Understanding to Custom Modbus map to Tag of HCiR
1/4
All HC900 Releases post 4.0 supports two types of Modbus Map modes for “holding
register” access by HMI software and HMI touch panels:
1. Fixed Modbus Map (standard for HC900)
• All Modbus addresses and data types pre-defined except for User-Defined
map of 1000 registers.
• Addresses applied to function blocks, signal tags, Variables according to
their number as applied in the configuration
2. Custom Modbus Map(editable by user)
• Starts with fixed map addresses
• User can change, delete or add Modbus addresses and data types
• After conversion to the custom map user must define address and data
type for every parameter added to configuration that is needed for
communications

Strong points in HCi Design Studio

• Accepted all kinds of data type, Int16/32, Float32
• Remove the duplicated address and ‘Tag name’
• mark in the Tag list about ‘Access’ info, R/W and R

Introduction of HCiR System buffer
• Definition : It is internal MVRAM memory of HCiR, self back-up
• Purpose : It is for saving some data temporarily and operating some actions without
using HC900 tag parameter.
• Memory size : 10240(0~10239) addresses.
• Bit size of one address : 16 bits structure.
For 32 bit floating point data size, the address occupy two address.
The low 16 bit data is saved to the address and the high 16 bit data is
saved to next address
Data type : Integer

Simple logging and Record Tag Application

Example) Logging and Record Tag

This example is to collect the values of Signal Tag 1, 2 and 18 and to show the values in a recorder chart.
In order to start this example, above all, a controller program to generate on and off pulse trains is needed
like the below picture. The below picture is an example of HC900 function block program. In the below
program, the Variable 36 takes a role to start and stop logging, the Variable 37 adjust the logging period,
and the Signal Tag 40 repeats Off/On according to the logging interval and is used for collecting logging
data.
