PRESIDENTS LETTER
Welcome Spring! It can't get here quick enough for me. Isn't it great to see the snow melt?

We have a busy month with the auction coming up fast. It is always a good time and it gives us all an opportunity to strut
our (painting) stuff! It is an fun way to showcase all of the different painting styles of our members.

Sign-ups for our Bobbie Takashima Seminar have gone really well and it looks to be three great days of painting in April.

Hope all of you can attend our meeting next week. The plan is to paint shamrocks so we are all really for St. Patricks Day!
Also, can't wait to see more of what everyone has painted for the auction.

I have a tip that I recently learned to pass on to you. To clean dried acrylic paint out of brushes, soak them in Simple
Green Cleaning solution. It works really well. Linda Wise has video on Art Apprentice Online using Simple Green soaked
into a small craft stick to wipe out highlights and clean up edges on dried paintings.

Happy Painting!
Sharon

A big welcome to new members, D.Toots Garvin and Myra Fah

Barb Untiedt sent a very nice thank you note.
Treats were provided by Jeanne Elliott and Diana Marshall… Delicious.
Program: Techniques in stenciling with textures. Sue Stone provided the supplies and directed the class.

There is no program chairperson this year, so volunteers are needed to come up with ideas to teach a class for future
meetings. If you have a project or a technique you would like to share, please let Sharon Fah know.

A motion to adjourn the meeting was presented by Jeanne Elliott, with a second by Laura Reich.

Respectfully…… Cheryl Sullivan

AUCTION
It's March, and time for our auction again. Items will be collected at our March meeting for your donated items. Please
remember to sign, and date your work, and provide hangers if your item(s) require it. It would be much appreciated if
you bring your donations in protective packaging to prevent any scratching or marring of your pieces in transit. I
understand that some of our members might have additional tickets for sale, so if you need additional tickets, we will try
to have a list of who has some for sale. (If you do have tickets for sale, please let either Jamie Logan or me know. ) We
will try to help if we can. As of this writing, we have 120 tickets sold. There will be sign-up sheets available so you can
volunteer for specific jobs on March 20th. There will be many things that will need to be accomplished in a very short
time. I know we can do it, and do it well with our great club membership force. Remember we are at the Milan
Community Center this year; Camden Park, Route 67, Milan, Illinois. If you have any questions, or concerns, please let
me know. My phone number is 563-359-6076 563-359-6076 , or nahungate@msn.com.

MARCH MEETING
Technique Time will begin at 6:30. We encourage all of you to bring your 3 ring binders. Bring your normal
painting supplies.
Treats will be provided by Sue Stone and Laura Reich

NEWSLETTER NOTE: If you are feeling a little bored with “the usual” check out the April 2011
issue of Paint Works magazine. There is a nice multimedia project using texture that fits right in with Sue
Stone’s program last month. This project includes texture, 3D stamps, painting an old postcard, lettering,
antiquing with oil paints, using glimmer mist spray, and gold leaf. There is also a very cool rose painted on a
canvas using a pallet knife.
