God’s Dream

or
The Cosmic Project of God
By Ardelean Razvan Ioan

Any man should ask himself these fundamental questions: Who am I? Where do I come from?
What is the purpose of my existence? The philosophers tried to answer these questions but with
not much success. Christians pretend they have found in God this answer, but I am asking you,
practically, did Christians find the meaning of life? Do we really know why we were created? Of
course, there are theological answers to these questions, for instance, we are created for the good
pleasure of God, or we are created to praise and worship Him and other similar ones. But I’m
sincerely asking you if these answers are satisfactory to you. Don’t you think that there is more
than this?

Celestial relationships

In order to get the answer to this question firstly we must look deeply into the core of what we call
Trinity.

In the eternity before the birth of the Universe, when time was not yet “invented”, there was a
wonderful communion among the three persons – the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit – that
formed one single being. Their relationship was governed by the principle of divine love, a love
that is self-giving.

In this type of love – agape – everyone is preoccupied not by his own person but to honor
others and bring them joy.

This defining attitude for the Divinity we can observe from the assertions made in the Bible on
different occasions, in the following way:

- The Father honored the Son and gave Him His whole authority: And Jesus came and spoke
to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.” (Matt.
28:18) For the Father judges no one, but has committed all judgment to the Son, that all
should honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does
not honor the Father who sent Him. (John 5:22-23) (see also Matt. 11:27, John 3:35,
Philippians 2:9-11)

- Jesus didn’t take advantage of this in order to “have fun”, but honored the Father and
remained obedient to the point of death: … who, being in the form of God, did not consider
it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a
bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man,
He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the
cross. Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above
every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of
those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that
Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (Philippians 2:6-11)

1
- After finishing completely His work, the Son will restore authority in the hands of the
Father: Then comes the end, when He delivers the kingdom to God the Father, when He
puts an end to all rule and all authority and power. For He must reign till He has put all
enemies under His feet. … For “He has put all things under His feet.” … when all things
are made subject to Him, then the Son Himself will also be subject to Him who put all
things under Him, that God may be all in all. (1 Cor. 15:24-28)

- As for the Holy Spirit, He never glorifies Himself but Jesus and the Father; nevertheless the
Son says “Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the
blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men” (Matt. 12:31). In this way He is
honoring the Holy Spirit, considering Him more important than his own person.

- Here’s how the Father and the Son honor each other: Then Jesus… said to them: “Most
assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do;
for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner. For the Father loves the Son, and
shows Him all things that He Himself does; … For the Father judges no one, but has
committed all judgment to the Son, that all should honor the Son just as they honor the
Father.” (John 5:19-23)

- The Father finds His pleasure in the Son (Matt. 17:5)

- The Father is hearing the Son (John 11:42)

- The Son finds His pleasure in the Father (John 4:34)

- The Son does what is pleasing unto the Father (John 8:29; 14:13)

Author DeVern Fromke, in his book “The Final Purpose” wrote, “The Father has decided in
Himself that all things are to gravitate around His Son, and the Son, on His side, is dedicating
Himself to the work of glorifying and satisfying the Father”.

“The Father wants the Son to have precedence in all things. The Son lives to reveal the Father and
in this way He brings Him honor and delight. The Spirit does not speak of Himself, or for Himself,
but is dedicating Himself to the work of revealing the Son and achieving the Father’s plan.” (1996,
published in Romanian in Marghita by Lampadarul de Aur Publisher)

The Creation of Man

At the basis of the creation of man there seems to have been the wish of God to multiply the
relationship from within the Trinity into a numerous family. That’s why the man was
created “in the imagine of God”, in distinction with the rest of the created beings (Genesis
1:26)

God’s purpose in creating man was the big family where this principle of love to operate.

Was this God’s ultimate purpose in creating man?

If we get deeper into the divine “Dream”, studying the Scriptures, we will discover that

2
- The Father’s wish was to prepare a Bride for His Son, and a Temple for the Holy Spirit
- The Son’s wish was that the Father would have more and more sons alike Him, in whom
the Father would find honor, glory and paternal delight
- The Spirit’s wish was that the Father would have worshipers and the Son many brothers
animated by the same type of life within them, the uncreated life of God.

All these express the attitude of each of the persons inside the Trinity to exalt each other, to honor,
to bring joy, to be ready even for sacrifice, in need, like Jesus proved it.

The members of the Trinity are not so much centered on self as we humans are. Each of them lives
somehow for the glory of the others. Every one of them wants to highlight the greatness and the
beauty of the others.

Relations are the key objective of God. He wants to multiply inside a bigger family the relationship
inside the Trinity, that attitude of love that is self-giving, that attitude of mutual dedication.

We are the Father’s gift for the Son, as a Bride; we are the Son’s gift to the Father as a
family of brothers alike Him; and a gift of the Father and of the Son for the Holy Spirit, as a
Temple.

We have been created to be part of the existing love inside the family of God, an inherent love of
His nature. We have been created to be divine, to be part of this divine family and to be able to be
partakers of this overwhelming love.

We can almost say that we have been created for Him to love us, so that the Father would have
someone to pour out His overflowing of paternal love.

We have not been created only to be redeemed (saved) and we have not been redeemed only to
become “better”, more moral. Our destiny transcends our earthly existence. We, the “born again”,
are in a sense aliens. Hebrews 11:13 and 1 Peter 2:11 say that we are just strangers and pilgrims
on this earth. We are heavenly, we are part of the family of God (Ephesians 2:19).

This was from the beginning the Dream of God, that’s why He made us from the beginning into
His image. This is His continual Dream, even if we are now “a little lower than the angels” (Psalm
8:5; Hebrews 2:7). We truly have a destiny that is worth envying (1 Peter 1:12).

Having said all these, when we look at the handiwork of God we should not lose sight of the fact
that He Himself is the initiator as well as the recipient of this cosmic project. Not man in himself
is the reason God created him. The purpose of creation is not the man. Man was created for the
joy of God. In the center of this Project is He Himself, for the simple reason that there is nothing
more worthy, more important and greater that is to be in the center of the whole Universe, other
than He Himself. He is also providing the way and the resources by which this Project will be
fulfilled.

“For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things” (Romans 11:36)

Concerning us, humans, the good part is that in this plan, in His perfect will, is included also our
good, the fulfillment of our destiny (see the message “A great destiny”).

3
That’s the reason we are formed, molded, finished by His Sovereign hand, we are tried in His
furnace, in His laboratory, in order to be formed in us a heavenly character, to be prepared to enter
in His family.

Let us not forget, therefore, that this Cosmic Project does not have in its center the man, but God
Himself, even if the man has his good part in this Project, in certain conditions.
