with filling
up their forms who could not write. Sometimes there are some star customers who do not want
any hassle while opening an account and expect we will do most of their work. I helped these
customers by filling up their forms on behalf of them. After that, they taught me how to write
pay order cheques and I had to write around thirty pay order cheques.

Some staffs were transferred to another branch and also some new staffs joined there. My
supervisor Ms. Ruma Sultana asked me to write a release and transfer order and also joining
letter for those staffs. She instructed me how to write those letters and I helped her with that.

Learning and achievement:

On the second week, I continued sitting in the front desk and helped them by writing the
missing information and filling up the account forms. As I had done this in my first week, on
my second week I understood the work a little bit more. Customers have to give their NID,
TIN certificate or passport copy and nominee’s NID to open an account. They need to attach
these copies with the forms. I also got familiar with different seals which are used to verify

signatures. I wanted to work in all the departments. So whenever anyone needs any assistance
with the work, I rushed to his/her desk to help. At the end of the week, there was less workload
at the general banking department.

Observation:

One thing that I observed last week was NCC Bank encourages the employees to convince the
customers to open more accounts with bonus and increments. I observed that the operation
managers and the branch manager of the bank Is really very active. They continuously monitor
everyone’s works and make sure whether every customer is getting their service properly.
They give equal priority to each and every customer. Also, I observed that if any customer is
facing the problem the manager or the operation manager help them spontaneously which is
appreciable.

Activity summary week-03

In the third week of my internship, I worked almost equally in every department. That week
I had to write the locker statement on Microsoft Excel. There were three types of lockers- small,
medium and large. Ms. Ruma Sultana gave me three files of locker statements where all the
customers’ information was written who have taken their locker service. I had to update those
customers information like their address, phone number, size of a locker, code number, etc. on
excel. There were some lockers that were already closed and I was not supposed to write them.
So, I wrote those carefully and noticed that most of the customers use the small locker. After
sometimes, our Deputy Manager wanted to see the locker statement, so I shared that file to his
folder.
There were coming new customers like every day to open accounts. So, it was my daily job to

fill up those forms and also to check whether there was any missing information in the pending
forms. I used to receive the phone calls when Ms. Ruma Sultana was not at her desk and
transferred them to other desks. After a few days, Minar had finished his three months internship
there and a new intern Lubna joined in our branch and I was asked to assist her. I helped her with
filling up the account forms and also took her to every department to introduce her with
everyone. One of our colleagues Ms. Faria from the Advance department was in her leave on that
week. She always makes the daily, weekly and monthly checklist of a month where all the
employees have to give their signatures. Because of her absence, Ms. Ruma told me to make the
daily, weekly and monthly checklist for the month of October and I made the checklist with the
help of Mr. Akmol. Then Mr. Akmol gave me some stock reports of five companies. He gave me
a short brief at first how to write them. There I had to write the materials, quantity, and rate of
the products and I had to find out the total value of the materials. I also worked in the Foreign
Trade department that week. Ms. Nazmun Nahar asked me to write the Export L/C of Sales
Contract where I had to write the credit number, beneficiary name, dollar amount and item name
in the register.
Learning and Achievement
That week I came to learn the code numbers of the forms. There are separate code numbers for
each account forms. For example, for savings account the code is 031, 021 for current account,
033 for FDR, 055 for SSS (Special Savings Scheme), etc. and their bank code is 0011 for
Moghbazar branch. By the third week, I have learned so many things like how to receive a
check, why a check can be dishonored, the difference between account payable cheques and pay
order cheques. Also, I came to know the pay order check is safer than account payable cheques.
There was a customer who came to open an account but could not understand which account
would be suitable for him. Then I managed to convince him to open a fixed deposit. Though this
was a little achievement but my supervisor was amazed by my convincing power.

Observation
The thing that I observed this week is that the NCC bank gives some benefits to the women
for opening savings accounts. To encourage women for saving, it charges less interest so
that they become more interested in opening a savings account.

Activity summary week-04

In the fourth week of my internship, I worked mostly in the Foreign Trade Department. As Ms.
Nazmun Nahar would be on her mandatory leave from the next week, so she told me to seat at
her desk when she would be on her leave. This week I came to know so many things about
foreign exchange and she assigned me some work that I would be doing on her absence. Ms.
Nazmun Nahar also asked me to write the Export L/C of the sales contract, where I had to write
the beneficiary name, dollar amount and item name in the register. Mr. Obaidur Rahman gave
me some monthly Source Tax Statement that has to send to their head office on a regular basis.
I made that Statement for the month of October where I had to work on Microsoft Excel and
wrote the company names, dollar amounts and also found out the dollar value. Also, I did some
general banking staffs like filling up the pending forms, checking the seals and signatures,
completing KYC, etc. Our new intern Tanzina Lubna was doing mostly the general banking
works, so I did not have to do that much work in there. In the Advance department, Mr. Akmol
gave me another five company’s stock report and there I had to write the materials, quantity,
and rate of the products and I had to find out the total value of the materials.

Learning and achievements

I have learned to make a checklist for the opening of Back to Back (BTB) LC of some
companies. It is issued on behalf of a customer against the security of Export LCs for
procurement of raw materials either locally or from abroad and makes timely shipments. There
I had to write BTB LC value in dollar amount, shipment date, expiry date, etc. There are some
different accounts in Foreign Exchange and some of them are- Private Foreign Currency
Account which is opened and maintained by authorized dealing branches in foreign currency
without prior approval of Bangladesh Bank, Resident Foreign Currency Account which is for
the people ordinarily reside in Bangladesh, Non-Resident Foreign Currency Account which is
for all non-resident Bangladesh nationals and persons to earn interest in foreign currency on
their investible funds. Mr. Obaidur Rahman introduced me with SWIFT which works as a
messenger of our bank. He gave me a brief idea about how it works which was something like
an achievement that came to know about a new thing and he told me to work on it from the
next week.

Observation

One thing I observed that NCC bank gives training to the employees who are newly appointed.
To make the job permanent, the employees in the probationary period need to give some
different exams including written and verbal exams.

Activity summary week-05

This week I only worked at the Foreign Trade department as Ms. Nazmun Nahar was on her
mandatory leave. I had to sit at her desk and did some of her works that she used to do. Last
week she showed me how to write the forwarding letter, letter of the amendment and some
other stuff. So this week I worked as per her instructions. I wrote seventeen forwarding letters
and those letters were about requesting for opening Back to Back LC of some companies. These
letters are sent to the head office of NCCBL. Here we have to enclose all the necessary
documents and papers duly attested by our branch along with the LC opening checklist. We
need to complete all the documentation formalities and request the head office to open BTB LC
through this letter. Mr. Saleh Ahmed gave me a file named Outstanding of Customer Liability
on ABP and there were some company names, customer code, LC numbers, entry date, adjust
the date, the amount in local and FC currency. All I had to do was screening the LC numbers
and mark them on Microsoft Excel which was not adjusted in this month. Some of the LC
numbers were adjusted by payment and I was not supposed to mark them. Mr. Obaidur Rahman
gave me the Source Tax Statement that has to send to their head office on a regular basis. I
made that S/Tax Statement for the remaining days of October where I had to work on Microsoft
Excel and wrote the company names, dollar amounts and also found out the dollar value
depending on the dollar rate. There I had to check the total dollar value for the whole month and
I had to report it to him.

Learning and achievements

By working in Foreign Trade department I learned their work activities a bit more. From this
week I started working on Swift messenger where I had to check the messages that came to
our branch. Here I learned about Swift that it is a messenger of secured message platform for

financial institutions, especially for banks. The messages are sent and received in an encrypted

form through this messenger. For this, it is a reliable form of communication between banks.
For example, an issuing bank sends a swift message to an advising bank in order to inform the
issuance of documentary credit. Similarly advising banks send their acknowledgment through
this messenger. In the Outstanding of Customer Liability on ABP, there were twenty pages full
of LC numbers which were actually a huge task for me. But I managed to finish it very quickly
that Mr. Saleh Ahmed was very amazed to see it which was some kind of an achievement to
me.

Observation

Mr. Obaidur Rahman has an account in this swift messenger. Here I observed that he used

a long password to login to this account. I came to know that this password needed to be at least

eighteen characters. As I had to work the most in this department, I got the maximum amount
of privilege too. They gave me the passwords of all the PC’s, software and keys of all the
shelves regarding this department. But no one is allowed to know the password for this swift
messenger. So he always logs in to this account by himself and then I work on that messenger.
There I had to check the acknowledgment and incoming messages of our branch and had to
export the messages. There are always 5-7 messages daily and I download those messages and
take the prints of these documents.

Activity summary week-06

​Last week I worked at both the Foreign Trade and General Banking department. In Foreign
Trade department, I wrote some forwarding letters for the foreign and local LC’s which were

sent to the head office on a regular basis. Also, I had to check the messages in SWIFT account

every day. Then I printed those messages and separated those into three files named
discrepancy, acceptance, and LC. Mr. Saleh Ahmed gave some papers of local LC’s and from
those papers, I wrote the IRM number, TT amount and dollar amount in the register file.Mr.
Obaidur Rahman asked me to make a monthly statement of Local Documentary Bill Purchase
(LDBP). It was a statement of discount under loans and advances. Some account numbers,
client’s names, limit, open/purchase date, balance and expiry date were written there.

All I had to do was finding the bank names for the companies to make a loan account statement.

In General Banking department, Ms. Ruma Sultana asked me to make a list on MS Excel with

all the necessary information of people who were currently using our locker system. Then I was

given the responsibility of writing them thanking letters for using our locker system. There I

noticed that most of them prefer to use the small locker. Ms. Ruma Sultana also gave me
another letter to type which was for the head office of NCC Bank. It was about the installation
of Sub Meter and others at ATM Booth of our Moghbazar branch.

Learning and achievements

This week I learned that we need to remain calm in any situation and we need to maintain good
customer relationship. It is important to be very co-operative and humble towards our
customers, otherwise, they may not feel free to come to us regarding any problem. I learned that
the forms of each account have some particular number according to which these need to be
arranged in the files. There are also closed files of each type of account in which we put the
form that has matured. My achievement for this week is to learn how to deal with customers
and how to talk with them when they need any information. Moreover, I learned that FDR is a
good option to save money

with interest.

Observation

By working in the General Banking department, I observed that business people are usually
more likely to open a current account in the name of their organizations and most of the people
prefer to open a savings account. NCC Bank has a lot of old loyal customers who have FDR
and other accounts at this bank and they again come to open accounts as they have become a
loyal customer of the bank. NCC Bank has a loan division that deals with different kinds of
loans such as home loan, car loan, etc.

Activity summary week-07

In the 7th week of my internship, I continued working in the Foreign Trade Department. I had
to work for the General Banking and Advance department as well. It was my daily task to check
the Swift messages. Then I printed those out and organized those in different files. I wrote some
local and foreign forwarding letters and those letters were about requesting for opening Back to
Back LC of some companies. Mr. Saleh Ahmed gave some papers of local LC’s and from those
papers, I wrote the IRM number, TT amount and dollar amount in the register file. So, these
were
some of my daily activities in the Foreign Trade Department. In General Banking department,
Ms. Ruma asked me to type a letter to the head office. It was about the requirement of Auto Fire
Alarm and Auto Alarm System as per Bangladesh Bank 25th Audit Objection. We did not have
these facilities in our branch and we were in a need of these things for a high-security purpose.

Learning and achievements


This week I learned a new thing about posting. I did three postings of a company. There were
several steps to complete the procedure. At first, I needed to identify the company name, then
wrote their LC number, ERC, IRC, BOI and customer bonded number. Then I had to put the
quantity number of their products and then found out the actual value considering the limit and
VAT amount. There was a lot of other information that I had to put there. Then finally I posted it
to the head office. In the accounts department, I got to learn how to make work vouchers. All the
works done at a day in the office are registered through these vouchers. These vouchers are made
on the following working day as the list of work is recorded in it. The rule is everyone is
supposed to submit their vouchers on a working day before leaving. One of our party names was
Asia Linkage and they were supposed to send us a Sanction copy of their company. Mr. Obaidur
asked me to check if they had sent the copy or not. I was checking frequently but there was no
message from them. Then Mr. Obaidur gave me a number of Asia Linkage and asked me to call

them to send the sanction copy.


Observation

NCC Bank has 115 branches in total all over Bangladesh. Among them, about 15-16branches
have the power of authorization. Moghbazar branch is one of them and has this authorization
power also. So, this was the observation of mine for this week.

Activity summary week-08

This week I worked at the Clearance area and Foreign Trade division. In the Clearance segment,
at first, I watched their work to realize what they really do. At that point, I began working with
the officer. She educated me where to put got the seal on the check. I gathered the check from
the customers and after that checked the date, their marks, and the sum in words. Additionally,
the customers should compose their telephone number and record number at the back of the
check. In this way, I checked those cautiously if everything was alright or not. Finally, I put got
the seal on the store voucher and afterward I gave back the customers duplicate to them. In the
Foreign Trade office, I checked the quick messages day by day. There were around thirty
messages during the current week. Likewise, I kept in touch with some local and foreign
forwarding letters. In the wake of creating those letters, I printed those out. For each sending
letter, I printed out two duplicates. At that point I isolated the LC duplicates into two sections,
one was for the head office and another was the workplace duplicate. At that point stapled those
two duplicates of sending the letter with those LC duplicates by coordinating the LC number and
dollar sum.

Learning and achievements

I got the chance to discover some new information from the clearance section this week. There
are two kinds of clearing checks and these are high esteem check and normal esteem check. The
checks which are five lac or in excess of five lac are high esteem checks and beneath five lac are
normal esteem checks. High esteem checks are gotten inside 11 AM. In the event that there is
any watch that comes after 11 AM, we get it as a normal esteem check. This week I came to
learn distinctive things about Clearance section which I would consider as an accomplishment.

Observation

This week I saw that a few experts went to our office and set auto caution framework and auto

Activity summary week-09

In the 9​th ​week of my internship, I worked both in the Foreign Trade and General Banking
department. In General Banking department, I provided a fixed deposit form to the customers
with an undertaking form. I explained to the customers the rates that they are going to get for
the fixed deposit. After that, I filled up the form for them and then submitted it to the account
opening officer for further processing.

My supervisor Ms. Ruma Sultana asked me to update the locker statement that I had made
previously. Some of the clients made the payment for their locker service and some opened up
new locker last week. So I had to adjust it on the Excel sheet and found out the value including
VAT for each of them. After updating the list I printed out a copy and sent the soft copy to our
Deputy Manager and The Audit.

In the Foreign Trade department, I checked the Swift messages daily. Then Ms. Nazmun Nahar
gave me some Export L/C of Sales Contract where I had to write the credit number,
beneficiary name, dollar amount and item name in the register. There were almost 15 sales
contracts that I had to work on.

Mr. Saleh Ahmed gave me some L/C values for three companies. I made L/C value statement
using those values on the Excel. He also asked me to write an application to the Foreign

Exchange Investment Department, Bangladesh Bank on behalf of one of their party and it was
about requesting for permission to extend the validity of ABP for 360 days. There I enclosed a

list and wrote the L/C numbers, ABP value in foreign currency, maturity date and description
of the goods.

Learning and achievements:

Here I have learned that for FDR account, customers must fill up an undertaken or UN
resolution form with it. Also, I learned that the forms of each account have some particular
number according to which these need to be arranged in the files. There are also closed files of
each type of account in which we put the form that has matured.

Observation:

While making the locker statement, I observed that there was a total of 108 lockers in our
branch and 38 clients were currently using our locker system. There were 72 small lockers, 27
medium lockers, and 9 large lockers and most of the clients were using small lockers. Only a
few were using the large locker. Rent of small locker was 3000 taka, 4000 for medium and
6000 for a large locker and for each locker vat was included. If anyone needs any replacement
of lost or damaged key then he has to pay 200 tk for a small locker, 300 for medium and 400
for a large locker.

I also observed that NCC Bank has a lot of old loyal customers who have FDR and other
accounts at this bank and they again come to open accounts as they have become loyal
customer of the bank. Another thing I observed is that the ATM machine is controlled by the
cash counter. If there is any problem with the ATM machine customers need to contact the
cash counter people.

Activity summary week-10

This week I worked at the Foreign Trade and General Banking department both. I wrote some
forwarding letters and those letters were about requesting for opening Back to Back LC of
some companies. Also checked the Swift messages and arranged L/C’s in different files. Mr.
Saleh Ahmed gave me almost thirty copies. Each copy needs to have L/C copy, Bill of lading,
Bill of entry, Payment advice, Acceptance copy, Proforma Invoice, Commercial Invoice,
Certificate of origin, Suppliers credit report and Packing list. All I needed to do was screening
out all the copies and to find out the missing papers and mark them as missing so that they can
work on it further and attach those missing papers.

Mr. Obaidur Rahman gave me the Source Tax Statement that has to send to their head office
on a regular basis. I made that S/Tax Statement for the remaining days of November where I
had to work on Microsoft Excel and wrote the company names, dollar amounts and also found
out the dollar value depending on the dollar rate. There I had to check the total dollar value for

Learning and achievements:

This week I came to learn that there are two systems to pay the bills- one is L/C and the other
one is the sales contract. L/C is the legal document and it is made the seller which means the
buyer is bound to pay the bills. On the other hand, the sales contract is something that is made
up depending on the trust that the buyer will pay the bills. From this, I learned that L/C is safer
than the sales contract in terms of paying bills.

As this was my last week in the office, some of my colleagues wanted me to extend my
internship period as they thought me a helping hand and reduce their work pressure. This was

the biggest achievement for me.

Observation​:

​This week while working at the General Banking department of NCC Bank I observed how
they are dealing with the big clients. The big clients are important for the bank and they want
to maintain a good relationship with them always along with the other clients. I also observed
that some clients are requesting for giving the cheque that day even after time was over but it
was not possible for the bank to do it as time was fixed by the Bangladesh Government.
Another important thing I observed was time management for the employees who are working
at clearinghouse is a must.

Also, I observed that they made a poster and placed it in our office written that there was a
special discount in Hajj, Umrah, and air tickets for using our cards. For Hajj, there was a
discount up to 20,000 tk, for Umrah 2,000 tk and 6% discount for the air tickets.
