INTRODUCTION

Kemaman Supply Base site visit for new recruits in Production Technology

Objective : To be exposed with tools and equipments of oil and gas industry prior to actual
set up at offshore.

Duration : 3 days with nine participants

Scope of Visit :- Sclumberger warehouse

 Eastern Energy warehouse
 Halliburton warehouse
 Geowell warehouse

Acknowledge acquired :- Get to know the basic functions of the equipments involve in
upstream oil and gas operations.

 Experience the real look of the basic tools in oil and gas
industry.

 Brief explanation about major and important business of certain

service providers for oil and gas upstream operations.

OBJECTIVE :Get an overview of open hole and cased hole business segment of
Schlumberger and get to know about Schlumberger E-line Basic Surface
Equipments.

Knowledge acquired :

 E-Line - Electric line is used for well logging involving deploying sensory tools
designed to provide some information about the properties of the well.

 SLB E-Line basic surface equipments

Compact Logging Cabin (CLC) - is a cabin or control room to monitor the
process and equipments.
Diesel All Power Skid(DAPS) – supply power to the equipments.
Winch Drum Drive Skid (WDDS) – is a drum to place the e-line cables.
E-Line Telescopic Mast (DOP-F) –

 Cased hole equipments

Platform string - 1) spinner- to measure flowrate
2) probe - to identify liquid type via electrical potential,
differentiate HC and water
3) Temperature Gauge - to measure the temperature
Wireline drum – to carry the wireline cables.
Wireline mast – to rig up the platform spinner and other tools

Knowledge Acquired:

The Wireline Tool String as an assembly of wireline tools connected to the wireline
(slickline) for setting, pulling, or servicing downhole equipment. An assembly of wireline
tools is used to deliver surface controlled impacts (jar action) to manipulate devices within
the well bore.

CPS provides well completion products such as subsurface equipments like packers,
safety valves, landing nipples and etc.
Halliburton’s services such as Hydro test, Function test, and Torque turning.
Example of Halliburton’s completion products:
 TUBING RETRIEVABLE SAFETY VALVE (TRSV)
a)Functions:
o Stop well flow immediately in case of emergency.
o Create safe working environment.
o Prevent blow-out and kick.
o Operated from surface -control panel-control line.
b) Types:

o Well Star TRSV: Simple, Compact design for optimum reliability and
durability, complete metal-to-metal well containment in closed
position, enhanced debris isolation and protection, premium material
construction.
o SP TRSV: A rod piston non-elastomer flapper valve designed for
hostile environments and extended life applications where ultimate
reliability is required, the piston achieves a metal-to-metal seal at its
uppermost and lowermost positions to seal well pressure from the
control system.

 XXO-SVLN (Safety Valve Landing Nipple)

o SVLN is designed to accept surface controlled, wireline retrievable

safety valves. XXO SVLN incorporate an inner sleeve that can be closed
during testin and well clean up then opened to allow control of the safety
valve.

OBJECTIVE : Familiarization to Gas Lift Valve (artificial lift).

Knowledge Acquired:
o A valve used in a gas-lift system to control the flow of lift gas into the production
tubing conduit. The gas-lift valve is located in the gas-lift mandrel, which also
provides communication with the lift gas supply in the tubing annulus. Operation of
the gas lift valve is determined by preset opening and closing pressures in the tubing
or annulus, depending on the specific application.
o Pressure testing for gas lift valve.
o GAS LIFT INJECTION BELOW PRODUCTION PACKER

Knowledge Acquired:
Coiled tubing (CT) are designed to improve well and reservoir performance. CT
applications include matrix and fracture stimulation, wellbore cleanout, logging,
perforating, nitrogen kickoff, sand control, drilling, cementing, well circulation, and
mechanical isolation.
