Important Notes
Before using the jetStamp graphic 970, always read the operating instructions and in particular the safety notes with
care. This prevents insecurities in handling of the marking device and connected safety risks to keep you safe and avoid
damage to the device.

Rechargeable batteries
Charging of the rechargeable batteries is controlled electronically. This unsures that the battery cells are charged fully
and protectively.
Charging
ff Completely charge rechargeable batteries before the first application. Duration approx. three hours.
After first complete loading, the rechargeable batteries will not reach the full capacity yet.
Expect that the regular operating times will be undercut.
Reaching full capacity
The full capacity is reached when the rechargeable batteries are discharged and charged again completely several times.

Safety notes for rechargeable batteries


Rechargeable batteries are subject to wear. Service life of more than six months cannot be warranted.
WARNING

Danger of explosion in case of contact with fire.


ff Never throw rechargeable batteries into the fire.
CAUTION

Danger of injury from destruction of the rechargeable battery jacket when using unsuitable rechargeable batteries or
non-rechargeable batteries.
ff Only use the rechargeable batteries intended for the device!

Type use
Only use the enclosed mains unit or a PC-USB connection to charge the rechargeable batteries.
Only use rechargeable batteries (three each) of the type nickel metal hydride (REINER item number: 946 192 - 000)
of type AA.
Always replace flat batteries all at once.
Non-approved batteries may cause damage or function impairment.
ff Use the specified rechargeable batteries only.

Observe polarity of the rechargeable batteries when inserting (see icons)!
Disposal
Directive 2006/66/EC:
Consumers are obliged to supply flat batteries and rechargeable batteries to a suitable collection point. Batteries
and rechargeable batteries may be returned free of charge to the intended municipal collection points or the sales
point.
The adjacent symbol means:
Do not dispose of batteries or rechargeable batteries in the conventional household waste.
The following signs may be present below the symbol:
Cd = Contains more than 0.002 percent by weight cadmium
Hg = Contains more than 0.005 percent by weight mercury
Pb = Contains more than 0.004 percent by weight lead

• Phillips screwdriver size 1x80
• Torx screwdriver size T6x50
• Torx screwdriver size T8x60
• Flat pliers
• Flat tweezers
• Protective devices against electrostatic discharge (ESD)

2. Replacing rechargeable batteries

The textile ribbon is used to remove the rechargeable batteries more easily.

Always replace flat batteries all at once.


ff Open battery lid 7 .
ff Remove defective rechargeable batteries.
ff Place textile ribbon flat across the compartment.
ff Observe correct polarity and insert rechargeable batteries.
ff Close battery lid 7 .

3. Replacing damaged housing parts


NOTICE

ff Discharge body by grounding directly before and during contact with electronic assemblies. For this,

3.1. Replacing housing rear


3.1.1. Disassembly of housing rear

ff Put jetStamp graphic 970 in base station.
ff Put selector wheel 3 in position 1.
ff Keep the trigger button pushed and remove the device from the base station.
Printing cartridge moves to the central position.
ff Remove rechargeable batteries.
ff Remove print cartridge.
ff Loosen bottom plate screws 9 .
ff Loosen housing screws 8 on back of handle.
ff Hold housing front 2 and carefully remove housing rear 6 .
Observe caution so that the trigger card 1 is not damaged.

ff Put down housing front 2 with the open side facing up.
ff Installation of new housing rear 6 in the reverse order.
Observe that the connection cable of the trigger card 1 is properly seated.

ff Disassembly of housing rear 6 (see page 6).
ff Carefully disconnect trigger card 1 from the handle.
ff Disconnect plug of the connection cable of the trigger card 1 from the control card 4 .
ff Hold the device with your thumbs in the points b and c and with the index and middle fingers in points a and d
and disconnect housing and basic plate from each other with slight pressure.

ff Guide the slightly wider front of the bottom plate 5 at the sides over the points a and d .
ff Compress until the bottom plate 5 latches in the end position so that a level surface results.
ff Installing trigger card 1 (see page 8).
ff Installing housing rear 6 (see page 7).
Observe that the connection cable of the trigger card 1 is properly seated.

3.3. Replacing housing base station


3.3.1. Disassembly of housing base station

ff Remove protective nozzle seal 16 .
ff Turn around base station.
ff Loosen screws for bottom plate base station 17 .
ff Lift the bottom plate base station 18 from the base station housing.
ff Remove protective nozzle seal holder 19 with pressure spring 20 .
ff Loosen screw magnetic holder 21 and remove magnetic holder 22 with magnet 23 .

ff Placing magnet 23 into the intended indentation.
ff Place magnetic holder 22 above and screw on screws magnetic holder 21 .
ff Insert protective nozzle seal holder 19 with pressure spring 20 .
ff Put on bottom plate base station 18 . Observe that the pressure spring 20 is fastened in the bottom plate by the pin.
ff Screw on screws bottom plate base station 17 .
ff Turn around base station.
ff Insert protective nozzle seal 16 .

4. Replacing trigger card

4.1. Disassembly of trigger card

ff Disassembly of housing rear 6 (see page 6).
ff Carefully disconnect trigger card 1 from the handle.
ff Disconnect plug of the connection cable of the trigger card 1 from the control card 4 .

4.2. Installing trigger card

ff Connect plug of the connection cable of the new trigger card 1 to the control card 4 .
ff Place trigger card 1 in the housing front 2 handle and place connection cable laterally in the handle.
ff Installing housing rear 6 (see page 7).

5. Replacing print head cable


NOTICE

ff Discharge body by grounding directly before and during contact with electronic assemblies. For this, touch an

ff Do not touch electronic assemblies with electrically insulating material of plastic.
ff Only put down electronic assemblies on electrically conductive material.
NOTICE

Damage to the print head cable 10 , the print head carrier 11 or the flap of the print head carrier.
ff Do not clamp print head cable 10 .
ff Put on parts so that they are not damaged.

5.1. Disassembly of print head cable

ff Disassemble housing rear 6 (see page 6).
ff Disassemble trigger card 1 (see page 8).
ff Disassemble housing front 2 (see page 7).
ff Use flat tweezers to loosen the lock of the connection socket for the flat-band cable of the print head cable 10
at points e and f .
ff Pull print head cable 10 from the connection socket.
ff Turn bottom plate with control card so that the flap of the print head cable 10 points up.
ff Fasten print head carrier 11 between thumb and index finger.
ff Fold open the flap of the print head cable 10 that is attached to the print head carrier 11 with the other hand.

ff Hold flap of the print head cable 10 between thumb and index finger and carefully disconnect it from the print head
carrier 11 by turning.

5.2. Installing print head cable

ff Insert print head cable 10 into the connection socket with the open contacts down.
ff Use flat tweezers to close the lock of the connection socket for the print head cable 10 at points e and f .
ff Slightly pull to check if the lock is firmly closed.
ff Turn basic plate with control card so that the opening of the print head carrier points up.
ff Pass through the flap of the print head cable 10 upwards.
ff Fasten print head carrier 11 between thumb and index finger.
ff Put the flap of the print head cable 10 against the print head carrier 11 with the other hand and push in carefully with
slight pressure.
ff Installing housing front 2 (see page 7).
ff Installing trigger card 1 (see page 8).
ff Installing housing rear 6 (see page 7).

6. Replacing control card


6.1. Disassembly of control card

ff Disassemble housing rear 6 (see page 6).
ff Disassemble housing front 2 (see page 7).
ff Disassembly print head cable 10 (see page 8 ).
ff Disconnect plug of the connection cable for the step motor.
ff Compress spacer 12 of the control card 13 cover at the tips with the flat tweezers and push it through downward.
ff Remove cover control card 13 .
ff Loosen three screws control card 14 .
ff Remove button cell 15 .
ff Disconnect selector wheel 3 from control card 4 .

6.2. Installing control card

NOTICE

Damage to the flexible connection between the PCBs


ff Do not bend too strongly.
ff Do not use any tools or sharp objects on it.

ff Insert button cell 15 .

ff Put on cover control card 13 properly onto the new control card 4 with spacers for cover control card 12 .
ff Latch spacers for cover control card 12 in the PCB.
ff Place control card 4 on the bottom plate 5 and turn on three screws control card 14 .
ff Connect plug of the connection cable of the step motor to the control card 4 .
ff Push on selector wheel 3 properly.
ff Install print head cable 10 (see page 9).

ff Install housing front 2 (see page 7).


ff Install trigger card 1 (see page 8).
ff Install housing rear 6 (see page 7).
