About the Company:

DSPC was founded in 1953 as Pest Control Corporation (PCC) under the leadership of
DR. Anand Sarup, M.SC., Ph.D, who is now known ment in houses, factories, ships, in Calcutta,
and within four years he had established branches at Jamshedpur, Delhi, Madras, Bombay and
Hyderabad During this period of time Dr. Sarup visited England and kept in close contact with
Rentokill Labroratories, the famous and perhaps the oldest pest control organisaion in the world.
also in mid fifties, Mr. N.S.Rao, the backbone and founder of Pest Control India Pvt. Ltd., started
his pest control organization in Bombay, which eventually covers almost the enire country.

M/s. Pest Control M. Walshe ws started in Bombay in 1960 as Mr. Michael Walshe, lrish
man and friend of Dr. Sarup, was keen to take up this line. Mr.Prithpal Pruthi who joined and
took over from Mr. Michael Walshe, was also trained by Dr. Sarup.

In the fifties, only Dr. Sarup's Pest Control Corporation and M/s Pest Control India Pvt.
Ltd. existed in India besides Jardine Henderson and Gladstone Lyall.

Then sixties saw the birth of Pest Control M. Walshe, also Mysodet under Mr. Gopinath.
By the seventies there were about 200 mushroom pest control companies in India and by the
eighties and nineties, much-much more.

Dr. Sarup's Pest Control Pvt. Ltd. (then known as Pest Control Corporation ) was
perhaps the first company that fumigated and entire ship with Methyl Bromide in 1962 in
Calcutta. Dr. Sarup was also invited to speak at a UNESCO Symposium on Termites in Humid
Tropics organized by Zoological survey of India and UNESCO Asia, Science Co-operation office
in 1960. He was one of the first recipients of the license under Small Scale Industries and was
aslo amongst the first pesticides formulators (M/s. croplife Chemicals Pvt. Ltd.) for agriculture. In
1962, the first branch office was opened at Bahrain (Gulf) in partnership with Mr. Rasul AL Jishi
and the Branch was known as Al Jishi Pest Control. For giving this technology to Bahrain, Dr.
Sarup was paid royalty in foreign exchange, at that time, and unheard-of-event. In the sixties,
Dr. Sarup was also an advisor of Quality control to the Govt. of india and was member of the
sub-Committee of the Indian Standard Insitute.

In the late sixties. Dr. Sarup and Mr. N.S. Rao founded the Indian Pest Control
Association. In the pest control world, Dr. Sarup is now legendary. Under his guidance and
advice an Institute for management course for trainees in pest control has been set up.

Training Programme

In to - day’s hi-tech world, learning is of primary importance. Tacking up a career in any

field without proper training cab be disastrous, not only to the person conerned, as the clients
too can suffer irreparable damage at the hands of untrained Pest Controllers.

The aim is to equip trainees with a practical working knowledge on various pests under
varied conditions. Pest Control has become a house hold word. Today there are semi or
illiterate ex-operators from recognized pest control houses, coursing the country with a tomato
sprayer and dangerous chemicals in their hands, and spray ignorant or innocent householders"
premises for a pittance. these dangerous operators leave no address and hence, complaints
can never be re-addressed or lodged.

The aim of conducting such practical courses are for the benefit of all pest control
organisations who can then depend and rely on their newly trained managers to attend to all
typed of work in the pest control field with confidence and knowledge.

Our experience shows that an existing trained manager does not have the time to train
his subordinates. As a result, the branch or company suffers due to the lack of rained personnel
and also these half or maltrained personnel, when unhappy, leave and start their own business.

Pest control is still in its infancy in India. The scope is huge-it can be considered a large
industry, and all the pest controllers put together are still on the fringe of this industry.

BED BUGS

Bedbugs are pests that thrive around human dwellings. They live only on human blood
for survival. They have received their name from it’s close association with human bedding.
They generally hide in the seam of the mattress and in the cracks of the bed and feed on the
bed’s occupants at night. If the population of bed bugs is very large it spreads in the entire
house. The bedbugs may also hide in other pieces of furniture and cracks and crevices in the
walls. They spread mainly by baggage and clothing of travelers and visitors, bedding material
and furniture.Control The treatment is done by spraying insecticide, especially in the seams of
mattresses, beds and all other places infested by bedbugs. The bedbugs die on contact with the
insecticide. As the eggs of bedbugs are resistant to chemicals, this treatment is repeated within
a fortnight to treat the hatchlings.

RODENTS

Leave behind signs of infections in form of urine stain and Odours. Rodents cause
damage to structures & properties and transmit diseases such as rat-bite fever, salmonellosis,
plague etc. Rodents can be controlled by detailed inspection followed by various treatment like
powder, Glue Traps etc.

The damage aused by termites to wooden structures, books, paper agricultural crops
and trees etc. runs into crores of rupees annually in India. Thus it is not surprising that more and
more people want to know something about termites and their, control.

White ant control is both an entomological and an engineering problem. The methods of
white ant control in standing structures are constantly being improved by research, as a result of
which more powrful insecticides and improved techniques are being discovered. We keep
abreast of these development and provide control by modern scientific methods which depend
on creating a chemical barrier, lethal to white ants around the affected parts of a building or
prefrably around the whole building.
